FET - Any success stories from a one embryo transfer?

Post by Edel »

Hi Girls

I guess I'm just looking for any success stories as i am anxiously going through my 2ww at the moment. I had 2 embryos frozen, one 5 cell and one 4 cell, the 4 cell didnt survive the defrost unfortunately but on the bright side the 5 cell grew into a 7 cell over night which i had transferred. I know my chances have been reduced by half by only having one transferred and im really nervous about it not working.

I have been getting acupuncture once a week for the last 7 weeks and now since the transfer ill be getting it twice a week. Other than some lower back pain from the progesterone pessaries physically I feel fine at the moment, certainly not as crampy and stressed as I did during my last IVF (which was my first that ended in a chemical pregnancy).

So just to give me some hope and to keep my spirits up a bit during the dreaded 2ww I love to know if any of you ladies any BFPs from a one embryo transfer?

Hugs & Babydust.

Edel- I am glad you posted this because I will be doing a one embryo FET on April 24 so I too am interested in knowing if anyone has had success from transferring one. I don't think your chances are necessarily cut in half because you only transferred one because it only takes one to get pregnant! I wish you the best during your 2ww and sending lots of +++++++++++ thoughts your way!

Whether or not anyone here has had success with one frozen embryo, I assure you it happens all the time.

Note: Your chances are not "cut in half". They are reduced a little, but not by half.

Hello....not really a success story, but, I've been doing single embryo transfers and had two biochemicals pregnancies of the three cycles. So, I know you can get pregnant from one. I am planning to transfer 2 this cycle to increase my chances.

Good luck to you Edel!!!

Hello,
I can't tell you that I have success, but can tell you I am in the same boat. My fresh cycle was cancelled and converted to a frozen. We only had one embryo to put back in, so that is what we did. My transfer was 4/1 and by blood draw is 4/11 ( I transferred a blast)

Good luck Edel!

The 2ww is a killer isn't it!

Here in New Zealand they will actually only transfer one embryo at a time if your under 39 – and the clinic I am has really good success rates with that (almost 40% with FET - though this might be more than one go ????)

My DD was conceived after a one embryo FET - as were the daughters of two of my friends (both single frozen embryos) in fact one of those friends is now pregnant with her second baby – she had two Frozen embryos only – and two children out of it!!

I am also on the 2ww now also after a single FET, so after everything I have just said – the irony is am convinced myself there is no way is going to work! Protection mechanism I think.

It's just a roll of the dice really! Hopefully our numbers come up! I'd love to hear your result – am very interested in the acupuncture - if it doesn't work this time and I have to do IVF again - ill consider this too.

Best wishes
Mel

Hang in there. Anything is possible!!!

I had only 1 egg at retrieval and that little thing has beaten all kinds of odds and hung in here with me. I'm 9 weeks pg. It wasn't frozen, but I'm sure since your little ones have survived the thaw they're on the track to implanting!!

I know the rollercoaster of emotions is really hard to deal with sometimes, but hang on to your hope. Everything else is so out of our control.

Wishing you all tons of luck!!!!!

FET - Any success stories from a one embryo transfer?

Post by Edel »

Hi Ladies

Thank you all so much for your encouraging words of hope and strength, its in God's hands i guess and I know it can happen.

Ghost - Im glad to know my changes are just reduced and not cut by half as I originially thought so thanks for that it really makes a difference.

Laura & Diane - The very best of luck to the two of you on your up coming transfers. We all know how nerve wreaking it is, i will light a candle for both of you and say a prayer it all goes well, we are all here for you.

Michelle & Mel - I hear ya girls the 2ww is a nightmare it's like living in limbo, everyone living their lives around us, it certainly makes me feel like my life is at a stand still, its like living in the twlight zone it'd drive ya around the twist! Sure i suppose we'll get there in the end, let me know how yous get on id love to know.

Actually just out of curiousity im only into day 11 and i'm so tempted to do a hpt test, my clinic doesnt do pregnancy blood tests, they just say to buy a hpt and test on day 16 and if postive to ring them and they'll book me in for a scan for 3 weeks later (it's not a great clinic!). I checked it out on the internet and some websites say between day 12-14 is a good time to test so im not sure what to do, what's your thoughts on it, when are yous testing?

Kirsty - The success story which gives us all so much hope thank you, congratulations and the warmest of hugs and best wishes, it realy is fantastic news.

I will keep you all in my prayers and hopefully we will all have the outcome we so desperately hope for and thank you all again for your support.

Hugs & heavy showers of baby dust on you all.

Edel :)
