I was wondering how many girls decided to do an amnio and had a good experience. Why did you decide to do it?
I go back and forth on the issue, because my blood levels came out of the normal range for Nuchal even though the baby's measurements are fine. I am scheduled to do and expanded AFP and heard tons of "false positives" happen there too. I feel like I want to know but then there is always a risk with amnio. If you could share your experience with me and how you came to the decision, I would really appreciate it!
Congratulations on your babies!

I declined amnio due to the risks. I also underwent the nuchial fold translucency test which showed measurements within normal range. The test was ordered by my OB but done by an MFS. However, since I am having twins, my OB recommended I decline B/W which he said was unlikely to be accurate w/twins & is often inaccurate anyway. Besides. the most common chromosomal abnormality is down's syndrome, and most people w/down's syndrome lead enjoyable quality lives. I felt it was just not much of an issue, as I would not have terminated the pregnancy anyway. In fact, I think most women would only consider terminating a pregnancy in which it was certain a child would suffer major abnormalities making survival impossible. Weigh your thoughts and ask yourself a few "What if" types of questions. I think it will help you decide where you stand & what is right for you. After all, it's what you feel that really counts anyway. Just remember not to put too much stake in that blood test, especially since the measurements were normal. Good Luck!!
