GHOST - possible false positive?

Post by efoy72 »

It's the spastic, impatient woman again. (i know...which one) the one asking the progesterone question earlier today. so my patience to wait until monday's beta failed me this afternoon when i p'edoas. positive results. woohoo! today is 7 dpt of a 6 day old hatching blast. it was a natural FET cycle, so the only meds in my body are dots and crinone supps. is there anything that could make this a false positive? i know nothing is certain until there is a bambino in my arms, but how are we doing so far?

To my knowledge, HPTs rely on HCG, so if you did not have an HCG ovulation trigger (which you would not have with FET) that HCG is all you darlin' CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!you are BFP

Short answer: Congratulations!!!

Long answer: hCG is a very different molecule from estradiol and progesterone. hCG is a protein with a molecular weight near 30,000 amu. Estradiol and progesterone are steroids, with molecular weights near 300 amu. The HPT test for beta-hCG cannot mistake estradiol or progesterone for hCG. It's a very reasonable question though, and is asked here from time to time.
