Yay, I get to add new #2 Girls! Welcome, new girls! I've taken the girls we haven't heard from in a while off the list. If you're out there ladies, let me know! I'm more than happy to add you back!

#2 Girls

Melo_P: DD Nov 06, FET, hcg 4/11(?)

beth: DD Jan 07, Fresh cycle in June

lauradc: DS May 06, FET April 24

brs888: DD May 06, pregnant!

joyanna: DD Aug 06, FET, hcg 4/12(?)

MyBoyParker: DS Feb, 2005, FET, hcg 4/16

liz13: DS April 2007, IVF soon

Yellow (me): DD June 06, ER May 5

Melo, I'm so sorry you're feeling low. I know this is really hard. You deserve to feel blue. Things will get better. I know this sounds a little "Oprah show," but there is a path for you (for all of us) to happiness. I'm thinking about you and sending you hugs. :)

liz13, I have to ask. In what sense do your friends think you're taking the easy way out? I wouldn't call this easy. :) I totally understand those mixed emotions.

Tammy, I had both embryos take, too. Unfortunately, one implanted in my fallopian tube. I feel so fortunate to have my little girl. And, Parker is beautiful.

joyanna, I hear you about IVF being harder with a little one. It's not as easy to take time for yourself. I'm hoping your 2ww flies by and ends with a BFP!

2nd IVF: 2/08 BFN

Hi Girls

So nice to see new faces welcome Liz, Joyanna and Parkers mum.

I'll make this one short and catch up later - in a bit of early shock - I couldn't resist torturing myself and invested in more buying even more HPT's . . . . . and it looks like the latest one wasn't evil!!

I don't have my beta until tomorrow - but I got a positive HPT!!!!

Heck! Pllllllleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee stick little bean! Will let you know how my beta goes tomorrow.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I really appreciate it.

I was very happy to see some good news...Congratulations Mel! That is awesome...I will be crossing all my fingers and toes for high numbers tomorrow.

Yellow and Tammy- I had two put back July 06 and both took for me too! I lost the twin at 13 weeks, but my son made it to 41 weeks!!! I feel so very fortunate because our twin never absorbed the way it was supposed to and I ended up with major blood loss and needed a blood transfusion. The recovery was slow, but soooo worth it! So worth it that I am ready to go again!

I think that is why some of my friends question my thoughts of going to IVF again, even though my complications were not because of IVF. They haven't gone through it...they don't understand about the shots, hormones, and endless appointments. They just feel that I am not giving "nature" enough time. Well...we tried for 2 years before and "nature" never worked for us. I do have endo, but other than that we are "unexplained". In my heart I believe we have to do it again, but I can't help second guessing...is being lucky 2x too much to ask????

Anyway- you girls are the best! I hope we can all share good news over the next couple of months!

Thanks again!!!

Hi All
Liz - I know what you mean being lucky two time around almost makes it seem impossible before you start off!

Anyway - I had my beta today - positive.. . . eeeeeeeekkkkk

Am a bit nervous about the beta level though. Its only 87 - isn't that pretty low? Oh heck just when the 2ww is over there is another bit of anxiety that I totally forgot about. Next beta on Tuesday.

Trying to keep feet on ground and be one step at a time (actually who am I kidding I've practically already picked the colors in the yet to be created new baby's room and have my name decided!! hee hee).

Joyanna - your up next right? Really hoping your result comes through.

Myboyparker - hope you managing to play out the time okay - good luck with your result next week.

Laura - your time nearly here! Is April 24th your transfer date? How come you know the date so soon - can they preplan the med cycles to the day?

Everyone else - hope your all kei te pai - and your bundles of joy are giving you smiles. I'd love to meet the wee boys and girls - maybe we can post pics on photobucket.

Hi All

Melo - huge congratulations on your bfp, you must be delighted and my boyparker......best of luck next week.

Good luck to the rest of you who are en route to the et.

I am afraid that I got a bfn. My husband and I are very upset (to say the least). I have a consulation with my doc on monday and I'll see how that goes....that's 3 failed fets for me since my dd was born in August 2006 so I am worried about implantation issues. I have 2 frozen blastocysts but i think that I might be better trying a fresh cycle .....anyone have any thoughts on this?

Melo - just wondering if you rested much after the transfer? I rested very little and was lifting dd etc ...

Thanks to you all for your support and I'll keep in touch!

Joyanna- I am very sorry. Hopefully your doc will have some thoughts when you meet next week and let you know what the next best move is. I will keep you and dh in my prayers and thoughts.

Mel- I'm so happy for you! Doesn't matter what the number is- it's positive!!!!!! I'll keep you in my prayers and thoughts for your numbers to just keep climbing and for that little one to stay with you for good! (I guess they can plan the med cycles to the date cuz they've told me that date since I got my schedule but I guess if my lining isn't good late next week, that would be a problem and would probably change the date- but I'm hoping that won't happen!)

Joyanna ~ I am so sorry about your negative. It is very frustrating and can feel hopeless. But it's not! Let us know what the doc says Monday. Big hugs to you.
Personally, we will probably not freeze any more embryos. We kind of felt our FET was a waste of money and energy to have it fail. But then you look at all the positive stories out there, FET does work for some! It's a tough decision.

MEL ~ Congratulations!! How very exciting for you! Laura is right, you have a beta number, that means pregnant!! That number will more than double on Tuesday!! I am curious about your routine with your baby, too. How many days of rest, if any?

Hi Liz and welcome. How awful for you to go thru what you did. Everyone always amazes me with their stories, everyone is always so strong. I think I would crawl into bed and not come out.
Are you going thru a frozen cycle or another fresh IVF?
And, your friends don't know what they are talking about.

Laura ~ they had given me my exact date for FET, too. Never worried about my lining...you shouldn't worry either...the 24th is your day!

Beth & Joyanna- Don't give up on FET- it seems like so many people talk about success from them. I think Mel did a single FET actually if I remember and she just got a bfp... I read a couple Ghost posts recently (I guess he/she is a researcher, right?)- once he said, that "many people have success from single frozen embryos transfers" and the other comment I love was "don't underestimate the frozen embryo." I thought that one was great! And of course I am trying to think very positive about FET because I'm pretty sure my dh and I will do this time and one more FET and that will be it. And I know I'll be hard pressed to stay positive if we get two negatives but for now...

Hi girls! Glad to see this thread is staying busy.

Joyanna, I'm so sorry. I know it's painful. Hopefully your RE will have some encouraging words. I believe your prospects are still excellent. Let us know how you're doing. You're in my thoughts.

Melo, I thought I'd try to keep this under wraps, but I am OBSESSED with researching IVF related questions. I became a self-taught expert on early pregnancy HCG levels when I was pregnant. I'm not sure how many days past ovulation you were with your test. And sources vary on this topic. But I think the HCG levels are fine. Google it if you haven't already. Congratulations!

Beth, here's to AF coming soon!

I started Lupron on Thursday. Crazy fun to be starting again!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi All

Joyanna - sorry this one wasn't your time.

Beth and Joyanna - I'd be interested to hear what your re says about the blasts- but I really really think you should go ahead and try and or keep any frosties. I don't know the costs involved - here in NZ the (natural) FET transfers are only about 10% of the cost of undergoing IVF, and infinitely less intrusive than a whole IVF fresh cycle. I would be treating those little frosties like absolute gold dust!! In addition I did read research around how the blast (day 5) embryos have better success rates than the day 3's.

I really believe they can work. My DD was the result of a day 3 single frozen embryo transfer - (this after a fresh failed cycle) - and in the same 6 months - not one but two of my friends who also had failed fresh - went on to have pregnancies with single FETs. One of those friends is now pregnant with number 2 (ANOTHER single FET), and though its too early to tell for sure - my recent BFP was result of another single FET.

The clinic here gets many many +ives from the FET's - its worth a shot. It really is like my nurse said - success is a roll of the dice and a numbers game - we just have to keep rolling the dice. Easier said than done I know!!

The other thing is NOTHING you did or didn't do affected the result. My nurse was very very strong on this - if you go about normal business - there is nothing that is going to impact on the implantation. Lifting is fine, as is having a normal busy life. I took one day off work - but didn't at all resign myself to bed rest.

Like all of us - I obsess on whether there are things you can do to increase the results: I imagine this is a total co-incidence - but for both BFP's I went for a short run before the transfer - I told myself that getting my blood circulating was as close as possible an imitation to "doing the terrible deed"(i.e sexual relations sorry if TMI). And I figured recreating what happens naturally and getting my blood moving had to help.

In addition I did read (I don't know how reliable) articles on the net (with stats) showing that actually having intercourse around about the transfer time (yes that strange most rare ritual that am most unfamiliar with these days!) can actually help implantation - the presence of sperm apparently has some affect on embryos ability to implant. Though it does say you should avoid uterine contractions (you know what I mean). Sorry thats a lot of TMI - but something to think about - anything that can get us a little closer to a BFP.

Ginger is also apparently renown for helping blood circulation (I wonder if its a co-incidence that it helps M/S)

Well might all be nothing or something. Will catch up with you all a little later - hope your all well.

I don't know what I will do if the beta on Tuesday doesn't go well. I completely forgot how obsessed and cautious this all feels even after the BFP . . .

Wow! I needed to catch up a little bit...new people and new pregnancies!

Congratulations, Mel! That is so wonderful. I know other people have said this, but it doesn't matter how small the hcg number is. All that matters is that it should double within 2-3 days. I am sure it will...then comes the wait for the ultrasound. It's like never ending torture...do we ever relax? I think we all know since we have one that no...we don't stop worrying

Joyanna, so sorry about your BFN. You know...my dh and I had 3 failed FETs in the past year. We just got our positive from a new fresh cycle! Maybe this next time will be your time too! I had great survival rates with the FETs (6 cells, 8 cells, and blasts), just none of them took. In this last fresh cycle we had only 2 fertilize and they were both 4 cells. I didn't have much hope as I know on day 3 they like them to be 6 or 8 cells...and I got a BFP! You just never know. It's crazy how many things have to go just right to get pregnant. It will happen for you I just know it.

Welcome to the new ladies! Liz, I had a similar situation where I had issues after birth (an infection from delivery) and my friends and family thought I was crazy for trying to get pregnant again. It was just one of those crazy things that rarely happen, not because we had IVF. Even after I got pregnant it took my family a while to be happy for dh and I. I guess they all just worry.

Mel, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I think what you wrote makes sense. It's so easy to get caught up in the tricks that could help bring a BFP. The truth is that there probably isn't a whole lot we can do. I know this and I tell myself this, but when I read something new I still think, Oh I need to try that! So, I'll probably be exercising before my next transfer. :) Good luck on your beta tomorrow. I've got my fingers crossed for you.

I take my last BCP tonight. Pretty happy about that. I'm so hoping for my #2. :)

Mel- I hope you have good news about your next beta- I'm sure you do! I remember that you do feel like you have to be cautiously excited until the other betas and the u/s but again, I'm sure it will all be good. How are you feeling? Hope all is well. I just love to hear all your positives about single FET because I will be transfering one embie with my upcoming frozen cycle. Again, hope all is going good. Hey and thanks for the other tips you shared too!

Brandy- How are you doing? Have you had your u/s yet or are you still in that wait? Hope all is going well for you.

Yellow- I was very happy to be done with bcp this time- I got so tired from them...but now I'm tired from the lupron and estrogen or maybe it's just that I can't sleep in like I did when I was trying for #1. But don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled and feel lucky to be trying for #2. Like you said, I'm so hoping for #2 for all of us!!
