Sonia, my fingers are crossed for good news soon!

Lucy, wishing you all the best with your cycle. Can't wait to hear your good news!

Kelly, congrats on week 12! How did the ultrasound go?

Jen, it's probably a good idea to just sit back and come up with a new plan. I feel so bad for your poor husband! Just be there for him and offer back rubs and beer runs!

We're probably not going to try again until June or July. I have my graduation next month (get to walk even though I won't be done with classes until the end of August). Plus if we wait and I do get pregnant (knock on wood!!), I'll have been at my job for 12 months which is a requirement for federal family leave in the States. And it gives me more time to focus on my job and trying to get in shape! Did I mention we have dogs in our office? It's fantastic!! Stay warm everyone, spring is almost here!!

Hi Ladies,

I've been reading your stories and you are all such wonderful, inspirational, strong women who are striving to achieve what your heart desires and I'm sure with such determination you'll ALL have success in the end.

My FS has just recently informed me my eggs are of poor quality. I'm currently trying to come to terms with the news.

My twin sister (fraternal) has offered me her eggs. I'm so blessed to have her in my life and to offer me such a generous gift.

Obviously it'll take time for me to process and accept there is a slim chance that I'll be able to conceive my own biological child. I'm aware that being the carrier will influence the development of the child but I'm having trouble getting my head around it not coming from my eggs.

Can anyone recommend any books or websites with information on accepting donor eggs and being the carrier?

Any advise or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and good luck with your cycles with the best possible outcome.

Helen.

Welcome, Helen! My clinic had a good book but of course I can't remember the name. Honestly, the only thing that's going to help you come to terms with it is time and love. It took my DH and I about 3 months to come to terms with it.

Telling my mom about it was the hardest thing (afraid she would feel guilty, afraid she would think it's wrong) but she completely sympathized with us and made us feel O.K. about it. For me, just talking about it with my DH and my friend who was going through IVF and my mom was the only way I could come to terms with it.

I think it comes down to how important it is to you to actually be pregnant. If it's not that important, then maybe adoption could be a good alternative to you. If you really want to possibly experience a pregnancy (which is where I am at), then you will have to accept that donor eggs may be your only alternative. There is no easy way to say it, sorry for being blunt. Just give it time and be easy on yourself. Don't expect you're going to feel good about this decision after a week as that mostlikely won't happen. But we're always here for you if you need us!! :)

Hi all -
Apologies for the repeat text from the other thread...I'm just popping in to touch base with everyone - I am so sorry I've been such a crap cyber buddy...but would like to pop in to say I've been reading all your posts lately and
I miss you guys alot!

After my last BFN (my 9th one) I had a bit of a melt down to say the least. You would think I would be a bit of an expert by now at taking this sort of news! I couldn't log on here without shaking and crying and it all became a bit too much to bear. I quit my job (stupid, stupid stupid), went to UK for a lovely holiday (fab!) And after eating all that wonderful British stodgey food (reminds me of home ), I came back fat, depressed and umemployed! I then proceeded to descend into a downward emotional spiral as I had throughly convinced myself that being broke and childless was not a good way to go through life...

Anyway - I am now slowly picking up the pieces. I decided I won't be spreading any negative vibes around and will only come back to spread some cheer and support as you amazing girls have given me in the past! As you can tell - today for me, is a good day...

Jen B - I love your karma babe - hv a great weekend away - you and your DH deserve it after all you're going through (there's more on the other thread...)

Rebecca - I'm sorry about your BFN but great news about the new job! (You are my inspiration to get a new job that I will LOVE!)

Kelly - So glad everything is coming along nicely - Congrats on the 12 week mark! Hope you had a gd break away- I play golf too (well, I've been trying too!)
Just wondering out of curiosity - do they suggest any tests at this stage or with DE do they not see the necessity of it all?

Lucy - Good luck with getting straight back into it with a FET - what stage are you up to now (sorry - hv lost track!) Wishing you a BFP!

Sonia - You've been through a lot dear. I feel like we're almost in a parallel universe of not getting the answers we need (as fast as we want them!) as I don't seem to be responding to the protocols and treatments for FET either (Lining is to thin...) But have patience and we will get there...! :)

As for me, I have a couple more frosties in store but am still too angry with my new clinic to go back. (Yes, there's still many issues I know I hv to work thru...! ) I need to get a job first and settle in before hand so I'll be dropping in from time to time just to check on my fellow eggheads.

Take care and a big hi to anyone else I've forgotten (it feels like it's been ages...!)

Rhalloo - How you doing?
Dogs in the office sounds fun. Good luck with your graduation next month bet you are well pleased.

Jenbabes - Hope you are having a great time with friends and keeping yourself busy. I really feel for you and hope it becomes easier.

Andrea - Glade you are back with us have missed you. Don't give up we are all here for you. Keep positive as it worked for Kelly in the end after all them tries. This is what keeps me going.

Kelly - Congratulations on your 12 weeks. Hows it going?

I am on the awful 2 week wait and not sure what to think as having the usual symtoms. My test date is the 18th April so hoping and praying that it will be a BFP.

Hi everyone,

Hey Lucy, great to hear form you. Thanks for calling in with your news. I’ve been wondering how you’re getting on and there you are well on your way to a BFP! Keeping thinking happy thoughts and hang in there. Have everything crossed for a strong BFP for you.

Rhalloo – how exciting to have graduation coming up – and with your fun job, time will fly by until the summer. Keep the good news coming.

Hi Helen, welcome. If you go back to the start of this thread you should find some books mentioned. “Having your baby through egg donation” by Glazer/Sterling covers a wide range of issues in detail but like Rebecca says there’s no easy way to coming to terms with egg donation. Important thing is that you and your partner take the time each of you need and end up together on the same page. We’re here if you need advice and support. Good luck!

Jenbabes – hope you’re having a fun weekend catching up with friends – you and DH both really deserve a break.

Andrea – yep you are right – patience and perseverance are important and we’ll get there somehow! Keep up your high spirits and keep looking ahead – your frosties are waiting for you… xxx

Kelly – how are you?

I’ve been busy the last 2 days coordinating my medical support team. News finally came from our specialist last week… all uterus tests OK... with a letter asking us to make an appointment to discuss further steps. So far so good, but the earliest we could get is in 2 ½ weeks time!

In the meantime I’ve been in contact with the DE clinic and went for a lining scan because AF is late. Need to get that sorted so that I can start treatment again before the clinic’s summer break. Anyway we got reassurance that we could go ahead again soon and donor situation is looking good for May/June. Now we just need to know how they intend to get me to transfer this time without an inbetween bleed. Just having to rely on them having a back-up plan and getting it all sorted out for us.

Hi to everyone and enjoy your weekend!

Love

IVF in Zlin Czech Republic

Post by patita »

hi,
I'm new on IVF and I had one that didn't work. I'm 40 yrs old, diagnosed with early menopause. i live in the states and like many of you know prices here are almost impossible to afford.
I was searching the internet and I found these clinics in zlin and I want to go on my own, my boyfriend and I don't have a lot of money and adding 2500 dollars to the total price, it increases our budget too much.
Has anyone gone there and have any commnets for me?
I'd really appreciate your help.

Lucy - you are PUPO!!! I sure hope that you aren't reading into those symptoms - they are the devil! One cycle they mean one thing and the next cycle they mean the opposite, so I am convinced they really mean nothing!!! I'll be rooting for you on Friday! I am sure the days can't pass quickly enough...

JenB - great to hear from you and sounds like you had a good weekend with DH which is awesome.

Sonia- glad to hear that all is a go and that they are going to come up with a 'new' plan for you. I have no doubt that this time it'll work for you and you'll get there. Way to go for your perseverence!!!

Andrea - awesome to hear from you. Definitely multiple repeated failures does not make taking that news any easier - it is probably harder really! It sounds as though you are taking the time you need to deal with the sadness and then as you said, once you are back on your feet then you'll be better prepared to move forward. I think it is inevitable that those of us who try so many times, end up having a meltdown. As for testing, my doctor did a nuchal test on me at 12 weeks but didn't discuss further testing. All he said was based on my numbers and the age of my donor he didn't think that amnio was necessary (yeah!).

Patita - welcome to the site! I actually did my first DE cycle in January (my 9th IVF cycle) and we went to Zlin to have it done. So, I can answer as many questions as you might have. Why don't you PM me and I can answer any of your questions. Just so you know, after 8 failed IVF cycles I am now pregnant with twins after my trip to Zlin - so for me it was well worth it!!!

Rhalloo - so great to hear that you are loving your job. I am so envious that there are dogs in the office. I would love to have my dog with me at work!!

RebeccaB - how are you doing? when are your twins expected to arrive? or have they already? hope all goes well!!!

Hi to anyone else I missed!

As for me, I am doing really well. We had a fantastic holiday last week - played lots of golf which was fun and took long walks on the beach. Boy was it nice to have sunshine for a whole week!!!

My morning sickness is finally gone - phew - and my energy is starting to come back. I still haven't moved into maternity clothes yet but I am sure that day will arrive soon enough. Not much else going on except that after hitting the 12 week mark the days seem to be passing much more quickly which is great! I know that the next 5 months are going to fly by.

Take care of you!!!

Hi ladies

just quickie to let you know me and the triplets are doing fine. I just got out of hospital after struggling for 7 weeks with hyperemesis (acute vomiting) which requires hospitalisation and life basically ona drip and living astronaut drinks YUK. am 19+3 weeks and lost total 10kg, put on 6kg at last, so was allowed home at last!! Basically now its like having no 2nd tri, I am huge like in end of 3rd tri withone baby, and all the accompanying minor but horrid problems.

Babies are thriving all 3 ranging from 19+4 to 20+4. each baby weighs about 350g already, imagine the bulk with 3 placentas, amniotic fluid etc. so as you can imagine I am exhausted. Probably will go into the university clinic to rest and await arrival from latest 28 weeks, average time for triplets to arrive is 32 weeks. This is only poss as the German health system has granted us a home help 9 hours a day, and once I go to hospital iy goes up to 12 hours a day (to look after my son who is 20months). In the Uk we'd be stuffed.

Srry for the me post, was just important 4 me to say Hi, just know that I love and think about you all the time, and wanted to let you know all is fine. Dont ever think FET doesnt work, this is my 4th pregnancy, each time 3 or 4 embies put back 3 times singleton, one live birth my son, and now FET triplets....I am coping but I dont recommend it!!! And I am scared sick of the next stage..

biggest hugs

Big (very big) J
POF+autoimmune+dh antibodies,5.05 DIVF IM M/c 7.5 wks, DIVF+TESE at ISIDA - son 08/06

JenB - you are the greatest! Actually Zlin is in Czech Republic but it is a small town (also the name of the clinic) about 3 hours from Prague so I completely understand why you've never heard of it! I'd do a ticker but I have absolutely no idea how to do it!

Lucy - how are you doing sweetie? hanging in there? Only 3 more sleeps to go!!!

BigJ - great to hear from you but it sure sounds like you've had quite the experience so far. Glad that you are now out of the hospital and home resting. And thank goodness for the German health care system because I don't know how you would manage without the paid help!
