How Early Can you get Postive w/ HPT After Frozen 5DT

Post by brenda3 »

I had a FET on 4/9 of 4 - 5day 1-hatching blast 2 blasts getting ready to hatch and 1 compacting . I have read on other message boards that most get a BFP with HPT by 5dp5dt or 6dp5dt. I have tested using a FRED (First Response Early Detection) on both days and got BFN's

Any chance I could still get a BFP?

YES you can still get a BFP. I read somewhere that with frozen it takes the HCG longer to climb for some reason. Ask Ghost why that is. Good luck!

Brenda,

Good luck. We're pulling for you! (but don't they say NOT to use HPT in order not to be happy or sad unnecessarily?)

Ghost does not know, but he can hazard a guess. We do see later hCG rises in FET cycles, and we think it's because the thawed embryo just needs a bit of time to recover from damage. It might also be an endometrial effect, since the endometrium has not been impacted by ovarian stimulation. Those are just guesses, we really do not know.

But detection of hCG with an HPT on day 5 is unreliable, especially if it's an FET and also if it's a singleton. We often barely see it on day 5 with the blood test, and sometimes it comes later. Once in awhile it does not rise until day 10.
