Ghost - Question

Post by sameera »

Ghost~ I had my ET on April 13th - they told me out of 14 fertilized eggs 2 were very good quality 8 cell embryos and were the best to transfer. Well they transfered them and all has been good.

Today I get the call from my nurse she said out of 12 fertilized eggs none were developing, so they are not able to freeze any :( This is a huge disappointment for me.

Is it normal for that many eggs to not fertilize and develop?? Now I am worried about the ones they transfered in me. What if they don't survive or implant.

Ugh, I am driving myself nuts just thinking about it. I know you cannot give me or tell me anything with certainty.

I guess I need some encouragement - Do you think i need to worry about the ones they transfered?? I dunno what to think :(

Try not to worry. Either it will work or it won't, and worrying won't help. Might even make things worse.

You cannot rule out a success from the failure of the remaining embryos. Some doctors think embryos do better in the uterus than in culture media. Maybe true for yours. Also, keep in mind they transferred the best ones into you, and it's the rest that failed to continue development. Not the same sample.

Sameera, I just wanted to wish you good luck and let you know that during my transfer the Dr. retrived 9 eggs only 4 fertilized, they transfered the best 2 and my remaining 2 never made it to blast stage so I had no frozen embies, I agree with Ghost just remember they put the best ones back!
