Paranoid or normal?

Post by LostGirl »

I am happily in the 2nd trimester in my 18th week. I feel so good that I'm a bit paranoid about whether or not the baby is still alive in there. I get my ultrasound to check for fingers and toes etc. next Friday but since I can't feel him/her move yet, and have NO pregnancy symptoms anymore. I'm spooked.

If you're further along I'd love to know how you felt during your second tri before you could feel the baby move. Good? Bad? Ugly? Fabulous?

The only reason why I think I may be feeling so good and energetic is that I've started exercising consistently again. That always boosts my mood.

Do I have reason to be paranoid? For the record, my mother said she felt so good during all 3 of her pregnancies that she wondered if she was on mood boosters. She was ecstatic. It used to annoy me when she bragged about that fact and I felt rotten - tired, bloated, gross, - earlier on, but now... I, too, am creepily on the verge of elation.

What gives???

Hi LostGirl
Everything you've said sounds perfectly normal to me. I've had very few symptoms at all so far - a few days nausea at 6 weeks and warm, tickly boobs but nothing much else.
I went to my 12 week scan terrified that they say tere was no baby there but everything was fine. I'm now 24 weeks and feel great still. I started to feel the baby move at around 18 weeks but only when I lay in bed at night and really concentrated. I think this was quite early but you should start to feel something soon, its the most amazing feeling.
Good luck with your us, its fantastic how much you can see at that stage.
Just try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy, easier said than done, but that's what I'm trying to do.
Best wishes
Su

Hi Lostgirl,
I also feel pretty good most of the time. I just get much sleepier at night time. I started feeling baby move at night time around 18 weeks, but I really had to concentrate. Before that, I think at about 16 weeks I could feel the baby move if I layed on my stomach( probably because I was squooshing the poor little guy!). Now at 24 weeks, I still dont' feel baby move all the time just mostly little bumpy movements in the evening or when I'm doing yoga.

One of my friends said I seem like I'm in a euphoric state because I'm just happy all the time. Another said "you're always giggling anymore." I guess I'm another happy prego. And you're right, in a crazy way it does make me a paranoid, like isn't it all supposed to be harder? My sister was sick as a dog through 2 pregnancies.
Anyway, I'm counting my blessings & enjoying the ride.
Take care,
2ndtimer
