Progesterone question....

Post by tryinginsac »

Ok so I'm pretty new to this message board and the whole IVF process. I'm 25 just did my first cycle, we did transfer on 4/12. Now my question is if I missed two progesterone shots on day 3 & 4 after transfer what effect does that have my pregnancy chances???

How did you miss 2??? I would call your nurse ASAP and get your levels tested. The progesterone is VERY Important.

I have no idea, but I'd like to know how you missed them too.

We went out of town, I thought I packed all my medication but I didn't pack my progesteron, cause it's in a pill bottle, and I grabbed the wrong one...

That's too bad. I hope it still works for you. Let us know what they tell you.

You poor thing, you must be worried! I actually asked my doc about the progesterone supplements and how important they are. He said that basically with IVF they prescribe the supplements to make 1000% sure there is enough progesterone which aids in the embryo attaching. HOWEVER, if you are pregnant, the body naturally produces progesterone to accomplish the embryo implanting. Basically, as far as I understand, it's a reinforcer on the off chance that your prog. levels are a bit low. Try not to worry too much, really. We all make mistakes (ALL of us), and as my doctor once told me, if a pregnancy is 'strong', it'll be successful, and if not, it won't be. Try to stay positive, and good luck!

Thanks sharishu for your support!!! I had my first HCG on Monday and it was only 18.6, second one today and it went down to 15.6!!!! So I'm pretty much stressed out at this point... The nurse said that anything over 5 is considered pregnant, but dropping is never good. She said that that usually means one of the embryo's isn't doing so good (we transferred 3) but I think she was trying to keep things positive. I've been reading other posts and everyone else's HCG numbers have been way higher!! So now I have to wait until friday to find out the next results. Hopefully everything will work out, but I'm worried :(
