MBG and Sharishu - Thanks for the welcome!

I'm happy everything is going well. Is everyone or anyone here feeling the baby yet? I'm not really feeling him move around yet and my belly isn't much more than it was (I'm kinda a big girl to start) . However, I hear his heartbeat and him moving around via fetal doppler everyday. I finally got myself to get with a friend of mine and do a walking routine. I want to be as healthy as I can be for my baby!

Schel67: I started to feel the boys move @ 20 weeks...they are getting a little stronger and I can feel them a little more with each passing day...it is such an amazing feeling! I am sure you will begin to feel your little one move any day now!! Mine felt kind of like a muscle twitch at first..I thought my stomach muscles were twitching.....now that twitch is just a stronger feeling...I think it is different for everybody!!

Hi Everyone!

schel67: Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the board.

I know I've been absent but I'm still around. I just haven't had much to write about. I'm still feeling movement from my baby since week 19. It felt like twitches before and now it's feeling like poking. My co-worker who is also pregnant with me (she's due 8/12 and I'm due (8/15) was explaining a bit more to me since she's had more experience with this. She has 3 boys, 2 years apart. This one she's also is carrying is a boy too. She told me what a hiccup feels like so that I can differentiate. Then she asked me if I felt baby kick my bladder ... not yet. She told me that that's one thing I wouldn't enjoy besides going to pee right then and there.

I see my OB/GYN tomorrow. I find out if I continue the daily PIO injections or drop down administering it weekly. Or he may move me to suppositories. NO WAY!!! I don't like those things. The other day, I thought that something was wrong with my right leg. I felt this radiating discomfort tingle that started from my hip down to my foot. It really hurt to walk. I called my doctor and he explained it that my husband might have aimed to high w/ the injection or baby's weight is pushing all to one side pinching that sciatic nerve. I felt okay just couldn't put weight on my right foot. It was a challenge to walk.

Hope everyone is doing fine. I'm still fitting into my jeans yet. Hooray!!! My sister-in-law gave me some of her maternity clothes. So I may not need to purchase any. Thank goodness that I wear scrubs at work.

Hello all! Welcome Schel67! Hope you enjoy our board! Congrats on the boy - this is certainly the boy thread it appears!

I am sorry I have been absent lately, but work is kicking my tail! Philly made for a long trip and yet the mtg went well, so hopefully something positive will come out of it! It just sucked to get home so late on Wed night (after 11 p.m.) and then I had to work late Thurs night - ugghh! We wnt to my OB/GYN yesterday - no scan, though! I tried everything, but I think my doc is on to my tricks now!! :) He promised one at the next appt - in a MONTH!!! That is when I will do my glucose testing - such fun! But little Noah is doing well - he is a very active little guy!!! I woke up early Wed morning at my hotel in Philly as I just couldn't sleep, well, then little Noah wakes up and starts moving all over the place. I was trying to go back to sleep, but he was on the move!! I guess that is what it will be like when he arrives! It was kind of funny. We had dinner at a friend's house last night who has a 7 year old and 4 1/2 year old twins. I still remember when her son was 2 and the twins came along - I thought she was going to lose her mind! We all laughed about it last night. But she is the sweetest and most laid back girl in the world, but she had her hands full at that time....oh....and she was on partial bedrest with the twins while trying to raise their 2 year old! There was another couple there who just had a little girl 4 weeks ago and she was so cute. The wife was saying yesterday she had a breakdown and was screaming at her husband last night about how tired she was and couldn't take it anymore. Well, we of course all laughed at that as well. I am sure that is coming for me at some point!! :) My husband just kind of sat there taking it all in as the veteran father (with the 3 kids) talked about how his wife hated him for 2 years and the new father just sat there laughing about his wife screaming at him last night. I think my husband probably came home last night and worried himself to sleep about what is to come!!

Karen - I hope you get off the shots! I hated them. God - how I hated them. You are my HERO for being on them so long!!! :D

Marybeth - how are the boys??? You must be feeling all kinds of stuff with two of them! How fun! Love the names!!!! It is such fun when you already have the names. Now, when I rub my belly, I say "Ok, Noah. Settle down, little guy" and it does seem SO REAL!!! Sullivan and Miles - yeah!!! Noah will have internet boy buddies! :)

Seltzer - Hope you are feeling better! I keep hoping one day you will wake up and miraculously feel better! I know it is tough when you don't feel well as you want to be able to enjoy the pregnancy. I read an article that asked women after they had their baby if they missed being pregnant and 69% said "no". :D

Su - I can't believe you are already 6 months. I still remember our struggles on the IUI thread! So great that it worked out for both of us!! :)

Shari - How are you? Congrats on feeling the baby move! Isn't it just the best feeling???

Ok, I am off. I am going for my 3 mile walk this morning. My back pain is still there, although not quite as bad. I just think I am going to have it throughout the pregnancy - esp with how active I am all the time. This afternoon I am having a 1 hour prenatal massage and a 30 min facial. I can't wait!!!! :D I leave for another DAMN trip Monday all the way East coast again - this time Southeast - out to Charlotte, NC. I HATE TRAVEL!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!!!   I can't wait until I can't travel anymore. I don't mind the short trips but flying on these little planes all the way across the U.S. sucks!!! Oh well, it pays the bills, right??

Take care all!!! Love to all of you!!

Yahoo!!! (I think)

I just came back from the OB/GYN. I've been down graded to weekly administering of 2cc PIO. Doggoneit! Oh, well ... all doctors are different. He couldn't hear a heartbeat right away because baby was moving around too much.

In two weeks, I'm scheduled for a glucose test. YUCK! I'm not looking forward to it either.

Hope all is well with everyone else.

Karen

P.S. I bought my first maternity top and shorts. (I couldn't resist even though I still fit my clothes and I have the ones my SIL is letting me borrow.) I couldn't turn down a price of $5.99/each)

Karen: Glad to hear your shot level has gone down! I still can't believe you still have to administer those darn shots.....your poor hip!!!

I also can't believe you are just now getting into maternity clothes....you are soooo lucky! I feel like I haven't been able to wear "my" clothes in forever!!!!

Enjoy it while it lasts!! My belly is so big it laughs at my old pants!!! I have gone ahead and taken everything I can't wear and put it into storage for next year!

Glad to hear you are doing well!!

Hi ladies!
Wow! It's been a while since I've checked in! We were on break from teaching last week & had beautiful weather - especially for the Northeast - into the low 80's! Needless to say we spent a ton of time outside (with tons of sunscreen on) & gathered up enough energy to finish out the school year! June here we come! Yipeeee!

I've been feeling the kicks & punches from our little one left and right! I just love it! I talk to her a lot & tell her that it's okay if she wants to punch and kick mommy! DH hasn't been patient to hold his hand on my belly long enough to feel a kick...until tonight! We were sitting on the couch, I had just had a big bowl of frozen yogurt, & she started kicking like crazy! I lifted up my shirt & we could actually see my belly move! DH quickly put his hand there & he yelled out "Oh my God! I can't believe it!" He got a little teary eyed, it was a very sweet moment.

MBG - Love love love the names, especially the nod to your maiden name. If we lucky enough to have a second baby someday, that will be the first name choice - boy or girl. This one's name, I think we'll keep secret until she's born.

My SIL had her baby boy on April 11th! Perfect timing b/c we were off work all last week to help them out w/ our new nephew & their nearly 3 year old daughter. She worked the entire day of the 11th (she owns a skin spa) drove herself to the hospital around 4 o'clock, when they examined her at that point she was 4 cm dilated! By 6:15 she had the baby! God I hope I go that fast! It's just so much fun holding a newborn, as my neice says, "he's just so cuddly & cute".

FYI, my SIL loves the new (I think they're new?) Medela bags that you can pump into. She says they're easy to use, & they're space savers. I registered for a bunch of them! Speaking of registering, I think I finally finished that task! It was tough work, but worth it!

Marybeth:

Thanks for your kind thoughts. My DH was also relieved when I was told that I only get to have once a week shots also. I think I have enough PIO supplies until week 35, if I counted right.

It seems as though, my waistline started to expand as soon as we got the okay from the doctor to tell everyone of the good news. If I knew that there would be a correlation between telling everyone and my baby bump showing and growing, I would have kept my mouth shut a tad bit longer!!!
(I'm only kidding.)

Hi Everyone!
Can't remember if I've said it yet, but Welcome to the August thread & Congrats on the pregnancy Schel!

Hope everyone is doing well. Seltzer, so sorry you've been having such a rough time. I guess some pregnancies are just like that. My poor sister was sick as a dog through both of her pregnancies. I think she's been a little jealous that I've been feeling so good for mine, but hey -I had to go through about 7 years of crap just to get to this point, she can get over it.

Marybeth -how big is your belly now? My has gone from about 28 inches to 39inches so far! And I just have one in there. I love your names you picked.

Tina -I hope your Charlotte went well. I'm in Raleigh, NC. I also like Noah. I'm not sure how you keep up with all the travel, you must be very tough.

Karen -congrats on getting to decrease the progesterone shots to once/week! I hated the shots. As nasty as the suppositories are, I would have been BEGGING to switch.

Nancy -my DH has also not had the patience to keep his hand on my belly to feel a kick until just this past weekend. It was a special moment for us, too. Thanks for the reminder to register.

Shari -hope you & baby are doing well.

As far as myself, I've been doing pretty well. No complaints. We went to the beach for the weekend for our anniversary & had a nice time other than me running over a big curb and screwing up my car so that the passenger door won't open anymore. So now I need to take the car for estimates & I really don't even want to know what it's going to cost. I'm also switching jobs at the same company, so I'll need to go in for training soon. I just had a breakdown one day & decided that I hate my current job. Probably not a good idea to make big decisions while hormonal, but too late now.
DH & I are currently in negotiations about baby's name. We've been IM'ing each other all day with ideas, offers & counter offers. We had so many people ask over the weekend if we'd picked out a name yet we both got stressed & realized it's really time to get it done.

I better get going & get some work done before yoga.
Rebecca

Just wanted to share a really good resource with you all:
safemama.com
Check it out if you get a chance. It helped me with choosing the right brand of bottles to register for, specifically ones that were BPA free. I also read the other day on their site that Toys/Babies R Us are phasing out all baby bottles/feeding products containing BPA by the end of 2008. That's good news!

Hello! Hope everyone is doing well! Well, my college roommate had her little boy on Tuesday! Big shock - she wasn't due for a few weeks and he hadn't even dropped yet. Long story short, he wasn't moving at all that morning and it started to freak her out. She tried eating, moving around, etc. He just wasn't moving. She went ahead and called her doctor's office and they told het to come on in and let them check everything out. Well, she then got the unexpected news that she was going to deliver VERY soon! It ends up she had been leaking fluid for a little while and didn't really know it (because as you all know we have all kinds of lovely stuff going on down there on any given day), so the baby wasn't swimming around in enough fluid so basically the doctor compared it to a person in the desert with little water. You try to conserve your energy because of the lack of fluid - wow! That was why he wasn't moving that morning. Of course, it freaked her out. Her cervix was not dialated at all and the baby had not dropped. They gave her a choice of inducing and the doctor said it would be a long labor (probably a couple of days) or doing a c-section at 4 p.m. that day. She and her husband decided on the c-section and little Tyler arrived that afternoon - healthy baby boy weighing 6 lbs, 11 oz. So, this story taught me to trust my motherly instinct (which she feels is what made her call the doctor that morning) and be prepared!! She had her bag packed, but certainly thought she had time still to get some stuff done (she was taking next week off and was getting her hair and nails done, getting his clothes washed and put in his drawers, buying a few last minute items). Well, and I guess as we get later in our pregnancies to watch out for little things that maybe don't seem like such a big deal but could be - she said she noticed more than normal going on "down there", but it wasn't that much and she just didn't think anything of it. Anyway, the good news is that her baby is happy and already breastfeeding like a champ. I am so happy for her! :D

Well, Noah now has his crib and a bookcase in his room. It is coming along slowly! I need to go ahead and get his dresser/changing table. I had originally ordered one, but decided against it. So, need to order the one I want now. We have chosen our paint colors for his room and I am having curtains made - I can't wait to see how it is all going to come together!!! :D This is the fun stuff!

I keep trying to see if my husband can feel him move, but nothing yet. But geez - he bounces around on me all the time!! Why do the husbands have to be so impatient with keeping their hands there?? :D Nancy/Rebecca - That is so awesome that your husbands got to feel it!!! That had to be such a wonderful moment!!

Rebecca - After I read your post, I got out the measuring tape. My husband and I were watching the Spurs game and I walked in the room with the tape measure and started wrapping it around my belly. He looked at me like I was nuts!! Well, I have gone from a 27 inch waist to around 35, but I tell you that was 2 days ago and I swear it has grown since then!! It is crazy!! I think I am up about 16-17 pounds now! YIKES!!! I really don't eat bad!! Well, except for the Oreos but let's not talk about that, please. :?

Karen - Girl, you scare me! I can't believe you just started wearing maternity clothes! Were you really tiny to begin with and if so, is your doctor not worried about you not gaining weight? Starting to look pregnant is such fun - enjoy it!!!

Marybeth - Your 20 week bump is CUTE!! You look great!!! :) I just posted my 23 week shot.

Hello to everyone else!!!! I gotta run! Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Hi All,
I just wanted to add to Tina's story about her friend. The same thing happened to my sister during her first pregnancy. She just happened to have a check up & the MD discovered that her amniotic fluid was really, really low. She had no idea that she was leaking a little bit at a time -and she's a labor/delivery nurse who knows a lot about this stuff. Any way, she choose to induce labor instead of the Csection & yes, it was a long & horrible labor. She just had her heart set on a vaginal delivery. After hours & hours, she was finally getting close and her epidural fell out of her back. The pain was too severe, so they had to turn off all the meds for inducing, restart the epidural, wait for an hour, then re-start inducing. She ended up with a huge episiotomy incision, horrible hemorrhoids, & numb legs for a couple of days from the nervous damage.

The whole thing taught me 2 lessons: 1. don't just assume you're leaking urine later in your pregnancy -call your MD for anything that seems out of the ordinary; and 2. don't be overly afraid of going ahead with a Csection. It's major surgery, but I'd rather go through that than 2 days in the hospital inducing labor. Ideally, I'd rather have a vaginal delivery with an epidural, but if there's any problems I'll just go ahead with the Csection and get it over with.

Take care everyone,
Rebecca

Wow...so much good info. from you ladies...I am learning a lot!!

Dancinnancy: Thanks for the web address...I am going to check it out! I had never even heard of BPA...what is that? Anway...so much to think about!!! Glad to hear all is well with you and your little girl!!

I too am jealous, as I feel the boys all day long, but as soon as I tell my husband one of them is moving and he puts his hand on my belly they stop. He doesn't have the patientence to hold his hand there long enough!!
We did have something cool and strange happen on Monday of this week. We were sitting on the coach watching TV and chatting and I glanced down at my belly to see this strange lump coming out of my belly!! I was about the size of my fist, so I think it was either Mile's head our butt...not sure which one!! It was really hard and gradually just sunk back into my belly. My DH was a little freaked out..he said it was kind of alienish!!

Anyway...think I know what Braxton Hicks contractions feel like now! They just started this week and only after I have been working on my feet for several hours. It is like my body is telling me to take a break! Once I lay down for a while they go away...it kind of freaked me out, but I spoke to one of the nurses in my Doctors office, she told me not to worry about it...just to relax and put my feet up whenever one comes on.

I am starting to log when I begin work, when the braxton hicks come on and how far apart they are, so I can discuss with my doc at my next appt. on May 5th....I may have to start working 1/2 days.

I had a girlfriend that was pregnant with twins and @ 32 weeks she went into for one of her routine checkups...only to find out she had been leaking fluid and had to have an emergency c-section!! I guess it is not as as uncommon as it is common!

Rebecca: You are right...we have to listen to our bodies and not be afraid to call and ask our docs questions! We have all come to far not to!!
I think it was you asking how big my belly was now.....It is about 39 1/2 "!!! It grew 2 inches this past week!! I love to see this...It means my boys are putting on weight each and every day!!! I also love my pregnant belly! When I am getting ready in the morning I can't quit staring @ it!! I think my body is more beautiful pregnant than it ever has been!!! I will probably not feel the same way after the boys are born and my taught belly becomes a little squishy!!

TinaO: I will have to check out photobucket to see your latest bump!! I am about due for my next belly update!! I will have dh take a pic next week for my 24 week update! Can you believe we are 6 months pregant already!!! Where has the time gone!!!!
Glad to hear the nursery is coming along! Mine is as well...I just spoke to pottery barn and my changing table/dresser should be arriving next week!! Sooooo excited..it will be our first piece of furniture!!

Well I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Marybeth

TinaO: Just looked at your most recent pic on photo bucket...you look great!! No hiding you are pregant now!!! :D Also, Love the chair and ottoman you are sitting on...It looks like a comfy a place to curl up and take a nap or watch TV!!

I forgot to tell you girls about my snoogle!! I don't think i have told you anyway!! Bought it a couple of weekends ago and now cannot sleep without it!! it is a body pillow shaped like a C...you can flip flop back and forth all night and the pillow can stay in the same place. It elevates you head and your belly! GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! My DH wants to use it too, but I told him hands off until the boys arrive....and then we can TALK about it!!

Well I am off to see "Baby Mamma"....looks so funny!! I will give you all review later!
