Where to buy IVF medication - need advice please

Post by 3p »

:?: :?
I am 35 and have had 3 attempts at ovulation induction and 3 of IUI on NHS in last year - all unsuccessful. Still on NHS IVF list after 3 years and no chance of my name cropping up soon so today I went to a private appointment and will be starting treatment next month.I've been told that if my GP can't help fund the medication for IVF I can buy it from "Organon Homecare" for less than the cost of a private prescription. Does anybody know how to contact them? I have searched the internet to no avail.
Thanks.

I use :
Clinovia LTD
Unit 7
Coldharbour Pinnacles Estate
Lovet Road
Harlow
Essex
CM19 5UL
Tel: 01279 465705

Open Mon-Fri 9am - 8pm

I found these to be cheap but you should shop around cause I know that there can be alot of difference between clinics. Also when I had my first 2 ICSI TMTs My doc said no but the clinic told me that I was in a certain catchment area and as long as my FSH was below 10 and I was under 39 I could get them free which I did cause luckily My FSH was normally 10 and the 16 but the month before TMT it went to 6.4!!!! so I was very lucky indeed. Now I am at the Care clinic in Northampton. for the first 2 ICSI's I was at the John Radcliff Oxford (this is where I got the free drugs).

Good Luck
Hope this Helps

Hi there,

I have used Organon in the past - I'm pretty sure I have their number at home so I will try and dig it out for you and either post it at the weekend (if DH brings his laptop home) or failing that on Monday. Have you tried asking your clinic - I know my clinic has a list of suppliers.

But I have also heard that Clinovia are the cheapest place to get drugs and I was going to get a quote from them next time. I read on another board that Boots come out quite reasonable as well - so they might be worth trying.

Thankyou so much everybody, I'm going to follow all the suggestions up and will let you know. The clinic [Swansea] told me about Organon Homecare but had no contact details for them or anybody else.
So glad I found this site, really helps to read about other people's experiences, I feel quite isolated in all of this.

Hi there, I had a look for the number of organon and unfortunately could only find the fax number and address - but these might be some help to you (I know if you fax them through your subscription and ask for a quote they will contact you):

Organon Homecare
Calea UK Ltd
6 Christleton Court
Stuart Road
Manor Park
Runcorn, Cheshire
WA7 1ST
Fax: 0870 749 2021

I had also got the name of another company that I think is competitive:

Serono: 0808 100 1231

I'd appreciate if you could let me know which ones you find the cheapest - I'll be starting again in March so it would be a great help.

Just to let you all know that after a fair amount of research I found out that:
1.Clinovia and Serono are the same and can't provide Puregon so I didn't pursue this.
2. Boots said they couldn't yet provide any IVF medications.
3. Calea and Organon are the same and can help me. They were excellent. I sent the private prescription by post, the next day they phoned with a list of prices and I made the order then paying by Visa card. They arrange to deliver it by courier on a suitable date but it could have arrived the next day. I confess to being shocked at how "cheap" the medication is. For Suprefact 5.5mls x 2, Puregon 600IU x 3, Pregnyl 5000 IU x 2 and Cyclogest pessaries 400mg x3 boxes [45] the cost is £550.84 less than half of what the clinic would have charged!
Thanks for all the help
