Hi Faith, I really don't know. I think it is a thing that you and DH need to decide when the time comes. I haven't even discussed it with mine as we are too scared to even contemplate it.

I really feel for you right now. I couldn't even go on this forum right after my BFN. I went and got trolleyed (drunk) with my friends and gave my husband a lot of love. It will ease but will never go away. Just when I think I am fine someone else tells me their 'good news'!!!!!! Not that I begrudge them, it just hurts.

Everyone you talk to will tell you different stories about how long it takes to work so I try not to listen to them.
I have decided that it didn't work for me because my body felt so beaten up after ER and was so full of hormones that the poor little thing didn't stand a chance. I am going through a natural cycle FET this time so no drugs except for one injection and progesterone pessaries. This time it will work!

I hope this helps but I am no expert
Take care

Welcome to all newcomers, especially first timers! It is scary, but once you get started with the meds you catch on quick. Unfortunately, the stress and worry don't go away so you just have to do what you can to stay calm and positive, which is why a lot of people try acupuncture, massage, etc.

I have not had good luck yet, but there are lots of people who have had success with just one cycle, so hopefully this will be the time for all of us.

I live in Delaware, just over the Pennsylvania border.

Neffi - so jealous you are at the beach - enjoy!

BichonMom - we too had to pay in thousands this year for taxes- pretty devastating when we thought we'd get a refund! I love the federal government!

As for me, no AF today  Hopefully this weekend - I am anxious to start this cycle! Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello to all of you - I hope you don't mind me joining your thread. I have recently joined this site and posted under the topic 37, nearly 38. basically I have a 3yr old boy called Gabriel who was a fab result of a second IVF attempt back in 2004. Now my Hubby and I have saved enough money to give it another go and I am a little nervous about going through it all again. I have been reading loads of posts and it reminded me how great these sites are (I use to post on fertellitext) and how much support people give to each other. I don't think I would have coped very well with my previous IVF experiences had it not been for being able to share/discuss it with people who know what the hell you are talking/feeling about it all. I have been really worried about being older and IVF statistics (here in the UK) being lower than when I was under 35. But I realise that I have been so hung up on negative thoughts and forgotten the positive ones! You guys have reminded me of how important hope is! Anyway I am also proof that it can happen for you and I am lucky to be blessed with Gabriel, so maybe he can be blessed with a sibling. I start my Buserlin spray next Saturday and menopur injections towards the end of May. So probably ET approx 2nd week of June What is BCP? Good luck to you all and wishing loads of Babydust.

Prawnster! You are our lucky charm...It is fabulous to have a success story on the thread.

Faith--You put such a nice spin on lancing oneself with sharp objects! From now on, like you, I will imagine myself as a chemist. A modern day Marie Curie--without the radiation poisoning! :) Regarding your question about how many cycles, I am with KYW on this one...It really depends on you and your Dh. I read recently that Brooke Shields did 7. A friend of mine did one and stopped even though she got a BFN. I have read in numerous books and articles that it is a good idea to decide how many cycles you are willing to do before starting treatment. Dh and I have decided we will try up to 3 and then sit down and reevaluate the situation.

Question for everyone...Has anyone found a good method for dealing with friends and relatives who announce their "good news" or interacting with pregnant women and newborns? After my MC, I was a mess. I went to my nephew's birthday party and started hysterically crying in front of a pack of 4 year-olds and their doting parents. I am going to a christening this weekend and I would like to avoid any drama.

Have a magnificent weekend!

Haven't found the best way to deal with it yet. Every time I think I have it sussed it pops out and bites me in the bum.

The worst one was when everyone else knew my friend was pregnant and they decided to tell me on a night out. I wondered why everyone was stood watching me as I was told! Needless to say I crumpled. I would have been ok if I hadn't had a vodka or two and wasn't being scrutinised by a group of people.

I haven't gone into a pub toilet with a friend and cried my eyes out for years - not since I was dumped by a spotty 18 year old!

Have just realised I sound like a complete alcoholic - I am not I promise!

ps Prawnster where do you live in the uk
I am in Hampshire

I just got home from work and can tell this message board is going to be verrrry addicting :) It's the first thing I opened up to check! The weather is getting warm and I am just excited for the summer to start - its been a brutal winter here in Wisconsin (speaking of which, AdsGirl - you said live in Wisconsin - what part? I am in Kenosha and my RE is Fertility Centers of IL in Gurnee)...so for my first round of IVF coming up here soon, my DH and I are part of a study group (so no costs for us for this one and only round), so we have to consider if this doesn't work, then hopefully we can have enough eggs retrieved/fertilized to do a FET as our next course of action...has anyone been through this? Just curious - I don't know much about it...we have a consult/exam on this coming Tuesday, so I should get some more info then...
Also - i liked how Faith88 said that the whole process of administering shots was like being a chemist - that made me giggle - i liked that analogy :)

Hello Ladies! A lot of action on the board today! Wow! I'm going to do my best to keep up (I agree with whoever said it's addicting!)

Kimmy and Prawnster - Welcome! Prawnster, thanks for sharing such a positive story with all of us! Glad you both joined the thread!

Karen - You are too funny! I don't think you sound like a drunk at all...I think we can all relate!!

On the topic of canceling family obligations, I can relate with Neffi and Irishhope. I am contemplating bailing on a family obligation in May, but everyone in our family is planning on us being there. If I don't take time off work, I just don't think it's wise to put myself through the additional stress of traveling on a weekend when I could otherwise relax. We'll see...the stress caused by everyone wondering why we're not there doesn't sound so appealing either!

Faith - Welcome! Sorry to hear about the BFN...I just know this is your time! I also thought your take on the shots was funny, but I think the whole chemist approach will work better on my husband! He keeps saying how bad he feels that so much of this (**all of it**) falls on me. Maybe I'll get him a lab coat and tell him to get to work! (and do the dishes while he's at it??)

Hope you all have a great weekend...anything fun planned? I'm supposed to go to the Brewers game tomorrow night, but it might snow!!! Yikes!

By the way - Queenie, I live in Brookfield, just outside of Milwaukee. I drive past Kenosha and Gurnee at least a couple of times each week for travel down to Chicago. I considered checking out the fertility clinic that you're going to, but decided it was just too far...although if I had known I could have gotten a free cycle out of it, I would have reconsidered! Hope you're comfortable there!

The funny thing is, I used to live in NJ, but traveled for work all over the Mid-Atlantic, including Lancaster, Reading, DC, all of Jersey (including Oradell!), and to DE, including Brandywine (is that near you, Lisa?). Not to Virginia or the UK, though!!

Lisa - Fingers crossed that AF arrives this weekend for you!

Cheers, ladies!

A big WELCOME to all of the newbies! It's really great to be able to share personal experiences with those who know and understand what you're experiencing and to give support.

Faith88 - I live in southern MD.....about 20min from the WW Bridge. I'm working on my third IVF cycle with Shady.....I also heard that they're a really good clinic, so I have faith that my time is coming. :) As for the weather, it's been lovely, but get ready for the rain.

kyw - I also had to have a drink after I got my 1st and 2nd BFN. A glass of red wine calmed me down and put me right to sleep.

LB - Isn't it ironic how much we look forward to AF while going thru this? When I think about it, it makes me laugh......I've NEVER looked forward to AF so much until now. Yours will come this weekend.
