MBG-
Sounds like your snoogle is doing the trick! I just bought a regular body pillow & it's really been a god send! Every now and then, when I wake up at 2 am to go to the bathroom, I'll come back to bed only to find that DH has kidnapped my body pillow! I have to wrestle it away from him...which is no small job considering he's 6'4"!

So the BPA thing...if you go to the safemama website, go to the search by category, and click on Bisphenol-A. A wealth of info will pop up, which they update daily...but if you scroll down to the April 17th article titled "BPA Crash Course" it will fill you in. Basically it's a chemical used mostly in polycarbonate plastics (PC), which are used in: baby bottles, sippy cups, sports bottles, canned food / formula lining, and jar food lids. Bisphenol-a is a known endocrine disruptor. Meaning it has estrogenic properties which, in recent animal tests has shown to cause a bevy of health problems such as;
precancerous tumors
uro-genital abnormalities in male babies,
a decline in semen quality in males,
early onset of puberty in females.

Canada has banned all baby bottles made with it...and I think California has done the same (not sure about that one). Safemama updates daily their safe bottle list, which is not just glass bottles. Here's a link to their list of BPA free bottles & such:
http://safemama.com/2007/11/22/bpa-free ... eat-sheet/

Like I said before, Babies R Us has announced that they're phasing any products made with BPA by the end of 2008. Which is great, but the timing is a little off for us. I'm hoping to receive my bottles long before January 2009!

It's definitely a personal choice, I just thought I'd share what I had found.

Hi All,
I've also got the Snoogle & it's wonderful. Last weekend at the B&B I tossed and turned all night without it. I highly recommend it or another total body pillow to help get and stay comfortable at night.

Hmmm....sounds like I should check out the snoogle! I sleep with 3 pillows - always have - one between my legs, one under my head, and I hold onto one. However, they are thin pillows and I think I need thicker ones these days. Loved your stories about your husbands taking them away from you!

I am feeling like we need to get moving on Noah's room. We had the wood floors put in (not sure I told you all how my cat conufsed her litter box with the carpeting in there - I know - how gross - she is 15 years old!!), we have the crib put up, and we just moved a book case in there that we had in our study. However, I need to order the changing table. Marybeth - which one did you choose from Pottery Barn? We are going with the Larkin. I just know it takes a while to get it in and we had originally decided to order the entire Madison changing system and then cancelled the order. They tried to charge us $290 to ship it back (even though we cancelled it before they delivered it) when I called their 800 # and I asked to speak to a Manager. They ended up issuing me a store credit for that amount, so I just need to wait until early May when it arrives. Then I can order the changing table. We have the paint colors picked, but have not started on that yet. I don't know I know I am being silly, but I just hate waiting until the last minute for things. Ok, now to the mattress. I have been doing research and have decided to go with the Colgate Classica I foam mattress. I have heard it is a great mattress and top-rated by Consumer Reports. If you want to check them out, you can go to www.Colgatekids.com. I also posted a picture of Noah's crib on photobucket. The bedding is just kind of thrown in there right now and wrinkled as we don't have a mattress obviously, but you guys can see it. You can even see the "faux" Noah we have in there - a teddy bear wrapped up in a blanket - ha ha! :)

Marybeth - Let me know about the movie - I want to see it! It got good ratings!

Dancinnancy - You look great in your pic - just saw it! You are making a beautiful pregnant mama! Not a chunky one like me! :D Speaking of that, I think I need to go out on my walk.

Take care all!

TinaO: We got the Kendall extra wide dresser/changing table...It should be here sometime next week!!! My dh and friend are putting the carpet in the nursery as I type!! So excited!!!! Good to hear PB gave you a credit..ordering things online is convienient but can also be a pain in the butt!!

I will go on to photobucket as soon as I get off here to check out your crib and dancinancy!!!

"Baby Mamma" was a REALLY cute movie!! You Know how some of the Saturday night live stars that do movies would be better off as a skit and not whole movie....this is not like that at all! Tina Fey and Amy Pollard are both really good actors...not to mention HILARIOUS!!! We laughed and laughed and I even got a little teary. I would definately recommend it!!

Dancinnancy: Thanks again for the info...I registered at babiesrus for some Advent bottles, but not sure if they are the ones listed as BPA free...I will have to go back and check it out..or I guess just exchange them If I get them as a shower gift.

Well girls, it is a rainy and chilly day her in the big LR....a good nap day!!

belly rubs to everyone!!

Hi ladies,

2ndtimer: Mmm .... yum! Dark chocolate is actually what I love.

Anyways, how is everyone doing? I'm doing okay. Went to the OB/GYN this past Friday. He told me that I'll be getting off the weekly 2cc PIO injections at week 28. I was ready to do a "victory yes!" until he changed his mind then said, "stay on it till week 30. It will actually be good for baby."

Oh...

My sister-in-law just gave birth to a baby boy yesterday. My brother is on Cloud 9. 6lbs 2.2oz. 18 inches long. We went to see them last night at the hospital. So my brother was telling me that I'm next ... yeah, in about 3 months or so.

Now, I just have to avoid getting my belly rubbed by other people (anyone and everyone). I'm beginning to notice I feel really uncomfortable when others do it to me.

Then my mom calls me out of the blue Saturday night, tells me not to have anyone rub my baby bump belly. It's a freaky superstition. It's gotten me all worried. As if I need anymore stress, right?

Glucose test coming up on Saturday.

Take care everyone ... Karen

P.S. DH and I went window shopping this weekend. I just wanted to get out of the house. Still waiting until my seventh month to start going hog wild on baby shopping. (again, it's a superstition). My DH could not believe how many COMBI stroller we came across in a one hour period. I think it was 13. 2 Graco 1 Peg Perego 2 Safety 1st. 1 Britax

Hello ladies!! We just got back from our 4d u/s. IT WAS AMAZING!!!

I have posted some pics of each of the boys on Photobucket.

She was so informative and wonderful, I wish my u/s tech at my Dr. office was more like this u/s tech!!

She looked at their spines and their bellies to make sure they were drinking fluid...she measured from their ears to their eyes to check for Downs, she even looked at whether their fists were clenched tight or opening up to check for some other abnormality...They both checked out GREAT and Healthy!!!

Miles weighs 1lb 5 oz and Sullivan weighs 1lb 7 oz...Miles weighs a little less because he seems to be a little more active. It is crazy how you can already get a sense of their personalities! When miles moves he is quick and thrashes with his entire body, where Sullivan is a little more laid back!

Both babies like to keep thier hands up by thier face, rubbing thier eyes and sticking thier fists in thier mouths... She said that is something they will continue outside of the womb. The habits they form in utereo generally continue on after they are born.

If you can't tell I am a little excited!! It was just so great to see them and get a feel of what they are going to look like!!! And to find out just how healthy they are!!

She also told me, I am measuring what a 30 week singleton would measure....she said that I will really sart to get uncomfortable in about a months time. Wohoo!! Can't wait!!

Anyway..check out the pics! They are soooo cool!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Marybeth

Hello!!! Where is everyone lately?? :)

Marybeth - How cool!!!! I was debating doing a 4D U/S, but now after reading your post - I think I WILL!!! It sounded so amazing and the pictures were SO cool!!! How amazing!!! I am so happy for you.

I had a busy day yesterday. I went shopping for Noah's room and decided not to buy his dresser/changing table at Pottery Barn as it really is too expensive sometimes for what you get. I found this great store here that had wonderful furniture and so much better priced! They are so sweet and since I could not decide between 2 chairs, they agreed to order both of them for me in the fabric I want and whichever chair I don't want, they will just keep in the store to sell. Isn't that nice? I went ahead and ordered a dresser from them with a hutch and it was much larger with much more space for the same price as what I was going to order from Pottery Barn. I just hope it matches well with the crib and side table I ordered from Pottery Barn. I took a knob in from the table and matched it, so hopefully I did not screw it up. :)

I also went by this maternity store to pick something up and they were giving free 10 min massages, so I plopped my butt right down and enjoyed a nice little massage and then they gave me a beautiful rose and off I went to lunch and to get a pedicure with my best friend. How nice is that? :)

Oh - and I started prenatal yoga and really like it. I went to a more "advanced" one the first time and really kind of struggles, but the next time was a beginner's one and MUCH BETTER! If you have not tried it, it can be great. I am hoping it will help my back pain.

Take care all! Hope you are all doing well!

Oh yeah - I forgot to mention one thing. I kind of freaked out yesterday when I saw on my slip from my doctor that next time I am there (in a couple of weeks), they need to do an ultrasound because it showed a diagnosis on my chart as "low lying placenta". My doctor never really mentioned it. I remember when we were leaving after he did a quick heart beat check on the baby, I asked him like I always do, "So, there is NOTHING we need to worry about, right?" and he said "No, I just need to check the position of the placenta next time you are here" and then said something else about it that I don't recall. But he never said I had a low-lying placenta. I just happened to notice it listed that at the bottom of the sheet they gave me to bring back for my next appt. What is weird is that the last ultrasound I had was 3-28 when we found out it was a boy. That had to have been where maybe they noticed it, but no one said anything? I researched it and I guess figured out that it isn't a big deal as most cases resolve themselves well before they become an issue, but it still had me a little freaked out at first. My next appt is on the 19th, so I guess I will know more then. Hopefully it has all moved up fine by then. It really sounds like that is what usually happens. Has anyone else heard of this? I guess if it progressed, it becomes placenta previa.

Hi all,
Can't believe how far along we all are! I am growing (outwards) every day, and I feel stretching now, so it seems I'm going through another growth spurt; or rather, the baby is going through a growth spurt :).

Tina- I know that feeling of uneasiness when the doctor gives you one of those by-the-way comments; it can send you into a panic! What to them is no big deal at all can sound scary to us. I am sure it's nothing to worry about, just standard stuff. At my 23 week ultrasound, the perinatologist said "everything looks great. Oh, by-the-way, the baby's head looks a little big." Huh?! Of course she knows it's nothing to worry about, but all I can think of is 'big head'! I calmed down since then. My point is, these comments are routine to them, but to us (especially first-time mommies) it's ample reason to freak out. I would say it is nothing at all to worry about. Rest easy. :)

Be well, all.

Tina: Don't get too panicked. Like Shari said, your doctor probably just considers it something to "Watch" not anything to worry about. I agree with you though....every little thing freaks me out. I was reading my book "Twins Triplets and Quads" and it said my doc should be seeing me once every 2 weeks from 24 weeks on....my doc still has me on a monthly shedule...I am like...I want to be seen every 2 weeks!!!! I am going to talk to him during my next visit if he doesn't say he wants to start seeing me more often!!

All of my nursery furniture is from different places. I don't think it matters if it matches "exactly", just as long as it all blends together! I can't wait to see some pics of little Noah's room!!

I would definately recommend a 4D ultrasound to anyone!! It was such a wonderful amazing expiereince!

Everyone has been pretty quite lately...hope all is well with everyone!!

Hi all,

It's good to hear that everyone is doing so well.

I'm still just window shopping. When we were at the hospital, I noticed that my brother brought along the nursing pillow that I gave my sister-in-law at her baby shower for their first one. It's sure got a lot of miles on it. My brother was telling me that he went to get it from the car and as he was carrying it in, all these girls were telling their other half that what they would need in the near future. The thing is, the baby store I bought it at seven years ago no longer carries it. They only carry the BOPPY and MY BREAST FRIEND. The other stores that I have visite only carry the BOPPY. The one that I got her looks like the BOPPY but it has velcro tabs at the ends that are adjustable due to size of the person.

She told me that she received a BOPPY also but only uses the one I gave her because she could stand up and not worrying if the pillow will come off.

Well, I guess I'll continuing to search the web.

Take care ...
Karen

P.S. - I'm awaiting the results of my glucose test and I'm suffering from u/s withdrawals. I haven't had a u/s since week 20.
