Switching to bottles

I have been breastfeeding since my baby girl was born and have tried giving her the bottle since week 6. She is almost 8 weeks old now but she wants nothing to do with the bottle. She cries and spits it right out. I am going back to work in June and am desperate for her to take the bottle. I have been pumping and giving her breastmilk but to no avail. I have tried different nipples and different positions to feed her and my husband has tried too. Does anybody know any tricks to get her to take the bottle? I know I may have to just give in and try harder to the point of just doing a nursing strike in hopes of her starving until she takes it. Am I too harsh or is this the only way?

If you have to go back to work you will have to plan a strike unless she changes her mind! Try the different bottles mulitple times, put some breast milk on the nipple first, try different times after she wakes up, try add a little bit of formula to your milk so it seems new and different but don't give up. My twins both refuse the bottle now and will only nurse so I do understand. I haven't had to strike yet but may have to one day!

Try different flow nipples as well. My twins would only drink from very slow flow bottles. Good luck to you and I hope something works.
