I'm starting my injections for IVF tonight. I was told to do 375 units of Gonal-f and 15 of low dose HCG. The dose for Gonal-F seems high compared to what i been reading. Is the dose different depending on Lupron vs. low dose HCG protocol or my RE just thinks I'm a low responder? Also I was told to do injections just once daily. Is that typical?

Well, it all depends on your b/w and the u/s is how the doc determine the dosage and also your history. so you may not be a good responder. I know on my first lupron protocol I had follistim of 300 IU. I respond very well to fertility drugs.
as far as the once a day shot, I don't know about that, i wish i could be of help in that area, but i took follistim twice a day. in the morning and the evening. I can't remember if i took low dose hcg in the morning and the evening. I would definitely call your nurse back to verify. good luck

First le me congrat you on being so close to having your baby, its a great feeling that you are on ur way.
I was deemed a low respnder as well after my day 3 day antral follie count of only 11( im 27 doc says im supposed to ahve atleast 20 total). Anyway he ascribed a dose of 450 units for 2 days then 225 for 2 days then 150 for 2 days. I made 17 follies but only 7 were mature all 7 fertilized but only 1 made it. I am now 16 weeks pregnant.
I know its a great outcome as far a a + hpt and a confirmed pregnany. But in my previous cycle i was only on gonal 75 units and made 7 follies all were mature but didnt get prego becus on my transfer date my we found out my cervix is very narrow and my transfer was a nightmare it was an hour long and i bleed constantly.... So my embie didnt stick
I say this to say i believe for me 450 was to high i think it fried my 17 embies. I mean yes 17 is a great number but if u only get 1 good embryo out of it, whats the point? I got a second opinion and the doc aggreed that 75 was to low but 450 is to high 300 would have been suffice. But i got preggo so i didnt have to try again.
I didnt take hcg unitl i used it as a trigger.
I was on birth control pills for 1 month then lupron for 3 weeks( which i was told is too long, that 10 days is suffice) then i begin gonal adn then i added menopur while reducing gonal.
Its sad to say that this ivf stuff is trial and error, the docs has to to see how you respond to know whats better if there is a next time. Im sure your doc has you on the appropaite protocol for you, and if you are ever concerned ASK QUESTIONS, get second opions. Go to www.haveababy.com, and ask the docs there. There are so many diffrent protocols it hard to say what works and whaty doesnt.
