I Have a beautiful 3yr old boy who was a result of a second IVF attempt back in 2004. I am about to embark on IVF again as myself and Hubby would dearly like to have another miracle. However as I am 38 next month I am feeling a bit pesimistic and wondered if there are any other women out there who can share their thoughts/experiences with me. I do appreciate how lucky I am to have had a successful IVF and wish this wonderful joy to all of you.
I am 38 and will be 39 in August. I have three children (20, 18 & 17) from a previous marriage and have since be divorced and now engaged to be married and started my first IVF attemp in Dec 2007 and got pregnant the 1st try. I am now 17 weeks pregnant with one baby and am doing well. Please check out my profile to see all of my post or go to the Nov/Dec cycle buddy list here. That is were I did most of my posting.

Hi! I am 37 and have been ttc for 7 years, undergoing 2nd IVF. Please don't be so negative as you have already had success and so have a better chance than most at conceiving again. Imagine what it is like to not yet having had any success at this age - if you read the boards you will see women in their 40s trying and hoping and not wanting their optimism to fade. I think their stories would help you to look at things more positively. Good luck! x
Thank you Washingtonda for your reply and I am so pleased that you are about to be married again with a baby on the way as an extra special bonus. I hope the pregnancy goes well and I will check out the Buddy list to see what journey you went through and help me get my head around the whole process again.
Jeanie, I have been reading the boards and can see how many older women are trying and hoping that one day it will work for them. I really wish everyone as much luck as possible and admire individual people's optimism and their strength to keep going. I think I am just scared of going through it again and how to deal with disapointment. It is sites like this that put everything back in to perspective again and help you through IVF. Thank you for your kind words and I really hope it is this time lucky for you.x
Prawnster, o please girl you will be fine compared to some of the other women i saw in my cycle you are a baby... and most of them wen on to have succeful outcomes. The question isnt whether you will get preggo, you will, the question is ...are in shape to be running after the terrible two's again??
Best wishes.... Post again and keep us updated on your cycle
I was 37 1/2 when I underwent IVF. I had a high fsh (13) and also hubby had what they call slow swimmers. I became pregnant with twins and now have 2 beautiful boys as a result. It is important to get the best clinic that is available to you. I think if I went to a mediocre clinic I would not have been so lucky. Good luck this time around.
Wow thank you everyone, it is amazing how much you have made feel so much more positive just hearing your stories. Kabillion, your boys are beautiful and i love their names. Good luck to you tennisgurl, i hope you have a great pregnancy and enjoy that bump! Mbre - wow yes running around after toddlers is something that keeps you in shape. My 3 yr old gabriel is still a frantic toddler and doesn't stop chatting.
I am looking forward to getting started now. Thank you x

Thank you Tinao, wow I love the name Noah. I love biblical names, they are so strong and full of meaning (not that I am particulary religious) but I do thank someone for my miracle! I hope you have a lovely pregnancy and are proud of your bump. I loved being pregnant and was so proud to show it off to everyone. I unfotunately had an ectopic pregnancy exactly a year after Gabriel was born and lost my second fallopian tube (well the other one is completely blocked) but at least my body conceived. So I feel fate is going to work in my favour again, especially with all these positive vibes I am receiving. Thank you x
Hi! I also have a 3 year old, who is the result of our 1st IVF attempt. I was 33 when I had him, and I am now 36. (37 next month) We had our first FET in April, and got a negative. But I started taking my BC on Wednesday, to start our next go round. This will be our final attempt, so I'm really scared. But I think we're going to put in 3 or 4........we're still debating!!
Good luck to you! Will this be another fresh, or a FET?
I'm going to be 40 in November and I'm going through my first ivf right now. I had a transfer of 2 high quality blast on the 24th of April. I'm waiting for 05/05 to have the results.
I've never been pregnant before and I have lots of hope and even more optimism that it will work. So stay positive, and take it one little step at a time. I put all my positive energy on what was going on and wishing for the best results. I only had 3 follicles and 2 had eggs... but they developed perfectly. But I did it all with one ovary, so I'm very happy! So never stop hoping and don't get discouraged if it doesn't quite go the way you want because maybe in the end it all works out!
Lots of luck and tons of good vibes for you. Baby dust your way !
Hello everyone and thank you all so much in taking the time to share your stories and give me some positive energy, it has really helped.
Good luck Valrie68, I really hope you get a BFP, fingers crossed x
Good luck to you also MyBoyParker, we could cycling at the same time. I will be doing fresh egg transfer as I have never had enough to freeze as yet. We may be able to this time but it depends how much money we have as it is soooo expensive! Good luck x
