Lostgirl- I am sure time will start to slow down. Right now with only one more week of college and 6 weeks of elementary school, it is crazy busy around here. There is also so much I want to accomplish around my house before I am too big to want to do anything. I am sure this summer will be the longest summer of my life.

I know that a lot of first time mothers deliver late, but my dr told me that they do not left ivf patients go past their due date. She said they would induce before or on due date, and most induce before. This is why we are kind of expecting an august delivery. I am hoping for august too because I am sure I will be cranky by the end, and august's birthstone will look much better with mine and dh's stone on my mother's jewelry. :D

MLB- I would be very scared if I saw anything too. I read that any light bleeding or spotting during pregnancy is normal. It said heavy bleeding and pain is what you need to be concerned with. Maybe you are too stressed about the dissertation?? I bet you will feel better when that is all over...good luck with it!

As far as pads and pantyliners- I have had to wear them all the way through so far, because of moisture, I don't know why. Anyone else had this? Everyone says it is great not to have your monthly friend during pregnancy, but quite honestly, I would rather have that than have to wear a liner everyday.

MLB - Good luck with your dissertation. It sounds like you're very stressed out so for that reason alone I'm not surprised that your regular walking has felt tougher, or just impossible. But as for weightlifting for the first time in 22 weeks,it's not surprising that it would be tough. ANY exercise you haven't done in 5 months shouldn't be a cakewalk when you try it again. And on top of it, all bets are off when you're pregnant!

I say focus on making it through this tough time, and then see how you feel in a week. If your doctor says don't worry about your bleeding, then don't. Focus on what you can control: finish that darn paper and getting a more balanced life back!

The weird thing is that I HAVE been walking/hiking and lifting from week 8-22. Now all of the sudden, things feel terrible that felt ok a week ago. Weights that I lifted easily 2 weeks ago were too heavy yesterday. I guess I will just chalk it up to stress and re-evaluate in a week after I make this silly presentation to my committee. Part of the problem is that my paper was submitted 2.5 weeks ago and though I have some little things that I can do before Wednesday to be better prepared....mostly I am just waiting.

Then, of course, we all have another 17-20 weeks left before baby. So, the waiting will continue...just waiting for a different thing. I feel like I have been waiting for something for 1/2 year! (waiting to start treatment, then for the big harvest, fert report, transfer, 2ww, first trimester, etc etc.)

Thanks for the support ladies. I will try not to worry as long as the doctors (and let's face it - I only ever interact with nurses really) are not worried. I was a little scared that I might be put on bed rest for a few months. THAT would drive me out of my mind.

I was born at 27 weeks 30+ years ago when premie care was not as sophisticated. SO, a few more weeks and the little one will have a fighting chance if everything is not ok.

CT_Michelle- I have three older children who were all delivered by C-section so having a natural birth was not an option for me. I wish I could try it.

As for me, I have been shopping for our baby girl like crazy. She already has a wardrobe. This was one of the reasons that I didn't want to find out because I knew I wouldn't be able to resist.

I'm feeling a little bit better. My stomach doesn't hurt too much anymore after eating but I still have these terrible back pains. Those are very annoying when you want to get out and do things but are worried that when the back ache hit all you want to do is lye on a heating pad.

Well have a good weekend all of my dear mommies!!!

Hey -- Where is everybody at!!!! Our board is growing cold

Got a quick question for mommies 20+ weeks or more. I just hit my 20th week today and I wanted to know when should I shart feel the baby move from the outside.

It moves and I can feel the flickers inside but I can never put my hand on my stomach and feel it that way or when she moves, I can nver look down and see the kicks. When should I start to feel the kicks and see the movement from outside?

Washingtonda, I don't know when you start to see the baby kick. But I'm at week 21 and when I put my hand on my belly I feel the baby kick. They are getting harder with each passing day, and s/he freaks out every time I eat, which is often enough because I try to eat 3 meals and 2 protein-carb snacks a day. I feel better, and that way the baby gets a steady stream of nutrients.

As for back pain, do you walk WashingtonDa? I ask because my husband suffers from back pain, and the only thing that helps sometimes is walking. Sitting is a problem. But walking tends to lessen the pain. So don't give up on exercise!

The last 10 days or so I have been pooped again. I need more sleep (10 hours!) and haven't been able to exercise too much without feeling weepy tired at the end of the day. I figure it's a growth spurt of something, because I have also had strong cravings for carbs and cheese the past few days. It's been a little nutty. I'm just rolling with it, and figure I'll try swimming on Wed and see whether I can handle some more intense exercise. Or whether it makes me want to nap at 2 (something that's an impossibility at work). lostgirl

Hello ladies!

I hope everyone had a happy mom-to-be day!

Washingtonda- I hit 24 weeks today and I have been trying desperately for dh to feel from the outside. When I went for my 20 wk ob appt, she said dh could feel as early as 24 weeks, but most of what we have read says closer to 28. Sometimes I put my hand on my belly and I think I can feel from the outside, but I think that I am only thinking I feel it because I can feel it so well on the inside. I have not seen any kicks, although they are getting stronger everyday.

I am excited- finally done with this semester! Dh and I will have so much more time to get ready now, like painting the baby's room and shopping for essentials. Are you girls done yet? I hope you are soon, it is such a relief to be through!

Well, I am off to cook dh a nice dinner! I need to bribe him so he won't give me a hard time when I want to watch the bachelor finale tonight...

Talk to you all soon!

Now I'm totally perplexed by the timing of these things! My dh sits with his hand on my belly when we watch TV and he has felt the baby on his own. After I feel a kick, I ask did you feel that ? Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. But some kicks are so robust he just bursts out laughing or says "OH!"

And I'm week 21 4 days.

washingtonda,
Don't worry, you start feeling those kicks more every day. They will be stronger. I started feeling flickers at 18 wks, but the stronger kicks came at 20-21 wks. Some days I can see them, and I let my DH feel them too. It is amazing experience. But some days I don't feel so much. However, the kicks definitely are getting stronger.

Thanks Girls -- Just as I asked the question, we were able to actually feel her kick last night. She's been pretty quite today but I think we're on to something.

LostGirl -- I have started walking to see if that eases the back pain and it's actually working. Or something's working. DH gives me a good back rub every night so I'm sure that helps too but when I get up and walk, it does ease the pains.

I don't know obaut you ladies but I can't wait for September to come so I can have my little one. I can't hardly wait. DH and I are trying to find a nice summer trip for next month so we can say that we had at least one nice vacation before the baby arrives. Everything is so darn expensive and evrything he comes up with is expensive and my mind set now is that we could buy something really nice for the baby with that money. I know I need to losen up because we are not strapped financially but I guess it's that motherly instinct kick in.

We have two interviews with childcare providers that we are thinking about getting when I return to work in Jan. Yes they say start early and let me tell you if you don't already know, I have not found one yet that is less than $170 a week.

Well hope you all have a good afternoon. The weather here has been crappy for the past few days and we are finally getting a bit of warmth and sunshine. I'm gonna get out of work early today to enjoy.

Gosh I don't know if my little one is having a growth spurt but for the past 10 days I've been pooped. First-tri pooped. 11 hours of sleep a night isn't curing this sleepiness. Alas, that's the thing I dislike about pregnancy, you never know when your good spell is going to get snatched away from you. Sorry to complain but I guess I wanted to know if anyone else felt this way round about week 21-22.

lostgirl, in need of a nap.

I slept so much in the first trimester that I was sorta mad because I didn'y feel functional. It got better around week 14 and now it's back started a like week 18. It's not half as bad as the first trimester but all I want to do is lay around a i nap everyday for at least 2 hours and sometime off an on all day on the weekend.

I go to bed around 900-930 and i get up at 600 for work so I'm getting at least the recommendd 8 hours and im still beat. I just pray that this gets better by the time the baby come or DH wil have his hands full. I feel like I am getting very lazy and this isn't usually me.

I hear you WashingtonDA, I usually have too much energy, so much so that only exercising daily makes me act more calm and adult-like! Now I feel like I'm at half-mast. Plus, I'm mad hungry. I am rushing around trying to get my life in order so that when I'm truly large I can just sit. And read. And worry about my future. I am a worrier and pregnancy isn't squelching those feelings, only making them stronger. Thank god for my sane DH. lostgirl

My energy has been up and down also. Some days I am exhausted and other days I just want to get as much done as possible.

DH finally felt something last night. He still isn't sure what he was feeling, but he was a little creeped out. He said it was like I had a belly full of snakes. That is because the baby was rolling around rather than kicking. He was excited about feeling it though.

My mom bought us a crib the other night and we ordered a changing table. I am going to buy paint for the room today after work and dh says he will paint next week so we can start getting the furniture in the room.

Yesterday was the first day that someone who did not know I was pregnant questioned someone I work with, so I guess I am officially starting to show now. I have a feeling now that my belly is growing, it is going to be a rapid progression to being very large.

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? It is dh's b-day and he is graduating with his BA next week, so I want to plan something nice for him. I am also going for a pedicure tomorrow and shopping for my maid of honor dress with my best friend. We need to special order a maternity one, since by august 2 I am guessing I will be pretty big.

Hi Ladies. Sorry it has been so long....but the defense is over and I passed unconditionally. YEAH!! I started my revisions this weekend and they won't be as bad as it seemed when the committee was enumerating them for 1.5 hours. I have been reading the board now and then when I needed a break.

Lostgirl - I am tired these days...but I think it is a result of finally being done. For weeks before the defense I wasn't sleeping much and had a ton of energy...adrenaline I think. Then it was over and I crashed. Had to make my Mom drive home after shopping Thursday because I was too tired to drive. BTW...a friend with a 10 month old said that she was told NOT to drive during the 8th and 9th month. Anyone heard this?

Washingtonda - we are very excited for September. I feel like it will NEVER get here. Since you have had children before I guess you can tell us how slow/not the last bit goes...

CTMichelle - SO envious that you have a WHOLE room for the baby! It must be fun to pick out the colors etc etc. We will put the baby in a crib in our room. We got a used crib and changing table. That is it so far for baby stuff. A friend gave me a mother and baby necklace, but I am too nervous to wear it - don't want to jinx anything.

With each week that goes by (week 24 now!) I am a little less anxious because I know the baby has a decent chance to survive if it was born early. I'm still bleeding...it has been 2 weeks...but it doesn't get worse. I have been trying to walk an hour a day but it is slow and not very comfortable because the baby is so low that all the pressure is just above my pubic bone. I can't even let people feel the baby kick sometimes because the kicks are so low!!

OK - back to revisions. They will never complete themselves, sigh.
