I'm a first time mommy and hope to be able to connect with other first time twin mommies for support.

Hi there!
I am only 10 weeks preg with twins but I would love to be in touch with you.
If you dont mind my asking, how has your preg gone and was it what you were expecting? I am still getting my mind around this!
June 13 is a great due date..its my moms birthday and always a lovely sunny day!
XO Sara
Hi Sara,
Congratulations on your pregnancy! My pregnancy has been a fairly easy one compared to most. I am very lucky in the sense that I never got morning sickness! I was always waiting for it but it never happened. There were a few times in the beginning where I was queasy but nothing serious. I haven't had any weird cravings. I mostly craved fresh fruits and veggies, which is what I liked to snack on. At work I always kept granola bars and p.b. crackers in my desk. I drink mostly water and the only soda I had was sprite and that was only when we went out to eat. I did seem to get big fast but with twins and ivf that is typical. I did go to the gym most of my second trimester to walk on the treadmills but towards the end I was getting too tired. I'm now on bedrest which is a protocol with my dr office. Please feel free to ask me questions and keep in touch.

Thank you so much for being in touch!
It sounds like you have had a great preg, which is so good to hear. I have been reading Barbara Luke's book this week, which has helped answer a lot of questions. It puts a major emphasis on making sure you gain weight. Normally, I would think that sounded great, but I am not so into food these days. The fruits and veggies are what is appealing to me. With a single preg, that is excellent, but it seems like with twins they really want you to GAIN WEIGHT in the first trimester. I am sure my body will start to fill out. The IVF put me 5 lbs up. But in the last three weeks I havent gained anything (?!).
What kind of bed rest are you on? Do you have to be lateral at all times and only get up to shower and go to the bathroom. How many weeks are you today? Is it going ok for you?
Are you getting excited for your delivery? Do you know if you will have a vaginal or C section? Seems so personal to ask but not sure (sorry!?). I have had vaginal births with my other two kids.
Enjoy bed rest. It sounds good to me right now, Im tired!
XO Sara
Hi Sara,
A good book to read for a good laugh is the girlfriend's guide to pregnancy. Although since you've already done the pregnancy thing before you may not get too much from it but it is a good way to look a pregnancy.
I am having a C-section. I was told by my ivf dr that most drs will not deliver multiples vaginally because the risks of complications are so high. Mainly being that both babies will not be turned the right way.
My bedrest is suppose to be doing nothing but laying down except to get up to go to the bathroom/shower. However, I've been breaking the rules. I do housework like a quick vaccum or a load of laundry here and there. My husband works long hours and if I wait for him to do things on his days off then we have no time together. I do make him do the grocery shopping the lifting is too much. I only go out to go to the dr appts now.
Don't worry about your weight gain. There is no set amount of what you should weigh, even though books try and tell you what is expected. I basically eat when I'm hungry and eat as much as I need to until I feel comfortable again. Many people told me that I looked small for twins. It wasn't until my 3rd trimester I really started to gain major weight. In the beginning I ate ok and then the 2nd I got hungrier and then would plateau. Then in the third I'm hungry again but can't eat as much b/c I get full faster so I'm eating more snacks throughout the day.
I am so ready for these babies to be born now. My back hurts more now and its hard to be comfortable. I am 33 wks today and we just had a U/S today and Taylor who is baby A is weighing 5.4 lbs and Jaqulynne (Baby B) is 4.7 lbs and my cervix is perfect. So all is going well.
One difference you have with twins as you get to around 26 wks you'll have dr appts every 2 wks and u/s depending on how well things are going about once a month.
Where are you located? I'm in Virginia. How many times did you have to do IVF? Were your other children through IVF? Try to get rest I was exhausted in the first trimester and when the 2nd hit my energy returned.
