Starting injections tomorrow

Hi all-
Well after 6 mths Clomid + failed inseminations, we're starting GonalF injections tomorrow! I'm kind of nervous because I don't handle needles very well. Even with the triggers shots before, I couldn't do it myself. Luckily my dh thought it was no big deal. I'm just hoping the GonalF ones in the belly don't hurt too bad.

I guess they'll be monitoring me by u/s and blood every 2 days because we don't want to create too many follies. My two sis-in-laws have multiples and we don't want to break the family record, you know?

Anyhow, if anyone else is starting shots this week, maybe we can keep in touch and compare notes. Thanks!

Hi ya
I am on my 2ww but just wanted to stop in and say goodluck!!! I have talked to lots of girls that didn't like doing the injections. My DH works away so I had to do them myself but it didn't hurt. The tummy ones seem better than the leg ones. Anyway all the best!!

hi rainbowmoms-
I've done 5mths Clomid + 3 failed IUIs. So I'm now on cycle #2 of FSH shots + ovidrel + IUI. I started the FSH shots on May 9 and go in for blood/ultrasound every 2 days. When are you starting- May 13th?

Hi not hopeless yet, Yes today I went in for baseline and started clomid. On cycle day 8 which is Sunday I will start with 225 iu of Menopur until follies are ready. What is your protocol. Kery can you give your protocol as well that got you your BFP. Congratulations girl. I am so happy for you.

I was on 50iu of pregnal for 11 days then triggered 18 hrs before iui. After the iui I was on pregnal every third day and progestrone every day up to my test day (16dp). How are yo both feeling?

Hi rainbow-

I did 50mcg Clomid and my only side effects were hot flashes. The last IUI we did with Clomid we also used the Ovidrel trigger shot.

Then we started FSH shots - I am using Gonal F prefilled pen. I started at 75iu and now they have us up to 150iu for 10 days. I will again use the Ovidrel before the IUI. The injections in my tummy really don't hurt at all except the higher dosage burns a little more afterward. And the only side effects I'm having are mood swings and mild cramps/bloating.

But it's all worth it!

Hi girls, Keri thanks for the protocol. Not Hopeless Yet seems like you are doing good with that protocol. As for me I am on my second day of clomid `100mg then on cycle day 8 which is Sunday doctor changed my protocol to 150 iu of Bravelle and 75 iu of Repronex which is 225 iu per day. Then I go in on day 12 of cycle which is the 22nd to check follies if ready then we do HCG trigger 10,000 units then IUI 12 hours and 24 hours past trigger. Does this sound like a good time frame to do IUI or should I do it 24 and 36?

yea I guess everyone is different and every clinic does things different but it sounds good to me. I was only on a small dose as I have no fertiity issues. My clinic won't do a iui if there is more than two mature follies. Are you doing two inseminations? I only did one but I have heard that some do two. I have my scan on Tuesday to see how things are going.

I've only done one IUI at a time but I, too, have heard that some people do two. And I think that's great! As far as the trigger shot goes- your doctor knows best but I've always done it 24-36 hrs after... You'll have to let us know how you're feeling and it looks like you and I will be on the 2ww together. So let's keep our fingers crossed for each other.

Looks like we are all doing good girls. keri, make sure you let us know how that scan comes out. Hope the little bean is growing nicely and got all comfy in there. Today is day 6 for me but not feeling too much of nothing. I can feel my eggs growing because I feel little twinges here and there every day. Well my doctor is hoping to see 3 or 4 eggs for me because of my age. I dont have any known fertility issues except my age. Well you girls have a great weekend and I will check in on Monday because I will be in San Diego this weekend. Good luck girls and lots of baby dust Not Hopeless Yet. Hugs

So today is our 11th day on shots. Last cycle we only did 10 days plus the trigger. Now our doctor wants us to keep doing them til Tues night and in again for blood/ultra on Wed. So far we have two 12mm follies on right, 13 & 14 mm on the left. How big do they have to be in order to ovulate? Because we told them we want to be conservative - seeing as how there are already twins and triplets in our family due to IVF. Luckily I'm feeling fine, not too much cramping, bloating, a little bruising from the shots in the belly, and my hormones are pretty much in check! hehhehehehe.

Hey girl, well seems like your eggs are getting there. My doctor says he likes to see them at least between 18-22 mm then do trigger. you should be there by tomorrow. Hopefully they all wont get that big and you will only ovulate like the two biggest on th left side. let me know how your scan comes out. Today is only my second day on injections so i dont feel too much. little crampy here and there. I am very excited today because I ordered my swimmers to be delivered on the 22nd. I am usding two vials this cycle. It is so hard to know exactly when that crazy egg decides to pop out. I think it will be safe to do 24 and 36. Now last month Doctor did HCG on Friday at 5:30 p.m. then she said to inseminate 24 hours later. My temp on Saturday morning was still low then on Sunday it jumped up so I knew I had ovulated but how do you determine if you ovulated during the day on Saturday or at night on Saturday?

You're right, the doc said they expect the left siders to be 18mm or bigger before trigger. But my dh is totally anxious and doesn't want to do the IUI if there are more than 2.
You sound in good spirits as well! Are you using donor sperm? I'll be thinking of you this week... your swimmers will arrive on the 22nd and 24+36 hr insemination sounds like a plan. Honestly, I think depending what time you give yourself the trigger will indicate when you ovulate the next day. But i'm not certain. And I bet when the temp goes up you still have atleast 12-24 hours.
