Due date gone - induction planned for Sunday

Post by alison p »

 Hi guys,

Well, my due date has been and gone without so much as a twinge! I keep telling the baby that it's lovely and sunny and warm out here, but it obviously doesn't believe me!

I went to the hopsital yesterday and saw a doctor about being induced. My feet are still hurting, and my BP is creeping up (although they aren't worried about it just yet), so they said that I could come in and be induced on Sunday if nothing's happened by then. I've got to keep an eye on my urine to check that there's no protein - it seems that this is more worrying to them than high BP.

The doctor gave me a sweep yesterday which was not very pleasant, but it doesn't seem to have done anything yet.

I've done the hot curry - no reactions and the longish walk (not that I can waddle very far) - again no reactions. Now it will have to be the sex - but I must admit that looking like a Michelin man doesn't really make me feel very sexy :? . However, the midwife said that it might get things going, so it's worth a try. Finally, I may also try a bit of acupuncture - that's supposed to help get things going.

So, it's just a matter of waiting now! Don't have too much planned this week except for chilling out, having long lie-ins and maybe a bit of swimming (seems to help my puffy feet by getting the circulation going).

I think that what's getting to me is that I just want to meet my baby and to find out what sex he / she is. After carrying them for so long you just long to meet them and find out what they look like don't you?

Will keep you posted anyway,

Alison xx

Gosh Alison

How frustrating for you. My friend had 3 sweeps and she said that they are horried so poor you. I expect being so close to meeting your baby either boy or girl is so exciting. I can't wait to meet mine in June. I have a long wait ahead.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing your wonderful news soon. Take it easy.

Love Dagny x

Hi Alison

I hope all goes well on Sunday or hopefully before it. Anything is worth a try. It must be a great feeling to know that you are going to finally meet your babies on Sunday or hopefully before.

Hi Alison,

Thanks for letting us know about an update on you, its all go isn't it, you and I are neck and neck I reckon. The thing is day by day you say is today the day but then nothing happens. Is a sweep the same thing as an internal  I had an internal on Friday but they said to me the cervix was closed and the babys head was down but not far enough.

Alison you must keep us posted on how things go, I do look out for your posts each day.

They do say about hot curries and weve tried that, yeah walking I done enough of that on Sunday and still nothing. People do recommend Rasberry tea have you tried that? I ain't done anything, has for a touch, well I'm not so sure on that one to be honest not sure with the bump being in the way lol

Well keep me posted, and I will let you know how things go for me, my little one is due on Thursday but if nothing I am at the hospital on Friday so they may give me an induce date as well.

Good Luck.

Hi,

Yes Shell - I guess a sweep is the same as an internal examination - if a bit rough. It's supposed to help induce labour, but only if you're ready. I wouldn't recommend it, but I'll do anything at this point, plus with us all having been through IVF, we're used to our bits being prodded around!

I have been taking the raspberry leaf tea for a while now. However, I was using the teabags, which someone said didn't do anything. I'm now using the loose tea that my hubby bought me for Christmas. It's not too bad to drink.

I'll try and log on each day now. I have an appointment to check my BP again tomorrow. If it's gone up again I have to go to the hospital, but I reckon it will be okay.

I'm glad Shell asked what a Sweep was....I was gettting confused with his mate Sooty!

Alison, the waiting must be unbearable, but I'm sure s/he will be worth waiting for and you'll soon forget the puffy feet!

I was thinking about you still being at the top of the rollcall list. The race is on between you and Shell who will 'drop' first! And how exciting two surprises for the rest of us - will it be boys or girls???

Lets hope you don't have to wait too much longer to find out.

Good luck

Hi Alison,

If you do get chance please log on and post just to say how your feeling because its nice to know. I know you may not always feel up to it but please try. The internals or should I now say from Nikola Sooty isn't very nice at all. I felt like I needed the toilet when I had mine and it did hurt and I bled afterwards but luckily the bleeding as gone now. I know we should all be used to our bits being prodded but that takes some beating with what I had on Friday, omg the thought of labour well I ain't thinking about it.

I hope your blood pressure as gone down tomorrow when they check it, please let me know.

Love
Shell.

 Hi all,

Still no news!! My BP had gone up even further this morning, so I;m now having it monitored daily at my GP surgery.
Had some acupuncture this afternoon to try and induce labour - hasn't done anything yet, but it's a bit early. I'm having some more on Friday if nothing's happened by then. If it doesn't actually induce labour, it should help prepare my body for induction on Sunday so that I may only need 1 or 2 pessaries of prostaglandin (that's what the acupuncturist said anyway).

Other than that, my feet are still hurting, but at least there's light at the end of the tunnel at last!

Hi Alison,

Well I have been keeping my eye open for your posts hoping there would be some news, but I guess we must be as bad as one another, who knows we could have them on the same day now. I am now 40wks pg today and my feet are also sore and painful. I am back at the hospital tomorrow so I will know more information tomorrow, maybe they will give me an induce date.

Keep me posted.
