I live in Spain and have therefore only experienced IVF terms and protocol in Spanish so there are a couple of things that I would love to be enlightened on if someone could spare a couple of minutes.
I`m on my 3rd cycle and after each transfer they have sent me home with what seems like a standard pregnancy test. I fell pregnant on my first cycle. After ringing to inform that the test had come up positive, it was congratulations all round, they called me in for a blood test and wham bam thank you mam. Not so much as a hint of beta this or beta that. With my second cycle the HPT was a negative and that was that no blood test no nothing! So my question is what is the protocol in other countries?
My second question is and I know that this is going to sound really silly but what is a chemical pregnancy? I`ve never come across this term.
I am due to do my test tomorrow but since I have been peeing on sticks all week I already know I have a BFN.
Anyway good luck to all you cycling at the moment,
x

A chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage. Your beta will come back positive but then begin to drop because the embryo detached very early for multiple reasons. I hope that this cycle works out for you. Did you have a healthy baby from your first BFP? Good luck

It's called a chemical pregnancy, or biochemical pregnancy, because the pregnancy was only identified chemically. That means it was lost before it could be seen on ultrasound.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
Daisy...in answer to your first question, in Australia (at the two clinics I have been to), they discourage HPTs and do a Beta HCG on 16 days past retrieval.
I hope your next cycle or FET is a positive.

Neffi, yes my BFP resulted in a healthy boy who is now 21 months.
Phoned in my negative result to clinic today and I was told to stick with the medication and do another HPT tom morning. This is like torture it is like instilling you with false hope.
