21 WEEK SCAN

Post by Wibbs1 »

Hi Girls
Just to let you know all went well with my scan today :D ,it felt like I was laying there for hours before anyone said anything, so my mind was running riot.......
But all is well size is correct, right amount of fluid, all bits present and accounted for...still could not see what is was...so will have to wait for the suprise :)
We have waited this long, so what will be will be, I dont really mind if it's blue or pink just happy it's all ok, after our eventful begining.
So I am going to enjoy the rest of my pregancy without worring, have another great picture for our collection, she did say God it's a right Wriggler.....don't I know it.... :D :D
Due to see Midwife 2nd Feb, it's seems to be going quickly now, just to think we could be having our babies sooner than we have been pregant, if you know what I mean....  .

Shell are you still with us, I thought you may have had it this Sunday??
Good luck and let us know asap.... P.s did your hairs grow quicker or longer, then we can test TS theory on a boy or girl.

Take care all of your bumps
Love

hi Wibbs

So glad everything went ok yesterday - its such a huge relief isn't it to get it over! Lets hope we can do as you say and relax and enjoy whats left (not long!).

I'm like you I feel like its whizzed by and is going to be over too quickly! The first two weeks were horrendous but after that it just seems to be flying by....to think we are 21 weeks! Wow.

You must email Val and let her know all is ok. She is still having problems getting on here. She has emailed Marcus and I think he is trying to sort out a new log-on thing (don't ask me! )

Did you want to find out what you were having yesterday? Will you have another scan before the big day? We have another one in a couple of weeks (we have them every four weeks and then every two weeks) so plenty of chances for us to change our mind and find out - I doubt it though.

I went to a family christening on sunday and everybody was saying how 'neat' I looked and they couldn't believe I was having twins and that I must be eating and exercising well........yeh right, Jam Roly Poly and my new craving.........double deckers!!!!

All this talking of food is making me hungry - I'm off to have another bowl of Cheerios!

So glad all was ok!

Hi Wibbs

Wonderful newa that all is well. You did have a rotten start and I am so pleased for you. I can't wait for my naxt scan. My hospital don't scan until 23 weeks so instead of it being next week I have another month to wait. I am really wishing the weeks away but am quite nervous too. :?

I am bored stiff at home as I haven't gone back to work and I am watching far too much crap all day  . At least I know how to decorate to sell my house, what holiday home I require, am getting good at the Countdown conundrums, hunting around for some antiques in my attic, (only I don't think Ikea shelves and bowls count!), and keeping up with the Neighbours and Summer Bay residents. Ho hum.

Enjoy the rest of you very special pregnancy. Take care.

Hi Wibbs,

Glad you're 21 week scan went well - it's so nice to be able to see them again isn't it, and at this scan you get such a good picture of them.

It does go quickly, but I can assure you that the last few weeks go really slowly!!! You just want them out at the end so you can meet him / her.

When are you planning on going on maternity leave? It's such a relief when you give up work (well it was for me) - being a lady of leisure is something I could get used to.

Best of luck,

Alison xx

Hi Wibbs,
Great to hear that your scan went well. How long before your next?
Its awful when there's a long silence at the scan - your mind just goes into overdrive about all the awful things you think they've discovered. We had antenatal app't on Friday and the midwife took ages to find the heart beat with the doppler - I was laid there thinking 'oh no this can't happen again' Fortunately she eventaully found it and I was later sent for a scan which reassuered us further!
Take care,

Di,

I'm glad everything went ok at your scan too - and that they agreed to scan you! Waiting from 13wks to 18wks is ridiculous - especially given your traumatic history.

My dh bought me a doppler machine as a surprise. Actually he bought it for himself, so he can continue is wierd fettish of pretending to be a doctor from ER. So we listen to our two most nights just before bed - I think he does it then so he wakes them up just as I'm trying to get to sleep!

It so reassuring to hear their little heartbeats.....except sometimes dh is convinced he can hear more than two!

Hi Nikola

My DH won't let me have a doppler or sonicaid as he said I will just spend the whole day trying to find the heartbeat and then ringing him up in tears thinking the worst. I so wouldn't!!!!!!!!! I am really desperate to have one. I wish I lived near you and I could pop round and use it and DH would be non the wiser. I said if we got one he could take it to work with him and then he would be in control of it when he got home but even that didn't sway him.

Perhaps you can put a post on saying how wonderful and beneficial they are and that EVERYONE should have one. I spend the whole day worrying anyway so what would be the difference?

A stupid question this is but how do you know you are listening to each of your babies? Does one have a faster beat than the other? I can imagine it must be wonderful listening to them before going to sleep and having a positive thought that they are there and thriving. I am sooooo jealous.

hi Dagny

I have to say I think its great! I thought it was an extravagence (£130) when we could have rented one for £30pm but dh reckons that by the time we'd rented it for four months we could have bought one and then you can always sell it afterwards.....

Its more for him than me because I get to feel them moving around all the time and kicking but dh hasn't felt them kick yet. So he feels more involved by setting up the machine and listening to them at night.

Our two have different heart rates, one is much slower than the other. Last night we had one at 120bpm and the other was 142bpm. You get used to listening for the right thing. Also if they are moving around (which twin 2 invariably is!!) you can hear them moving. Its great.

Print this off and show it to your dh. Tell him, he could buy one and then sell it on ebay and it won't have cost him a thing! You will definitely hear the heartbeat, it comes through really loud and clear! Its our family bonding session at night!

Hi
I also have to agree with Nikola, :P I have had one since 10weeks and it is so reassuring to hear the heartbeat  , sometimes when you have a bad day and think its all over :( ...ie no movement then you can lay on the bed and listen, its so relaxing :) ..my hubby thinks its great make it so much more real to them as they dont get to experiance the movments ect.

For Dagny husband please get her one you will love it too.....and if you are not planning anymore then sell after you will get your moneys worth.

Take care

Thanks Nikola and Wibbs

I think after my badgering and your recommendations he is coming round to the idea. I sat last night with such a lip on me he got fed up and now reading this he said check the internet for them so I might be getting my own way. I went to see my GP today and she got her sonic aid out and we had a listen so I am feeling more relaxed.

I explained also to her that this isn't any old pregnancy and that waiting till 23 weeks for the next scan was killing me and she told me to go to the EPU and tell them she said I had to have one and if there was a problem to ring her at the surgery and she would pull a few strings. How sweet is that? She has been great for years and really listens to me and takes time to talk.

Hope you are both well. Shell has been very quiet today - could this be it??!!!!

Hi Dagny,
Have you been for your scan? Did you have any bother getting one? Your right about the wait between scans- Far too long!
Well for being told I'd not have another scan from the 13 week one til 28 weeks I've had 2 in the last week. We are being seen at The Royal in Edinburgh by a heamotologist cos I'm on heparin. At the app't they wanted to check the blood flow to my uterus and also reassure me re heartbeat after the midwife had a bother locating it. Anyway from that a discussion with the consultant followed in which we were informed that as we'd had ICSI we were entitled to a free detailed scan on the NHS - which we had yesterday! It was brilliant.
So I'm hoping to hear that your scan went well too.

Hello Di

No I didn't go for the scan today as it was too late by the time I got away from the doctors. I have got an appointment on Tuesday with a specialist at the hospital as we were referred to him because it's a fertility pregnancy. I do find though whenever I am at the hospital and mention that it's a ICSI pregnancy they just give me a 'so what' look. I will ask for a scan on Tues when I see the specialist and make him realise that this pregnancy is the most special in Redhill!!!!!!!!

Does your hospital not do a routine 20 week scan? Mine does it at 23 weeks which I think is daft and I am going crazy, so if I had to wait till 28 weeks I would go bezerk!!

I am 19 weeks 2 days and haven't felt the baby move yet. Well I might have done and not realised it. The doctor told me I should start to feel some movement from now on and I can't wait. I want to start buying some stuff for the baby but feel I can't until the scan when we will hopefully find that all is ok and the baby is fine.

Take care of yourself and your special little bubs.

Hi Dagny,
When your at the hospital ask about a detailed scan as I was told its NHS policy to offer you one if you've had ICSI. Its great as you get about half an hour of them checking the baby and all its vital bits!!!
God luck Tues - will be thinking of you!
