encouraging story?

Post by unexplained infertility »

I was not posting on the forum for a while as I did not have any good news to post. I have been on the fertility journey for almost 4 years, 3 unsuccessful fresh IVF. I had 6 embies frozen after my last IVF in January 08, and had an FET on 5/14/08. The transfer did not go well, as out of my 6 embies only 3 survived with only 2-3 cells alive, so they categorized as "non-viable". I decided to do the transfer anyway, since I was in the doc's office already with a full bladder :). 2ww was not bad as I was sure I would end up pregnant, but I DID!!
I had my first beta on day 13 after 3dt and it was 71, so on the low side, but it was a HUGE surprise to me. I had my 2nd beta today and it was 130, it went up so it is good, I guess. I was hoping to get a bigger number and to write a very encouraging story to ladies with poor quality embryos, as it is possible to get pregnant with "non-viable" embryos as you see. I just hope the hcg increases significantly by next Monday when I have my 3rd beta, so my story would be less question-marky...
Keep your fingers crossed for me, PLEASE!

Thanks for the support. I missed this forum a bit, but did not want to post till I got something positive to write about. Thie weekend seems SOO long!!! My test is on Monday and I "feel" pregnant :). I hope that since my "non-viable" embies made it so far, they will stay stuck for the next 8 mos. I am trying not to think about the Monday test. My hubby and I had a nice day today. We went for a lake shore walk and all I could see were pregnant women or women with strollers and babies. Does it happen to you too? I counted a dozen pregnant and way over 20 with strollers within 2 hour period...
Neffi- how are you? Good luck on this cycle! I read your posts on the other thread, maybe if you have less follicles you will have better eggs, because less energy is wasted on a huge number of follicles... Just my personal theory...
SDtrying- yes, my embie (s) is/are fighters. I am myself impressed. I will keep you posted. Good luck on your fertility journey. I have seen your posts on one of the threads I wanted to join but never did :(
Kim - you were the first one EVER to congratulate me on my pregnancy. The RE didnt do it yet :( And everybody else knows that it is a question mark still... Anyway I hope to stay preggo and thanks for the congrats! I want to bo preggo officialy and hear "congrats" more often :)

Will I celebrate in 1.5 days??? I so would like to...

I've kept track of your post and I really hope that the embies are fighters. It's a great sign that you still feel preggo. I know the feeling of time not going fast enough but Mon. will be here before you know it. Enjoy feeling preggo and trust your body telling you so.
I'll be delighted to tell you congrats officially and again because it sounds to me that you are.

About the pregnant women or babies in strollers...I totally agree with you. Sometimes I go out and I see so many pregnant women and babies and toddlers...sometimes it drives me a little crazy. But it's probably a case where we pay a lot more attention to it and so we notice it.
Hang in there and sticky baby dust.

I'll be looking for your update tomorrow.

So far so good. I was expecting at least 520 today (130x4) and I got 936!!! YAY!! I am about to do a preggo dance and I hope it is not to early for that...
I will have another blood test on Wed (another 2 VERY long days) with an ultrasound.
I will be at 5 weeks then. What will they be looking for on 5 weeks? Will they be able to see anything?
Thank you ladies for your kind thoughts!!!

FANTASTIC !!! Unexplained. That's just unbelievable. If I were you , I'd do a preggo dance as well !! Congrats again and more officially.
On the scan, they'll be looking for a sac in your uterus. I don't think they'll see anything else as it's still too early. By the 6th week, they can see more.
Enjoy being preggo every day and more sticky baby dust for you!!

Keep us posted on how you're doing!
Big hug.

asante- my embriologist wanted to destroy my 4 cell 3 day no fragmentation embie as she considered it too slow in developing, but I insisted on freezing it and I feel like this is the one that stuck :) Although after thawing it only had 2 cells left (still it is a half), I really believe it is the one.
I had 2 other 7- and 8-cell embies but only 3 cells in each survived thawing so more than half of cells died. The rest of 7 and 8 cell embied died completely with 1 or none cells left :(
So I am SO HAPPY I insisted on freezing my 4 cell little fighter :)

Valerie- thank you for congrats. Why are the docs waiting so long to tell me that? Will I finally hear it tomorrow after my ultrasound? I am so excited to see a sac, a dot whatever it looks like. After I see it maybe the whole pregancy will become more real. I am very realistic and I generally dont believe in miracles, but I think the fact that i got pregnant during this cycle is one...

I had my first ultrasound today. The sac was in the right place and it was the prettiest black dot EVER :)

My due date is Feb 1st.

Take care everyone and thank you for sticking here with me.

Lots of baby dust to all and don't give up hope easily, as even "non-viable" embies can turn to be quite opposite.

it goes to show you that some of these "imperfect" embies are fighters and they want to grow, they just need to be in mommy's womb! Congratulations on your BFP and continue to spread your good news as it will surely encourage others!
God Bless!
