Spotting, help?

Post by SDtrying »

I know this has come up before, but I don't remember what everyone's experience has been. My Beta numbers have been great, everything has been great. I'm 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and overnight I started spotting. It just a tiny bit of dark old blood. I'm also feeling exhausted and just wanting to sleep all day. Has this happened to anyone? Is this how a miscarriage starts? I've heard you can spot and still be okay, right?

It might be nothing, i have heard of people having an uneventful pregnancy after some early bleeding.
But do not risk doing nothing about it. Call your doctor straight away, they may want to do a blood test to start with, to check your levels haven't dropped and that they are where they should be.
Good luck and let me know how you go!

hi mindy, thx for your response. i called my clinic they said not to worry unless it becomes red. If it becomes red i should call them and go onto bed rest. keep your fingers and toes crossed for my little one!

Hello SD: I've read that quite a few women experience spotting during their pregnancy but everything turns out to be ok. I know it's very scary, we don't want to see any specs of blood no matter what color it is and how much it is!!
Try and stay calm, rest as much as you can ( that's what your body is saying anyway, so listen to it ) and I'm sure everything will be fine.
I've got all my toes and fingers crossed for you...you're in my thoughts and I'm sending all the good vibes to you.

Hugs for you.

Hi Sd- I am 9 weeks4 days and I have had some off and on spotting and even small amounts of bright red blood (once following sex, once following no activity). Yesterday I had my 4th sonogram and each time everything has been perfect! 2 sonograms were routine at my clinic early on and one was after the bleeding episode (the first 2 times I spotted/bled they said just decrease activity, stay off your feet and rest and call us if it gets worse- which it never did). Yesterday I was at my first ob/gyn appt. and again all is well and she said don't really worry about small amounts that don't have cramping. It can be normal for many women- esp. following sex.

Good luck and congratulations on pregnancy!

Hi there

I had brown blood spotting too round about 5 weeks and everything was fine - I was told it was quite normal. The first 12 weeks drain you but once you hit the second trimester you´ll be full of energy (which is the best time to start organising the nusery!!!) so sleep as much as you can now as it will probably be the best sleep you will have in a very very long time!!!!! So relax, don´t stress and enjoy your pregnancy. x

I have some blood mixed with mucus occasionally. The RE said there are so many new blood vessels growing in the uterus it is very easy for one to burst and leak a little blood. They said not to worry unless it is bright red, you cramp, or there are clumps. I absolutely hate when they tell me not to worry...b/c I am thinking really? Don't worry about the 10,000$ baby I am carrying? Seriously?? But I have to get past my own neuroses and calm down.

God Bless!

SD, congrats again! I bled through the whole first trimester -- sometimes bright red. The outcome of that pregnancy was a healthy DD who is napping right now. I know it's IMPOSSIBLE not to worry, but just know the bleeding is very common.

This sounds really crazy, but when my bleeding finally stopped, that bothered me, too. I started to see the bleeding as a sign that things were growing and changing. I had no signs of what was going on in there (until the kicking started). We are destined to worry. That's a given. Try to enjoy yourself sometimes. :)

yellow- thanks so much. Its funny how we worry no matter what, huh?

Chelly- you are hilarious, I really laughed about the $10,000 baby part!

Daisy- I will try to relax and get some sleep. I just can't wait to hear a little heart beat!

Neff- thanks- my mother-in-law said the same thing, she said she had periods up until 5 months pregnant! crazy.

beccatx- thanks for the reassurance.

spotting/cramping

Post by winnie777 »

I am 81/2 weeks after three ICSI treatments. On the day of the 8th week I started spotting and have been on and off since. I have some mild cramping (AF like) which I have had since day one of transfer.

Has anyone else had this?
