Quick question. My RE has said that they have been having higher success rates (upwards of 30%) with IVF when combined with Accupuncture the day of transfer. They offer this at my clinic and of course I am going to do this. She also said that the numbers are not greater if doing AP any time before the actual day. Are there any success stories from women doing AP the day of transfer (during the actual transfer)? Thanks in advance I would really love some inspiration.
Hi Curlygirl,
I did 2 fresh IVF cycles & one FET which seemed to go perfectly but still BFN & then my RE told me I pretty much HAD to go for acupuncture before the next cycle, especially getting it approx 1 hr prior to the ET. So of course I tried it(actually went about 2x week before hand & then one hour before) for the next cycle which was another FET. I felt better & more relaxed during that cycle than I had on previous cycles. I got pregnant that time but only for about 3 days. It was a chemical pregnancy, which of course was a disappointment but at least it was progress. I'd never been pregnant before. I knew we were on to something & felt pretty good about my chances with fresh embryos and the accupunture. The next fresh IVF cycle I had acu 2x week while doing stims & then 1 hr prior to ET. That time I actually got to do a 5 day transfer instead of the 3 days because I had so many embies. It was the easier cycle I ever went through and now I'm over 30 weeks pregnant.
I can't recommend acupuncture enough.
Good Luck!

My clinic (CCRM) offered it just before and just after transfer. The technique they used was based on a German study. Most acupuncture centers are familiar w/the German study b/c it showed a benefit to having acupuncture before and after transfer so you might want to ask about it.
This is wonderful news to read. I failed my first IVF in February. In May, I began AP. I am scheduled to begin my second IVF next week - I'm anxious to begin. I'm continuing with my AP and the schedule will be increased during my 2nd IVF cycle (including around ET). My AP doc specilizes in this area (infertility and IVF) so I'm confident in her system. Everything went so well with my first cycle (responding to meds, eggs retreived, fertilization, etc.) so I was shocked when it failed. I'm hoping the AP I've done so far and the AP I'll be doing during this 2nd cycle will bring me the success I so desire.
