Bella123, my AF came on the third day after I went off of BCP. My AF was totally normal. I don't know about the ibuprofen, why do you think you can't take it??

Bell02,
Thanks :) I guess my nurse made such a point to say at the Lupron shot class that only Tylenol or Extra Strength Tylenol should be taken for headaches....I know Tylenol is ok when you are pregnant and IBprophen isn't so I guess I just thought I couldn't take it ?

Bella123,
That's interesting, my nurse didn't say a word about tylenol or ibuprofen. It's strange how directions vary from place to place but you should always follow your doctor's advice and go with the tylenol and hope it works.

Hi ladies -

Saw your thread and wanted to give you words of encouragement. I to just did my first IVF and had a BFP(big fat positive). The meds are a drag and yes there were so many three shots a day and the vitamins.... Thank goodness for my DH.

Anyways it goes by fast and soon enough you will be at the Dr for your first beta read. Good luck to you all

Hi There!

I am also going through my first time. I am actually nearly finished with the two week wait. I started Estradiol yesterday (and have had a headache all day today. I hope that's a coincidence!) and have a progesterone shot (2ccs) each evening. Monday is my beta, so I guess I'm a little late to the game!

HI there, I am going to be starting IVF in probally 5 weeks. My doc wants to do a month of birth control pills prior to the actual shots since I have had problems with cysts in the past and the birth control helps prevent cysts.

I wish you all good luck in this crazy encounter :)

We hope to do our first IVF by the end of the year. I am 34 and my husband is 33.

I just had laprascopy (sp?) and on Monday have my stitches removed. We will have our first IVF consult in the coming weeks and my doctor said he'd like to do our first IVF by the end of this year.

Hi ladies- wishing you all wonderful success on your journeys to motherhood!

My understanding is:
The reason NOT to take Ibuprofen , aleve or any other of these types of meds is that they are anti-inflammatory. When we are trying to or are BFP, we are ostensibly inflaming our bodies. This is a good inflammation, however, the medicine doesn't know there is a difference. This can prevent the emby from attaching, or may increase risk of m/c if the uterus/placenta is not allowed to swell.

during your 2ww your doc may prescribe a low dose (81mg) baby aspirin - this is thought to aid in implantation, but should only be taken if your doc tells you to!!!
other than that- Tylenol is usually permitted.

i look forward to seeing your posts in future!

Just wanted to stop by and share a couple of things. We had to go straight to IVF/ICSI because my DH (dear husband) had chemo and that lowered his count and motility. We got all the tests done, the one where they put a camera in your uterus to see the lining gave me horrible cramps, so that is normal. They do a mock transfer before the actual one so that they don't touch your uterus and give you cramps. The box of medications is overwhelming but you get used to it fairly soon, have a calendar chart handy with all the meds and dates. I was on Menopur which stung like a bee (ice it first and it gets better). The follistim pen was ok. The progesterone shots do hurt, so have dh rub the spot after and use a heating pad on medium for about 15 min and it should really help. I got hot flashes and headaches and felt very strange during stimms. Then you go check your follicle size and quantity. They don't all mature at the same rate. And don't get discouraged by the numbers!!! This is very important because it only takes one! I did eat pineapple after ET and rested for 3 days. The 2WW (two week wait for results) is grueling and you might or might not have any symptoms, you can spot and still have a BFP (positive). So good luck with it all and I am sending all of you tons of Baby dust!!! Stay positive!

i'm a 1st time ivfer too- thought i'd tell you all my story :)
my DH has impaired sperm motility-we tried some supplements which improved his motility a little, not much though :(
I also have a low antral follicle count , 8 I think and I'm only 29!!
We tried 1 IUI which failed and now have moved on to IVF+ICSI
was on ocp for 11 days (6/7-6/17), baseline U/S showed only 5 developing follicles
started on 6/21 with microdose Lupron 20 units twice a day.
did the gonal-F 450iu and 30 units lo dose hcg shot last nite and had my 1st U/S and E2 today- only 4 follicles developing yet and a 5th one too but it's way too tiny as of now.
will continue with the same protocol tonite and tomrw and have 2nd u/s and e2 on 6/26.
keeping fingers and toes crossed- will update soon!

UPDATE: not so good news :(
went in for another u/s this morning, now only 2 follies are larger than 11mm. there are 2 others but are still smaller. looks like i may have to cancel this cycle, but doc is keeping me on the protocol for 2 more days. they're already using the strongest possible regimen for me, so there really is not much that can be done differently.
I'm so bummed out, I may try another stim cycle another month, but honestly today I feel absolutely hopeless and dejected
