FET - How soon until Positive HPT?

Post by AmyC123 »

Just wanted to take an informal "Poll" . For any of you that did a frozen cycle, how long after your transfer was it until you got a positive HPT. My clinic doesn't test until 15 days after the transfer and I am pretty certain that it didn't work but they won't test me sooner. I am 10 days post transfer and still negative on all the HPT's I have tried. The progesterone is killing me so I want to stop but obviously I won't until bloodwork confirms the results. I just keep trying to get my clinic to move up the blood test to confirm a negative and I tell them the HPT's are all negative but they say that there is no way that those would be positive yet. I don't understand how because in a normal cycle, you can test with these 5 days before you expect your period so approx. 10 days past ovulation. If I am 10 days past transfer then I should be in that ballpark??

Depends on what was transferred. The farther along the embryo, the sooner it can implant.

Embryos can implant after about 6-8 days of development, if the endometrium is right. Then the embryo starts sending hCG into your system, but the embryo is microscopic and it takes awhile for its tiny production of hCG to build up. to levels that will show on an HPT.

In your last sentences, what you say is correct, but keep in mind the difference between what is possible and what is reliable. Yes, it's possible to detect hCG 10 days after ovulation, but it will not be reliably detected on an HPT until at least a few days after that.

Sorry to bump up an old topic, but I'm in the same boat- FET was on 30/5, but my clinic has told me to come for bloods only on 17/6.
I hpt'd this morning( i would be 12 dpt i think) and it was negative- I'm thinking that the hpt would be correct, right?
I am still on progesterone pessaries,so my AF is not here yet, and i am feeling slightly light headed at times-
I dont know what to make of it.. should i keep my hopes up for a BFP?
Anyone?

thanks,
smita

Smita, how many days old were your embryos when frozen? You should count days post transfer.

Not trying to unnecessarily raise your hopes or anything, but if you were told to go for bloods on 17th, maybe it is too early for you as you still have a week to go before test date. Also depends on the sensitivity of the HPT you used. I wouldn't write this cycle off just yet. Best of luck!

Hi Angel,
Thanks for your reply..
Seen your posts on the awaiting treatment thread and i have always thought your posts to be very very supportive..
My embie was frozen on day3- i had 2 frozen, only one made it in the thaw, so as it is, the chances were not looking great..technically then i am 12dp 3 dt.. anyhow, will wait until the 17th now- no point doing another hpt and getting further stressed- plus theres only one sort of hpt avbl where I am, and though its imported, i'm not sure what level of hcg it measures - doesnt say anything to that effect..

Wishing you loads of luck with your cycle,
love,
smita
