New to the blog!

Post by keiko1 »

Hi everyone! I found this blog and was very excited because I too am doing the Duramend study here in MD. I am 30 years old and am a patient at Shady Grove in Annapolis. I guess I should start by giving some background info on me and my husbands journey! We married in Decmeber of 2004 and became prego by January (really quick I know)! that pregnancy ended up being ectopic. Tried agian for a year and a few months and nothing. Needless to say we were very dissapointed. Come to find out one of my tubes was blocked after having an HSG test done. Became a patient of Shady Grove and did 1 IUI and got nothing! Entered a study and did IVF. Became pregnant but lost the baby at 15 weeks due to a Cystic Hygroma and Fetal Hydrops. Determined that it wasn't a gentic thing - at first they suspected Down's or Turner's Syndrome, netiher of which was the case. Thankfully we were tested and it was determined that it was not a chromosmal abnormality just a fluke thing that happens in 1 out of every 1,000 or so pregnancies. Needless to say we were devastated. Did a FET cycle with some of the remaining embies and that did not work. Did another study in October 2007 that was an IVF study and that did not work as well. I am very excited/nervous/apprehensive of doing this all over again! Hopefuly the 3rd IVF cycle is a charm. Very glad to see so many posts about this study. Oh, and to the people living in North Georgia, my husband and I have relatives in Canton and are planning on moving down there soon, just thought that was neat too!!! Good Luck everyone and keep the faith! Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Keiki1 Welcome :) Wow, 3rd time is the charm...!!! That's neat about Canton...it's a nice place to live :) My husbands family used to live there. I wish you the best of luck on this 3rd study cycle! So you're just getting started with testing and such or are you further along?

I'm actually going today to get my pills and the Lupron injections. Today is my Day 4 so I'll start the pills tonight and then the Lupron, I think, on Day 18. Wow, what a small world. They used to live in Cumming but moved to Canton about a year ago. We are actually taking a trip next week down there to visit. i love it down there. i hope the best for you too. When is your first Beta again? I would really love to put 3 embies back but my nurse says I'm too young. Dont' really agree but whatever. i need to get there first I guess. I've learned it's not very wise to constantly look ahead - but take 1 day at a time, but it's hard!!!

keiko1 - Welcome to the board, it's such a relief to get started on the pills and Lupron! Good luck, 3rd time is definitely a charm :)

Well I just got home from the RE and we still have 10 follies and one is even at 20.5, but the others have just a little more to go. RE said one more day, so I go in tomorrow for b/w & u/s and he's pretty confident we'll trigger tomorrow night. My E2 was 1028, so he was really pleased with this and said it may be up to 2000 tomorrow. I'm not sure we'll get 10 eggs, since we have one at 11 and one at 8, but he was pleased overall. Anyhoo, one more night of injections and then trigger tomorrow...I'm so ready, excited and nervous.

Hope everyone had a great Thursday...tomorrow is Friday!! :D

Indie - Isn't it funny how we rush rush rush, just to get to the next step and wait :) My appt isn't until 2:15 tomorrow, but I'm jazzed and ready to go. It's gonna be tough waiting 2 more days, I'm ready for the drug induced sleep and for my little embies to be snuggled back in their home.

Question...do you all find that this board (or other boards you're on) are the only place you can really feel free to talk about what we're going through? None of my friends understand, my family is supportive but are all fertile myrtles, and I think my DH gets tired of our lives revolving around it, and certanly doesn't want to talk about it everyday. I could talk about it all day long, but I really have no one to talk to but you all...which I'm completely grateful for. Thank you all for being here, listening, and sharing your lives. This forum has been a saving grace for me and I'm truly blessed to have taken this journey with you wonderful women.

Angram Oh yea....no one else would even come close to understanding. I tried to talk to one of my close friends about it...but she doesn't understand the process like someone going through it, so you find yourself explaining the process more than discussing how you're feeling. I'm glad for online friends too....especially on subjects like this :)

My husband is indifferent on most days and none of my family even knows....LOL so that rules them out ;)

I'm glad you're moving forward....that drug induced sleep was nice but the sickness it brought on me wasn't so great. I do love a good sleep though....when I was in the ICU once they put phenegran in my IV....I didn't wake up for days LOL

Thank you for welcoming me Angram!!!

I really do love this board as well. I am able to talk to 2 friends because they've gone through similar situations but for the most part, people don't really know what to say or say something totally off base. But even they never lost a baby at 15 weeks after seeing it move around and have a heart beat. But I digress...... I find myself getting angry a lot of the times when people (even my friends) get pregnant - especially if it's their 2nd or 3rd when we dont even have any. It may sound harsh but honestly, that's the way I feel and I know (according to me friend Amy) that I'm entitled to feel the way I do! I tell people all the time, don't judge me for saying things until you walk a day in my shoes!!!! Anyway - that's my rant for the day!!!!

Good luck Angram with your retrieval!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

keiko1 - I've only been pregnant once, and it was not successful, but I've never been in your shoes and carried that long, my heart goes out to you. It is incredibly difficult to go through what we're dealing with and have everyone around you get pregnant with ease. I know each of us has days when we're angry, sad, or bitter that another person has been blessed with a child, but our time will come. I've also had my moments of wanting to just chew someones head off when they tell me to just relax and not be so stressed, then I'll get pregnant. Or just take a vacation, that will work. Damn, wish I would have thought of those things before spending thousands of dollars and dedicating my (and DH's) entire life to getting pregnant

Well said Angram!!! I tell you what, finding that out was the worst day of my life, you go from complete elation to horrible sadness. Yeah, I love the "don't stress" or "take a vacation" advice! If I wasn't spending an "s" load of money of treatment maybe I would have money to spend on a vacation!!! LOL!!!! On a lighter note! I do know it will happen and I know that God only puts people through what they can handle!

Well ladies, I'm back from my u/s and we're triggering tonight! :) We have 10 follies and hopefully all 10 will have mature eggs in them. Haven't received the call with a trigger or ER time, should hear something in the next couple of hours. RE has 7 ER's Sunday morning, so I may have to go in a little later than last time.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday the 13th!

Angram YAY!!! I'm excited for you...gosh that is a lot of ER on Sunday! I'm sure you'll do great....I'll send you prayers and positive vibes :) for a successful ER with 10 great mature eggs ready to be fertilized.

My Friday the 13th was nice....my first very very faint positive on my HPT!!! I was going to wait to tell you all until I saw it getting darker....but, the fact that I got one at 6 day past transfer is amazing anyway...so I'm just going to keep that positive attitude going and know it'll get darker :)

So either I have some early implanters in there, or multiples....YIKES LOL

Keiko I believe God only gives us what we can handle too, but he also blesses us beyond anything we could ever expect....sometimes so much that you wonder why....but it comes down to that he LOVES us :) Keep up that PMA and just know that he will bless you with a baby....it WILL happen!!!

Karen How are you feeling?

OMG Indie, that is fantastic news!!! A line is a line, even if it's faint..congratulations and big hugs to you. When is your beta scheduled?

I triggered tonight at 8:15, so we're scheduled for 8:15 Sunday morning. I know some of you ladies will be heading to church, so please say a quick prayer for my little ones :)

Angram Praying for you :) and a good ER on Sunday....Father's Day!!! You'll always remember when your little ones were conceived :) Oh and Beta is on the 18th, so Wednesday :)

Karen Yes....I showed DH, but told him why I was cautious. This mornings test was a bit darker :) I didn't have to really look for it. I'm going to take a FRER tomorrow morning...praying I get the same results on it :)

Praying this is the real thing :) I'm having hot flashes like I normally do before my AF arrives....which I guess could be another Progesterone side effect. I only have them first thing in the morning...and I've been sweating through them just praying that it's progesterone and not AF getting ready. I've been taking my temp every day all day....just to make sure that this cold doesn't interfere with anything and so far it's been pretty stable...so maybe I'm through with that too :) Some sharper pains/discomforts in my right side where my ovary is...so just really really praying it's all good LOL

I was thinking this morning. If I got a faint positive on Friday, on a test that detects it at 20, does it double daily from that? So today should have been 40? I was trying to add it up and see what my BETA should be if it goes by that....but then thought, that would be too high if it doubles everyday since Friday at 20.
