AUG/SEPT BUDDIES!

Post by cocosmomma »

I know some of us old April/May/June buddies are going in for another round later this summer, so I wanted to start the thread for us.

I'll be starting the Vivelle patches with my September cycle for my 2nd FET. Right now, I am living and breathing by my acupuncturist. She has me on a new diet, acupuncture and herbs. I have reached that 2 week hump with the new diet and am trying so hard to get to the other side. Hopefully then this will be easier. I haven't done anything terrible bad, but I haven't been perfect either. The sugar part seems to be the hardest for me. Everything has sugar in it!! ARGH. And I miss cheese. Oh how I miss cheese. I've figured breakfast and dinner out, but man, lunch is tough!

What's everyone else doing to prepare?

Hello Cocosmomma...I'd love to join the thread and be able to share our journey.
I'm doing acupuncture twice a week as well and I love it, I like my acupuncturist very much and I already feel so much better. I'm not on any specific diet but I eat pretty healthy already. She does asks me every time if I eat well. I was having major pms after my chemical as my DH will attest to and I don't have that anymore since I started. What a relief !!
I'd love to know what you can NOT eat and for what reason. Why can't you eat any sugar? I eat a little bit and nobody has told me it was bad.

I'm waiting for my June and July AF before starting the stimms. June AF should be here any day now. I can't wait to start again and I'm getting myself ready and as healthy as possible.
For me it will be a fresh cycle as I don't have any frosties. They transferred the only two embies I had. I think I'll have a much better cycle on this go around. I will be using Bravelle and Menopur again without any Lupron since I only have one ovary left.

Talk to you soon.

Hey Valerie! Well, she diagnosed me with Kidney Essence deficiency, Kidney Yang deficiency and Spleen deficiency. SO, for the yang deficiency I have to eat only hot foods and beverages. Nothing raw and cold. And no dairy - at all. Kinda sucks for the summer, but with Kidney Yang deficiency you are cold all the time and so you have warm yourself from the inside out. Sugar is bad for the spleen, so no sugar for me of any form. That cuts out all refined carbohydrates, honey, etc etc.

Needless to say, I ain't eatin alot and it's cramping my style for the summer. Hard to be out on the boat, frying in the sun and not drinking a cold bottle water or fruit. But I signed on and I'm going to give it my best shot. Like I said earlier, I haven't been perfect, but I haven't blown it completely. For example, yesterday the peaches in the veggie section of the grocery store literally made my knees weak and my mouth water. So I bought three and ate one as soon as I got home. It was the best peach I've ever had! And I will admit, I've had 1 beer and 1 small glass of wine in the past 2 weeks. I couldn't help myself! My AP will probably whip my tail when I go in on Friday! LOL

I understand that it can't always be easy for you on this new diet. You're doing your best and that's what counts. Don't feel bad for eating a peach, I'm sure it can't hurt you one bit and it was delicious.
My AP told me to have soup everyday if possible, so I've been making soup and have enjoyed it a lot. Also not to drink anything icy which I don't anyways even with our hot and humid days.
Changes in eating habits always take a while to become part of your routine, you're doing great!
Are you sure you can't eat fruits, because it's a different kind of sugar than refined sugar?
I eat fruits everyday and can't imagine not having any.

I can't have anything raw. No raw veggies or fruits. Everything has to be cooked. That will help warm me up from the inside. I'm doing better these last few days in terms of PMA. I think losing weight is helping my PMA, too. I have gained a few pounds from the 6 months of meds, esp the oil I injected into my butt for all those months! NOT HELPFUL! So, my clothes are fitting better and I am feeling better.

I really think it just took me two weeks to get used to the new way of eating. I am sure I will have setbacks here and there over the next few months, but it seems to be getting easier. Especially when I read about all the BFPs on the May/June thread. I want that, too! So I remain committed.

Well Cocosmomma, so far it's just you and me, I'm sure others will start hopping onto our thread very soon.

AF started yesterday and I'm so happy that it's on schedule because I was not sure it would be after my chemical. I did not want to wait any longer than it has to be. AF in July should be on schedule as well because I'm very regular.

I should start bcp on the 10th of July or so...can't wait ! :D

I'm glad you're feeling better and that your PMA is on the upswing.
How did your acupuncturist determine the deficiencies you have, did she run blood tests?
After each acupuncture session, I always feel a light pulling on my right side where my ovary is ( the one that I still have ), I guess it's a sign that it's working. Do you experience that too?

Keep up the good work with your diet, it can only help you feel better even if sometimes it is a little difficult to deal with.

Hello Valerie and cocosmomma!! I guess it's almost time for round 2!! I don't have an actual schedule or anything yet. But if all goes as planned, I will be starting BCP's on day 3 of my July AF, so I am thinking around July 6?? Not sure how regular my AF will be after the last cycle. Like valerie said on the May/June thread, this could be called the July/Aug/Sept thread!! So I am in the process of trying to find an AP that specializes or is at least very familiar with IVF and infertility. Does AP help male infertility as well? My DH is diabetic so our RE said we have no choice but to get ICSI. He said diabetics sperm have a hard time breaking through the wall of the eggs. He has poor morphology as well. And my body didn't respond well to the meds my first cycle. My RE said he expected to get 15+ eggs, and have 12 fertilize and have plenty to choose from. We retrieved 10 eggs, only 6 mature, and only 3 fertilized, and they weren't the best quality. So we will not be doing Lupron this cycle. He says they may have over-suppressed the follies, which is why I didn't get more, and why my E2 was so slow to rise. He said he almost cancelled my last cycle a couple times, but the E2 was rising, so he went ahead with it. Anyway, that's my story. I'm hoping this will be our cycle!! We still aren't telling anyone what we are doing, so I am so glad I have the wonderful ladies on this board to talk to about this!! Hope you ladies have a great Friday the 13th!!

The rainy weather enables me to stay home today as I work outdoors.
SDtrying: you are a sweetheart  and certainly knows how to be so compassionate, thank you from the bottom of my heart, it means a lot to me that you will keep track of us, it warms my heat !!

JHarris: Welcome...it's like we're using trampolines to jump from one thread to the other and go back and forth...maybe a bit too much imagination on my part.
I too did not respond well with the meds and with my one ovary. They were close to canceling but since I had 3 follies and one other little one and that my E2 kept rising, they kept on going and I'm grateful they did not cancel because I now know I can get pregnant and that's good news. We did ICSI as well. I was not on lupron the first time and won't be on lupron for this cycle either. My AF in July should be on the 10th and should start bcp on the 13th, so we're very close to each other.

I hope you get to find a good AP in your area, I think it already makes a big difference for me, my AF started differently from all the others, usually I spot for a day and then start the regular flow but this time, I did not have any spotting. I'm going back tonight for the 4th time.
I'm doing all I can to be successful because I want this baby soooooo much.
THIS will be our cycle, let's gather all our PMA, share it with each other because I know that helps so much.

I have not seen a rainbow in a long time and coming back from the vampires (another blood test) in between two menacing clouds stood this beautiful rainbow, it was just a 1/4 of a rainbow, but it was so pretty !!
Have a great day ...a wonderful Friday the 13th!

valerie: You work outside? What do you do??? My hat is off to you! I don't think I could do it. We haven't seen much rain here lately. We have been in and out of a drought for quite a while. So it's been a while since I've seen a rainbow either!

I know what you mean about the bouncing around! I started off on the April/May thread, but it seemed like I was so far behind everyone when everybody started getting their betas, so then I was back and forth between that one and the May/June thread. I have been looking for the June/July thread! I was thinking I was going to have to start it! I will definitely have to find an AP if they can get my AF situated! I spotted almost the whole time during my last cycle on the BCP's then the Lupron. I don't want that again!

I can feel the PMA adding up already!

And SD, thanks for checking in on this board! You have been using that board trampoline, too!!

JHarris: I take care of private orchid collections here in Miami. It has me concerned for when I get pregnant because it is physical work, lots of bending down, pulling hoses that are heavy and are heavier when you know you're PUPO and pregnant, lots of walking. Sometimes I walk miles every day. I'll have to figure that part out. I've been working extra hard to get a lot of repotting done so I won't have as much work when I start the stims and during the 2ww. I'm frustrated to not be able to work today, maybe I'll squeeze in a little bit this afternoon before AP.
It's not easy to work outdoors in such heat and humidity but I guess I've gotten used to it. And it's fun work ! :D [/b]

valerie: Hmmm, I'm sure there are plenty of women that go through pregnancy while doing similar work. You have been tough through this whole thing, so I am sure you will be tough enough to work and be pregnant at the same time! Plus, your body is used to the work, so you shouldn't have any problems.

I just found an AP office really close to my REs office. They will actually do AP after the transfer at my RE's office! They seem a little expensive though. I have to find out if my insurance will cover it, but it doesn't, it looks like the initial visit will be $140, and each return visit will be $105, and the embryo transfer appt will be $250. Are you all paying that much?

Hi ladies! Welcome JHarris! So glad you are joining us.

So you guys will be starting BCPs in July, which will have you stimming the first of August? Is that right? Very exciting!

Valerie: I agree with JHarris. I bet you'll be fine once your pregnancy is established. I think taking it easy during the 2ww will be good and then resuming your normal schedule. What a cool job though! Being in North Florida, I get the humidity and heat. It's unbearable up here. Drink lots of water and take breaks to cool off.

JHarris: That does sound a little expensive to me, too. But if you can afford it, do it. I think it will make all the difference. If it's just too much, keep looking. I am sure there are other AP's close by. Are you in a NC city or out in the mountains?

I am jumping back and forth to the May/June thread, too. Trying to keep up with everyone over there. Lots of good news! I hope we have the same!!!

OH! Forgot to add this to my previous message. Just got back from the AP and she said I am responding really well! We are moving on to the next step which is to start focusing on my implantation problem. So excited!! She switched my herbs, so we will see what next week brings. Yippy!

Hey Girls!!
I'm glad we're all sticking together :) My AF was 9 days including spotting so I have no idea how long this month will be, but I'm planning to start BCP after my 3rd AF which should be at the beginning of Aug. So stimming Aug/Sept.

My TCM doctor says there's a big chance of cysts if you only wait one cycle and he wants my body to recover so waiting waiting. You think we'd all get used to it :)

Jharris Sounds a bit expensive for where you are, but if the main doctor is doing it & they're good ,the price is right. My initial was $250 and my guy is $130, with his associate being only $75, so I switch up as they work together.

Cocosmomma I went wild for a week, but now I'm back on it. I am doing goat cheese though, but I have some "fire" issues so I guess that's ok for it. I'm glad you're progressing!!! They just took me off the detox herbs, so I'm happy these are a little less disgusting.
