Inflamation at injection site???

Post by MyBoyParker »

Anyone else have this problem with their shots?? I never had them with my Lupron shots in the stomach......but today I noticed that the injection site from last night's progesterone shot in my butt is all inflamed. It itches like CRAZY. There is a big red lump, and almost looks like a spider bite or something. Has anyone else had this problem?? If so, what did you do to make it feel better? Or prevent it???

Thanks!!

My first PIO shot did that. Red, lump, iched and was sore. We've tried different things and here is what works for me and I dont have a sore bum at all, even the next day and it does not even swell at all.

Ice your bum till it burns (like 10 mins) and your butt is bright red. then have DH do your shot then right away take your heat pad to it and rub, rub, rub with the heat pad for at least 15 mins. it makes all the difference in the world!!

My nurse told me not ro ice as it would cause the progestrone to sit on the muscle and she told me not to heat it until at least 30 mins after. Thats when it hurt and I got a welt and couldnt even consider wearing heals the next day. Of course who knows if the progestrone is as effective the way I am doing it, but its such a better relief.

GL!!!

Howdy MBP!
the progesterone shots are PIO (in oil) this is sesame oil, so if you are allergic to it, that may account for the inflammation and itching so early on. After about 7 weeks on the stuff, I had lumps and itching through until wk 12 when i stopped- it just became normal after a while...
- they may be able to substitute suppositories if you are really having a tough time- just remember- it's for a great cause!

best of luck for a BFP!!
