Marybeth - Thank you so very much for your kind advise.. it always help to know from somebody who is already in our shoe and experienced what we are going thru..

When is your due date??

Question: with twin pregnancy when do you start 2nd trimester?? i'm 11w6days today so almost 12 weeks and I wasn't sure ..

Plus, I'm going with my OB appts since they do it every 4 weeks so I assumed I will be 14Weeks on July 3rd when I go back for a checkup...

But now i am not even sure and all these weeks are confusing!!

With twin pregnancy do you have to go to OB appts a lot more than singleton pregnancy??

Sorry to ask so many questions but just trying to get as much as info as possible.

Sameera: As you know with twin pregnancy's due dates are anything but set in stone. I am shooting for August 6th, that would put me at 38 weeks, however, I realize that anything can happen between now and then..just trying to prepare myself for anything!!! I am thankful for every day I am able to keep them safe and sound in my belly!!!

According to the "what to expect when you are expecting" website the tri-mesters are as follows: First trimester 1-13 weeks, second trimester 14-27 and third trimester 28-42. I agree with you...it is confusing!!!

I had been going to my ob once a month, until I hit 28 weeks....now I am on a 2 week cycle.....not sure when he will put me on a 1 week cycle. However, every ob is different. Some gals that have gone through IVF and are carrying singletons have been on weekly cycle from the get go....just depends on your doc and your particular situation. I have been extremely lucky so far. I have not had any major complications (knock on wood!!!). I am still working and feeling pretty good, considering I have this huge belly in front of me! I guess because my body seems to be handling the pregnancy well, my doc has been pretty relaxed about my appointments.

The one big obstacle I have just had to tackle is Gestational diabetes, which is more common in women carrying multiples. I found out about week ago and have been monitoring my blood and carb intake ever since. I was a little freaked out at first, but it is not that bad, considering all we had to go through to get pregnant in the first place!! Just one more obstacle to over come before I can meet my precious cargo!!!

One good thing about a twin pregnancy is that you will get a lot more ultrasounds than those carrying singletons! It is so amazing to watch them as they grow. I already have an album full of u/s pics!!!!

hope this answers your questions! Feel free to ask as many as you would like, I don't know a whole lot, but I do know what I have gone through so far!!!

Marybeth - Thanks so very much! So I guess I will assume I will start my second trimester when I go to see my OB on 3rd...

I will just confirm it with the OB anyways! geeze I'm sure they will get use to me bugging and asking questions :)

I miss hearing heartbeats and would like to hear one like NOW!! but of course I have to wait another week or so before I get to go see them and hear them :(

That's the reason I asked how many times we get to go see the doc. Cause I'm dying over here LOL

Marybeth,
Such a pleasure to hear from you and congratulations!
It is so nice to hear the reassurance of a mom that is ahead in weeks. It is interesting how many different views and opinions you hear. I try to take it all with a grain of salt but it can be scary to listen to all of the negative things!
With my two children everyone told me how terrible and painful labor and delivery was, and I had two very different, very beautiful experiences. I dont think we hear enough of the good and positive as pregnant mommies!
It doesnt sound like you are on bedrest. Are you still feeling pretty good? Just tired? I can imagine it is comical to see two babies moving around in there!
What does your dr tell you to expect as far as when you will deliver?Do you know if you will have to have a c section? I am very excited to hear all about your experiences!
Sameera, I am feeling the same way about having one crib and then moving up to two when it seems relevant. What other items do you feel like you need to buy for your house? I am assuming two bouncy seats but I feel like I am forgetting things!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello all!! I had a question for the mommies here and the mommies pregnant but further on. Did you ever have days in the beginning of the 2nd trimester where you just did not feel pregnant? I have just not been feeling really anything the past few days and I know I should be thankful for not feeling ligaments, etc but I was just curious if that was normal. I am trying NOT to be a worry wart so when I get these thoughts in my head I either dismiss them or come on here to find out if they are real. I can't wait for next week we finally get to find out the sex of the babies. It is sooo exciting.

Stephjim: It is kind of funny how we worry when we expierence certain pains etc and worried because we are not expiereincing certain symptoms. Just keep reminding yourself that each pregnancy and woman is different and try not to let yourself get freaked out by what you do or don't feel.....just be greatful if you are not in any discomfort. I did not feel the ligament pains until I was well in my 4th month....I really did not feel much of anything, other than quickly outgrowing my clothes when I was around 15 weeks.....just try to relax and enjoy this time when your discomforts are at a minimum!! :D

Sara: I am actually feeling very well! It is rather hot here, so that is not very pleasant, but as far as the pregnancy is going, I think I am doing great. Yes, I am still working. No bedrest yet thank goodness. I take plenty of breaks during the day and drink lots and lots of water.

My doctor it is pretty relaxed and has told me all along I have a 50/50 chance of vaginal versus c-section. It is going to depend on the situation when the time arrives. I have mentally tried to prepare myself for both scenarios. I would like to have a vaginal delivery, but ultimately want what is the best for the babies.

Sameera: I know how agonizing it is to wait imbetween appointments to get that reassurance that all is well! I can feel your pain!! I think once I really started to feel the boys moving around, the anxiety between appointments lessened, because I could feel for myself that they were doing ok....regardless...it is always nice to hear it from the doctor that all is well!!! Hang in there!!!

We are planning on co-sleeping our boys in the same crib for the first few months. I have 2 cribs, so when we do decide to split them up everything will be all set. We also bought 2 car seats, a double snap and go stroller, 2 bouncey seats, 2 swings and one playard. Are you guys going to have any showers? We were so blessed by soooo many generous friends and family members....we recieved most of the big items at the showers...which has helped out TREMENDOUSLY!!! We were lucky and I have wonderful health insurance that paid for 90% of our IVF, however, I continue to recieve bills on a monthly basis...the last one for $840! So every little bit helps when it comes to preparing for the wee ones!

Are you girls going to try and breasfeed? That is something else I am trying to keep an open mind about. I have 2 co-workers that have twins and both of them are breastfeeding.....So I know it is possible. I am going to give it a shot and see what happens!

MBG - If I can I do want to try to breastfeed. If I'm not able to produce enough then switching to formula..

I just want to provide and do whatever I can for keeping my babies healthy!!

Lately my nose has been really stuffy every freaking morning - and I have been coughing in the middle of night or sneezing a lot.

I don't have any allergies and neither do i have cold. so this is kinda wierd but it's getting so annoying!!

How's everyone else doing?? I'm 12w1day today wohoo now i cannot wait to be HUGE!! Lol

Sameera, I don't know how big you were before you got pregnant but I had a little belly on my because I gained a bit of weight with doing all the fertility meds. But I look like really pregnant and I am 15.5 weeks so it should not be too much longer before you pop out, but everyone is different.

I just know that most people are surprised how big I am so far. Most people are used to singleton pregnacies.

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for all of the support and well wishes.
I went to the specialist and had the cerclage surgery yesterday. I am happy to have that over~!
Everything went well and I am looking forward to just enjoying the pregnancy now.
I am planning on breast feeding. I loved it with my two other children, but I do recognize with two it will be more challenging...
I am really intersted to find out what we are having this week. So far I have heard boy/boy....then boy/girl and most recently girl/girl from my u/s...talk about confusing!!!
I gained some weight with the fertility drugs too but so far only 12 lbs. (at 15 weeks). I still feel like it is more than that...none of my clothes fit and just this week I am starting to look really preg...
I hope everyone has a good weekend. After seeing all the drs and specialists, they all seem to say...take it easy when you are preg with two! Put your feet up an hour in the morn and an hour in the night....easier said than done but worth it!
XO Sara

I was talking to my good friend, who is a mom of twin boys, and I asked her the things she felt she could not live without. She said the twin nursing pillow (!what is that?!) and bouncy chairs. She had a co sleeper and usually had one in bed with her, one in the co sleeper and then swapped. She said one of the boys seemed to like to be next to her more, while the other was quite happy in the co sleeper. We are going to use a co sleeper and we also will have a crib set up in the nursery for naps. Just some thoughts!

Sara - I didn't even think about co sleeper but it does sound like a good idea to get one!

we spoiled our girl when she was lil by letting her sleep with us.. and i don't want to do the same thing with the twins!!

How you feeling?? I'm 12w4d today! this is so exciting I'm just dying to see the babies so I can see the progress and what not.

I thought the co sleeper sounded like a good idea too. At least for the first four months or so. We spoiled our other two kids by co sleeping for TWO years and in hindisght I think we enabled them to be lousy sleepers. They are four and six now and sleep great...once we figured it all out!
I think I am going to try harder for a schedule with the twins..for all of our sanity!
I am 15 weeks today and hoping my ultrasound will reveal the sex of these babies once and for all on Wed. I am starting to really want to know so I can start to figure out what I am going to buy/how we are going to decorate nursery etc. I feel more pressure this time to get things done early. Esp when I hear other ladies going on bed rest and into labor so early!
Overall, I am feeling great. Other than being tired at night and gaining weight on a daily basis, I feel pretty good~!
When is your next dr appt? And what is yoru exact due date again?
Talk soon!
