JDC_ That is crazy money for egg donation. Why does your RE think you need that? Is your FSH really elevated?

Kate21-Welcome! Wow your experience sounds wonderful, I can't believe they make the travel arrangements for you! Where in the UK are you? I have family in Reading, Cambridge, Luton, and London. I love it there. My family is from Ireland but my uncles live in UK.

Rinnie-GL with your follow up cant wait to hear what RE has to say!

Jharris-Hope the loan works out. Those 0% cards are great deals and then you can switch to another one when that one starts charging.

SueQuwi and Coco- have fun trying!

Valerie- Cant believe you are having that much rain! I am jealous! We did get some today so not too bad.
We got rain last week, the night before my ER....we lost power and didn't have it back in the morning before ER.....We have a water pump, so we lost water as well.....A necessity before a procedure like that!
Glad your tests came back fine. I had all those done about 2 years ago. They were all fine, but nice to have those results.

Well just waiting for AF here. I have cramps today so I am assuming she is on her way!

Good evening ladies. Hope you have all had a great day. Sounds like everyone is moving along getting themselves ready to start again.

hopinginpa: Thanks for the advice. We are thinking that is probably what we are going to do! So when are you getting started again?

JDC: Wow, 20k is crazy! I know how you feel. My insurance doesn't pay for A THING! All of ours is out of pocket, so I know how frustrating it cab be. How many cycles have you gone through so far? Glad to hear you are getting started around the same time as me!

Rinnie: Glad you are having nice weather. At least somebody is! Good luck with your follow up tomorrow.

SueQiwi: Good luck trying naturally!! That would make this a much cheaper process for you!!!

valerie: Yeah, needless to say, I haven't been very impressed AT ALL with this guy. He NEVER called me back today. So I ended up calling a loan officer from another branch. She was so much more helpful. She told me what my options were, and the best way to handle our situation. So I guess if the 1st guy ever calls me back, I get to tell him I got my help elsewhere, and leave out that it is still with the same bank, just a different branch! So now we just have to work out the details on getting a credit card application processed and then hopefully on our way again. I went ahead and set up my next appointment with my RE. He told me to come in a week before my next AF, which I am guessing will be around July 3? Not sure after this cycle how my cycle will behave!

Hope you all have a great night ladies. I will be praying for you.

JDC: I'm sorry you have to hear such news from your RE. Why is your prognosis very poor? And $20k sounds crazy.
We're paying everything out of pocket as well so we know the burden it can be. I feel bad for you that the egg donation is not covered by your insurance. There always seem to be roadblocks but we have to surmount them and move ahead. Your baby is coming !! you'll have to find a solution...it lies somewhere  I know it's sometimes discouraging, but we're here to help you as much as possible.

jharris:Good idea to go to a different branch !! The guy doesn't deserve your business. Finding the right person in this situation ( or any other for that matter) makes all the difference in the world. Looks like you're on your way ! That's great. AF will probably show up on time. Mine did, even after the chemical. I tell you that it did surprise me...in a good way. I'm still spotting a little bit today, so it's lasting a little longer than usual but that's expected.

SueQiwi,Coco: Have lots of fun trying the natural way. Sometimes when you least expect it, that's when it happens...so don't be surprised if it does....wouldn't that be wonderful ! :D

Rinnie: Keep us posted on your follow up...best of luck!
I also eat whole couscous and I love that too, so much better than the regular one. Are there other grains that you eat that are more uncommon that you love? I'm always open to try something new and different.

hoping: where are you? Perhaps in a state that needs the rain too. We had tons of rain...it feels really good and being a big plant person, I feel my plants happy and that makes me really happy !
More of the same for tomorrow.... :D

I went to AP today and after about 40 min, she comes with a burning stick that she waves around the needles for a while to heat things up and I felt a rather sharp pain in my tummy on the right side where my ovary is..I asked her what it was and told me that something was getting unstuck, loosening up. I'm amazed that these tiny needles can have such effect..I know it's working, I feel it.
Has anybody had that too?

Time to go catch some zzzs. Good night and let the baby dust rain on all of us....

Valerie68 and JHarris: I should be grateful that insurance does cover some of my costs. It's just that it doesn't cover what I need! 8 thousand of the cost is a fee for the egg donor. I live in New Jersey, and I've noticed that some clinics in the south seem to be a bit cheaper. My sister lives in Florida, so I was inquiring about clinics down there. I really like my doc and my clinic though

JHarris That's great you went to a different branch. You shouldn't have to settle for mediocre treatment from these people. We deserve the best! Are we starting our cycles around the same time? Fabulous! I thought I would be way ahead of everybody.

hopinginpa My RE just doesn't think I will produce good quality eggs. I was sad to see my new diagnosis on my bill today. It used to be "tubal factor" now it is "ovarian dysfunction".

To everyone else on the board...have a wonderful day and let's all keep our hopes and spirits up!

Valerie--my AP waved the burning stick once too. And I swear it kinda smelled like wacky weed! I remember it was quite soothing at the time and warmed my whole body. Although I didn't feel anything come loose. Maybe I should ask her to try it again!

I would love to conceive naturally during this downtime. What a wonderful daydream--i would just love to shock my Doc! But honestly--I am not feeling very sexy. All the wanding and needles and meds! And then the progesterone made my poor boobs hurt so much I couldn't bare to be touched! I cant shake this feeling of being somebody's science project. The IVF really killed my desire. Do you guys feel this way? I dont feel a bit randy--just baby crazy. I just want to feel lustful again!

It's so funny to hear you all talk about the summer weather. We are in the southern hemisphere--so it is winter down here now! Im a bit envious of your warm sunshine.

Good morning ladies !
JDC: Did you have poor quality eggs during your first cycle? You're doing AP and that will improve the quality of your eggs, lower the FSH and make the whole cycle go more smoothly. Don't let a diagnosis pull you down, let AP lift you up. I KNOW it's working for me...it will work for you.
You have every right to feel frustrated that part of your treatment is not covered, we'd all like to have it all covered...it's bad enough to have to endure all the treatments.
But once pregnant, we will all forget about it all !!!
I once bolded a whole text too !

SueQiwi: She waves a 'Magic Wand', as I call it, everytime and it always feels great, except for this past time.

I wanted to ask you how far you have to travel to go to your clinic? I feel spoiled that I can choose from about 5 different clinics just in Miami!
I don't feel very sexy at all either, I feel bad for DH...but they have to understand that we are going through a whole lot. The meds really gave me major pms for quite a while. I think we all have "BABY" permanently tattooed on our mind, it can become obsessive for obvious reasons.
I also feel like a science project, the probing by the doctors every time you turn around, the injections, etc....NOT SEXY!
Let's not worry, it will come back. Just the stress of it all doesn't make you feel sexy...

jharris: Good luck with your loan. You're in my thoughts.

Let's all have a wonderful day...rain or shine, let's make it beautiful!

Good morning! Hope your mornings have been as nice as mine so far. It feels great out here! We are in the low 60's this morning, and will get to the mid 80's today. No rain, but that is supposed to come this weekend, so I guess that will work!! :)

Hey valerie!! Were you asking in general how far wveryone travels? Or one person in particular? I travel about 45 minutes from my house to my RE's office. It's only about 20 minutes from work though. So it isn't too bad. I never even looked for another RE because this one is right beside my regular OB and shares some of the same doctors, so I knew where I was going. I hate that we don't have the money for AP right now. Maybe when I get this credit card I will be able to put it on that and at least get some AP in before my next cycle. It won't be a couple months like you, but it will be something.

SueQiwi: Sorry you aren't feeling sexy through all this. Luckily, I haven't lost that. I was actually miserable during the 2ww because I couldn't get any!! We like to think that we are still getting practice in, even though it won't work for us! I did feel a bit like a pin cushion with all the needles, and my boobs were sore, so I can completely understand where you are coming from. Get you some wine, chocolate covered strawberries, candles, and some mood music, and maybe it will help!

JDC: It looks like IVF costs are different all over. But if you like your clinic, sometimes that means even more than cheaper prices. It looks like we will be starting around the same time. I should start BCP's on CD3 of my July AF, which I am guessing will come around July 3, starting BCP's around July 6, so I think I will be a little ahead of you, but close enough!

Rinnie, hoping, cocos, kate....Hope you ladies are doing well.

I am now waiting to hear back from the second loan officer to see if we can get the credit card option. Then in 6 months we can always transfer to another 0% card! And I set up the next appt with my RE to discuss the discounts he can get me and to make sure everything is a go for next month!! I feel accomplished!! :o

Hey girls!

JDC: I agree with Val. Give AP some time to work. I bet it will!

Val: I travel 2.5 hours to Jacksonville for my clinic. It's the only clinic in North Florida. Although I think one did open in Tallahassee, but there aren't any statistics for them yet and I refuse to be their guinea pig. I'll stick with being a science project in Jax!

Sue: YES! The drugs totally killed my sex drive. I mean, completely. But God blessed me with the most perfect man on the planet for me who understood completely and is waiting for me. Bless his heart. But it's back, hence trying naturally.

Speaking of...still waiting to ovulate. It's Day 16. I'm starting to wonder if I will. That'll open up a whole new set of concerns since I've always ovulated just fine. Sigh. I can't seem to do anything right!

Hi Everybody

JDC I agree with Valerie & Cocos....have your TCM doctor give you herbs as well as AP. Your eggs aren't bad...the TCM theory is they all start out the same, but it's in the development where they suffer if your hormones aren't doing their job. As we get older the body (hormones) directs nutrients away from the ovaries to more important organs like kidneys & liver which get weaker as we age & which we actually need to survive. Ovaries aren't that important anymore...so the body thinks.
The AP & herbs help to strengthen the other organs so nutrients once again get sent to the ovaries. The eggs no longer starve, so the quality is better.

Take it from me...at 42 my eggs were crap...emryos were E & F quality. This last time after 3 months of TCM, the quality was B+, and C was the lowest grade I had.

I'm so passionate about all this now & really think all women should give this a try all out before trying an egg donor.

Valerie I love this mixed pilaf from the bulk bin at Whole Foods. It's jasmine rice, lentils, & a few kinds of beans...really good.

JHarris This other lady sounds so much better. I think it'll work out for you...I feel it!!

Cocosmomma I'm with you...day 17 & I don't feel any ovulation signs. My Ap says it'll usually be a week late, so we'll see. Actually feels good not to have any tweaking or be conscious of my ovaries. I finally feel sexual & NORMAL!! :D woo hooo So Sue you'll get it back, don't worry!
Wow...2.5 hr drive...that's tough. I have a feeling that more and more clinics will be opening in the future....seems like more people are having fertilty issues....at least out here.

Ok...gotta run to the follow-up.....I'll let you know...

Oh, and the follow-up today went well. DH was laughing after we left because I kept at it  . He was trying to say he couldn't do anything differently, but I pushed & he reluctantly admitted that if my FSH was the same next time he would probably cut the Menopur down & maybe out.
That's huge from his ego :) He also said I could come in everyday for monitoring if I wanted...oh yeah!!
I'm going to make sure I'm not just another number going through there and hopefully it works!!
