Metallic taste in mouth

Post by Prawnster »

Hi, I wonder if someone may be able to answer my query please:

I had my ET on Friday 13th (yeah I know), so am in that dreaded 2ww. I have been trying to ignore my body ie, sore boobs and constipation as i know the progesterone pessaries i am on cause this. However yesterday whilst eating an apple, I tasted metal on some of the bites (so much so, I thought the apple was off) and today eating fried breakfast (healthy, oops) it happened again.

Can the progesterone pessaries cause this?
:?

Hey prawnster. Are you taking any pre-natal vitamins? I know that sometimes the iron in vitamins can have that effect. I haven't heard progesterone doing it, but that stuff does all kinds of crazy things to your body, so it could be!
Me: 32 DH: 30!

Hello- JHarris, no I am only taking folic acid and I don't think progesterone does cause it. I know that it can be a symptom of pregnancy but wondered how early you get it. I am just soooooo scared to think of it being a possible true sign in case I get excited..

I am starting to get really het up about it all now. I thought I was doing well but when I saw some friends this morning and they so much even looked at me - I wanted to cry (very unlike me)

Thank you for your reply and hope you are okay.

I get this on a few occassions. One, antibiotics cause this for me and the other is metobolism changes. If I eat high protein low carb I tend to get that.

I have heard though that it is a sign of pregnancy. In your case I will hope so :D As far as taste changes, I've notices that because I am SO thirsty and drinking so much water, things taste different. Like today I went to this pizza place that I love to get a slice of pizza and a salad, btu I couldnt eat the salad, it tasted funny.

Hi,

It may be too early, to relate the metallic taste to the pregnancy, it may be caused by the iron tablets or multivitamins that you may be taken.

I experienced the same during my first cycle, all the same, keep the faith high, but try as much as possible to stay calm, so as not to disrupt your hormones, etc,. that supports the uterus in a positive way.

Wishing u the best of luck.

Prawnster.......I'm on my First Cycle of IVF and on injecting one of the meds...I think FSH i have an instant Metalic taste in my mouth.
Infact, after injecting today DH gave me a
loving kiss and then almost spat me out when he tasted the metalic....and there was me thinking it was in my head.
I think Metalic taste can be linked to hormonal change..... i have heard you can get that taste when you fall pregnant....stay positive..and have hope.
