I'm in my final 9th week and I have not been able to get a good night sleep either. I toss and turn all night long. It's terrible. I'm also super tired during the day. By 4:00 pm I'm wiped out and can't do anything else but concentrate on sleep.

nicaliw - i only had that happen to me one night. I woke up at 1am and didn't get back to sleep until 5am.

4wd2bmom - I am sorry to hear about your sleepless nights. I have heard that gravol can be taken occassionally to help you sleep.

I have to say though there have been a couple days at work where I had to go into one of my neurologist exam rooms and lay down on a stretcher for half an hour because I thought I would fall asleep at my desk. We don't have very good air circulation at work. I am on the 6th floor we don't get very much fresh air.

sweet- congratulations on reaching 12 weeks!! What a milestone! I have been so spoiled on seeing the baby on the u/s every other week, its going to be weird if its longer!

nikki- saturday is just around the corner, and I am sure you will be fine! You are almost there! Dont women usually show faster with their 2nd baby anyway?

jim- I have no idea how to upload pictures here. I know its possible b/c I've seen one on other threads. I'm not that computer savvy!

As for me, I have been so tired too...I leave for work around 7:40am, return home around 5:30pm and I am dead. DH has been cooking so all I have to do is dishes, but even that is a struggle. I even go to bed by 9:30pm or so but I still wake up tired. And I still have to get up to pee even though I haven't drank anything!

We had our 10wk u/s today...the baby is so big, it almost doubled in size! Hb was good, 2 arms, 2 legs, everything looks great! We even saw the baby swimming....its so trippy! Pardon the excitement, I can't help it since this is my 1st!

God Bless!

Hello everyone. A little nervous as I've never posted to a forum before, but I wanted to share my experience with others going through the same.

I'm coming up to 10 weeks, due 20 Jan hopefully. TTC for 2 years and fortunately was lucky with 1st attempt at ICSI. 17 eggs produced 1 good blasto and 1 poor quality and we decided to just put back 1 as we didn't want twin pregnancy and the rate of twins at our clinic is high. None suitable for freezing, so would have to start from scratch for 2nd attempt. My clinic has a good record in the UK, but only started doing blasto transfers this Jan - it's not as common yet in UK I think.

My clinic makes you wait 16 days before testing - I see everyone else had just 2 weeks. Anyway, it was worth the wait.

Had a scan at 7 weeks and all was fine - a 1cm baby with a strong heart beat which we could see (and made me giggle, so my tummy wobbled and the picture went!)

Now waiting for 12 week scan, exhausted, nauseus and a bit bloated from mild case of OHSS. But otherwise OK.

Looking at other posts I feel lucky that UK government allows one free go at IVF, so I haven't had to pay anything yet. And I get good maternity too. (Hope I'll be able to take advantage...)

Anyway, that's a brief history of me and quite enough for my first post. Hope to share the journey.

welcome to the thread TinNotts! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am so glad our group is growing...sounds like Jan 09 will be a busy month!

Yes, I would consider yourself very fortunate to live in a country that is willing to help you with your dream of having a baby. Unfortunately in the US there is an obssession with making money, so it seems that the line between healthcare and business has gotten blurred.
Being a doctor I feel we have every right to earn a good living in accordance with the amount of education we have worked to get...but jeez...$10grand just for one shot at having a baby?!! Besides, I work in public health, so its not like I have a million dollar practice  But I guess with all the technology and time involved, its a reasonable price.

I have to say though, I am blessed to be in a position to afford that, and also blessed to have gotten pregnant on my 1st try. I praise God every day for this miracle He has given me! We are all so fortunate to have our little miracles growing, and I pray for all the women who are still trying and for those that may never get to have this feeling.

Sorry for the word diarrhea, must be the hormones talking!
Any-who...God Bless!

Thanks for the welcome!

Yes, the healthcare is good, but we are paying £1.35 for a litre of fuel ($9.50/US gallon?) at the moment (and rising), and cost of living is generally meant to be cheaper in US, so I guess what we get on the one hand, we lose with another.

But this is an IVF forum, so enough of that!

Yes this whole thing is very much a miracle and I feel very lucky that it worked first time. :D

I'm off to find some food, desperation has hit.

Welcome to the thread TinNotts.

Congradulations on your pregnancy. I am from Canada and part of my IVF was covered by our free healtcare plan. It is only covered for patients with bilateral fallopian tube blockage which I have due to endometriosis. I only paid $1500 cdn for my fresh cycle and $1200 for my frozen. My meds came to aproximately $3500 which was covered by the plan I have with work. I only have 3 fresh cycles that I can have covered after that I pay full price so it isn''t too bad.

In Canada we are paying anywhere from $1.30 - $1.35 a litre for gas at the moment and rising. I hear by the end of the summer it is supposed to be approximately $1.50 a litre.

Michele - I know what you mean about being spoiled. i have seen the
baby 4 times already. I am going to see the baby again on monday.

Sameera - I have to say I haven't had that feeling yet. I hope I don't. It does sound too pleasant. I hope it gets better for you soon.

so I started cutting back my PIO to .5cc on the 17th, they said my P4 and E2 levels are holding, so yaayyy, the 28th I can stop!! I don't have cramps or spotting either so I am so glad.

Oh, me and DH 'did it' last night, after 10 long weeks. I have to admit I was really uncomfortable though, I kept worrying about hurting the baby even though I know it wont. I know he enjoyed it way more than me, but atleast he can be off my back for a while!

sameera- I know what you are talking about...the nasal congestion? I read somewhere that it is a common pregnancy side effect. Another one, haha! I have been getting really bad headaches lately, possible from the 100degree weather! I come home and put a cold compress and it seems to help.

Have a good day!
God Bless-

I have the increased mucus too, and had it the last time. Both through the nose, and vaginally ~ lots of fun there. I've eased off the progesterone, so I'm drug free, other than prenatal vits, and iron pills.

I've felt fluttering a few times, but didn't feel real movement last pregnancy until after twenty one wks, so hopefully by then this beeny baby is on the move.

I have the form for the 13 week u/s but for some reason am stalling on booking it. I may just wait for the big u/s instead. I'm alot more patient with things this time around.

Welcome tinnoots and congratulations on your pregnancy!!!!!!

I haven't had the stuffy nose yet, but my sister said her nose is runny all the time (shes 11 weeks).

Well, I made it to 12 weeks, yipeeeeeeeee! I think I'll back off on the ultrasounds now, I have done about 10 so far. Its just so hard to resist. I have heard that the ultrasound waves are so loud for the baby it sounds like a helicopter is right above your head. Yikes. That makes sense cause every time i do them the baby starts flipping around.....probably trying to escape the noise....LOL.

Hello again and thanks for the welcomes from everyone.

Sameera, my 12 week scan is 11th June - I can't wait - want to make sure it's still there! Then I'll start telling people! Keeping it quiet is difficult, especially as most of my clothes don't fit any more.

I don't have the stuffy nose yet, but I do have a couple of sores on my tongue, maybe like ulcers - did anyone else have that?

Sweet monkey, your healthcare sounds quite good. It varies so much across the UK - some areas say you can have one free trial, some say two, some say you have to be over a certain age, most say you have to be under a certain age - so you can be really unlucky in that you could be refused treatment in one area, but 2 miles away you would be accepted. I seem to have the right criteria fortunately. How much is the Canadian dollar?

You all seem to be seeing your baby a lot? I am only offered a scan at 6 weeks, 12 weeks and the next will be 20, unless there are problems.

Also, I don't understand what meds you are all having - I am not being checked for any levels of anything, so I don't know what P4 and E2 are! Is it progesterone? I was given progesterone pessaries/suppositories (choose which end you insert them!) which seems better than injections to me. I finish them tomorrow, so I hope nothing changes.

chelly - my DH is very moody that we're not 'doing it' at the moment - somehow nausea and exhaustion aren't the best aphrodisiacs for me.

Have a good day

TinNotts- It does seem like we get a lot of scans right? I think I have had one 6, 8, 10, then 12 weeks. I was taking vivelle estrogen patches but they took those out a while back, but I am still supplementing progesterone. When I cut back to .5cc they did b/w to check that my P4 levels were holding, same thing when I quit to PIO. I guess they want to make sure my E2/P4 levels are holding before they release me to my OB. They said since I had been on PIO for so long, they did want to cut me off cold turkey b/c my body may not respond well, so at my clinic they taper you off. I can't wait!
nikki- your sister is PG too? that is so cool that yall are so close! My only other friend PG right now is due in Nov, I'm due in Jan. She has a little boy already and is expecting a girl. That is good you have another person to share with!

denise- don't they say you can feel the baby moving earlier on your 2nd PG? With this being my 1st I would probably not even know it, and think its gas! Was your 1st an IVF PG too? I'm just curious if women are able to conceive easier the 2nd time naturally after having been pregnant. I really can't imagine going through this again for #2!

I think my m/s is slowly starting to get better, I still feel a bit queasy in the AM but not as bad. I still don't have much of an appetite; I can't stand meat at all and I have almost become a vegetarian! I would figure my body would want protein, but the thought and sight of meat repulses me! I started nibbling on more snacks throughout the day like apples, almonds, string cheese, yogure etc. and that seems to help.

Have a good day!
God Bless!

Chelly - Wow - I wish I had that many scans. I've had nothing since 6wks and now nothing till 12 (which I've had to change today to 13, as DH has had to accept work away). I'm dying to see the progress from, frankly what was just a small blob. I don't even know if it's going well. I never got any oestrogen supplements. I have 400mg progesterone twice a day and I've been stringing the last few out just once a day, to let my body realise I'm stopping. I can't stand meat either! Managed to eat a bit of fish the other day, but otherwise all my protein is from milk or baked beans!

To those suffering from stuffy nose, my pregnancy book says that it is likely to get worse before it gets better :( and it suggests the following :
- increase fluid intake
- humidify bedroom
- prop head up when sleeping
- breathe steam from bowl of hot water
- eat vitamin c-rich foods, to strengthen capillaries.
I don't know if any of those will work. When I had a cold at the start of pregnancy, I used those little strips that people put on their noses to stop them snoring and that helped me breathe at night.
