I am brand new to the board. My retrieval is scheduled for Monday, June 23. I am excited and nervous, because I have read a lot on this board and other boards from other ladies that have been through the retrieval. Some have felt okay, while others have had a lot of pain. So, help me feel a little confortable about this.
Our situation is that my husband is a T-9 Parapalegic and he has three children from before his accident. He also had a vasectomy before he was paralyzed. So, he had a testicular biopsy ( stil has not completely reovered yet, takes longer to heal for him) on June 9. Our doctor said that ICSI and IVF is our only hope. I have been on Lupron shots and repronex. This morning was my last Lupron shot and Tommorrow is my last repronex shot. Yeah!
Last Tuesday, was my ultrasound and they said they saw 6 eggs on one side and 4 on th eother side. Today, they will doing another ultrasound and start preparing me for Monday. So, yeah, I am a nervous. I think I am really stressing my husband out and I am trying not to..just really need someone to talk to that can understand what is happening.
My husband doesn't want to tell our parents till after we find out and we are supposed to keep this big secret, but it is so hard. I'm stressed at work (in outside sales-very stressful) and scared that it won't work. I am trying to keep positive. I really am! Help me girls!!!!!
Oh and what is a beta? I don't have a clue about all the lingo yet?
Retrieval scheduled for June 23
Transfer scheduled -June27
Repronex and Lupron shots
Welcome to the board! You picked a good one, so many times I've needed my "girls" help too!!
I've had 2 retrievals and my last one was a couple weeks ago. and the first time around I was nervous, I didn't know what to expect. I had a great experience with mine, my drs office is filled with great people. Afterwards I didn't have too much pain at all and I had 23 eggs taken the first time and 32 the second. It mainly hurts to sit down and stand back up again, make sure you go slow! And it's really not a bad pain. Walking is harder the first day or two, again not bad you are just forced to do it slower! They said I could take Tylenol, and I only took one dose that evening and that's it.
I'm hoping the best for you and your DH!!
p.s. Beta is your first and second pregnancy tests they take after 2 week wait. (Beta #1, and Beta #2)

Thank you for posting back. That makes me feel a lot better. Were you completely out for the retrieval? Wow, that seems like a lot of eggs. On my last ultrasound, they said they saw only 10 eggs, is that normal? Could there be more that will be retrieved?
cyndis-
I only had 8 follies, one ended up being a cyst and two were too small to even bother extracting so I ended up with 5 eggs and ALL five fertilized.
It seems we've had a burst of women with small amounts of eggs and big results.
My Er went great. I felt great. In the evening I had alot of pressure, mostly on my bladder that ended up hurting so I finally took 1 pain med that they gave me, but that is all.
Cyndis - I just had my egg retrieval Monday, too! How did yours go? Hope it went well...are you planning a 3dt (tomorrow!) or 5-day? I have my transfer on Saturday and couldn't be more excited. This is my first IVF cycle. Staying positive and minimizing stress are key...so try to take it easy at work...are you doing bedrest after transfer? I actually took this whole week off and will be on bedrest for the day of transfer and 3 days after that. Quite frankly, the time off has been a blessing!
Good luck with your transfer...hope you're celebrating a BFN very soon!
