Hi,
My wife and I recently travelled abroard for our 1st attempt at IVF.
We travelled because we did not want to go through the government program here and felt more comfortable with that.
This proved to be expensive when we take into consideration the travel and accommodation expenses for 10 days.
I'm not worried about the cost and want the best so next time we will travel to either Europe of the US. But it has been mentioned that we should just go with the local operation here. My question is this... Is there such a thing as good and bad IVF or is it just that it is either sucessful or not successful?
There are so many factors that play a part of IVF. I am a little confused about your question. I know that women can have a text book IVF (lots of eggs retrieved, all mature, 70% fertilize, perfect 8 cell 3d or perfect 4AA 5 d), but still get a BFN, but then there are women that have a horrible time (3 eggs retieved, 40% fertilized 6 cell) and get +.
I think the clinics rate them in both catagories as no one cycle is the same.
My advice to you is if you decide you go IVF again would spend alot of time researching clinics. There are some clinics that dont have the up to date equipment in smaller towns that are still getting 40% success rate, as larger clinics in larger towns are now cranking out 60% success rates. Plus the clinics that do alot of studies tend to have larger success rates.
Good luck!! I know I may not have answered your question, but I hope I at least helped a bit.
Some areas of Europe like, Sweden, Germany and the UK have excellent take home baby rates, also Australia. The USA has a high rate also, but this is because of the large amounts of high order multiples (triplets or more), which is alot more dangerous.
Hello KiwiBrit....I Know you first posted a while ago but thought i would say hello being that i too live in Dubai. DH and i have been dealing with one of the Top fertility Doctors in the UK whom visits Dubai every 2months. We have also been over to visit his clinic in Harley Street. We too had the option of doing IVF in London or Dubai. Our decision to start IVF here in Dubai was because we believe it's important to feel as relaxed as possible and being in your own home is more relaxing than staying with family or in a hotel. I know the fertility clinic's here are a little rough round the edges with not much beside manner..but....i have also witnessed people i know with succes stories. I guess there is no good or bad IVF...everyone's story and path to getting to IVF is different and i believe you have to do what you think is right for yourselves and you have to feel comfortable in your surroundings and confident with the Doctor treating you. One things that is needed in this place is a support group. x
Although I did my IVF's in France, because 4 cycles are covered by the national health insurance!
I did some research on clinics in Dubai and the one in Sharjah seems to have good results!
anyway, best of luck!
