Bella - all I can say is keep on top of your symptoms!!! and call your RE even if you question it. I wish you the best of luck to not get OHSS.
Kate - Thanks you so much for the kind words. Yes I hate mild, there was nothing mild about it.
Rosario - I am so sorry to hear your cycle was cancelled! I do have this to say to you, I never thought I would hear myself say it but I almost wish they would have cancelled my cycle so I could get better first.
So here is the story (PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU WORRY ABOUT OHSS) - I don't want to scare anyone so please do not be offended by my bold statement. I have been feeling progressively worse. As I said before I was transfered back on Saturday and all down hill since. Last night I was so miserable I could not find a single comfortable position. I was upside down on the floor with my legs on the couch, etc. At about 4am I kept feeling like everything inside me was being squished and I could hardly take a deep breath. I decided to wait it out until my RE's office opened rather than go to the ER and deal with them. I went in and the did an u/s and she was like wow you are really full of fluid, no kidding. She said she did not expect me to develop OHSS with an E2 of 3,499. None the less she immediately sent me to the hospital to have a paracentesis done. Where they drain off the fluid, it was not bad great relief. Any way they drained 3.5L off!!!!!!!!! I felt better but drained, literally. Then she told me because of the OHSS I am at increased risk for blood clots so I had a Dr. appt with a hematologist. I have been started on heparin twice a day for the entire pregnancy, should it happen. But anyway I hope this wasn't too graphic, I am sorry if it is, I am just miserable.
Goodness, I hope you get feeling better now that you have been drained.
Last year we went through a failed adoption and the birth mother had a blood clot and did the shots through her whole pregnancy. She said the the only bad part is the shots but she got used to those.
I really hope you get feeling better soon and that you can get some rest tonight. Take Care. Tara
Thank you all for your kind words. Its great to know i can get all the support i need here. jcurlygirl you been thru a lot. Hope all remains well. Keep your head up and just remember things happen for a reason. (Sorry its lame i said that... i hate that saying)
Hi everyone,
i'm kinda new to the site, and don't know exactly where i fit in...but i'm on OCPs right now, and have my class on july 1st with a mock embryo transfer on 6/27. Have unexplained type, with possible low motility in DH (8%)...? endometriosis...occas i have abd pain. Had 3 IUI this year which failed, and now this will be our 1st IVF. We don't have insurance that treats infertility, so we pay out of pocket...its either pay per cycle --about $8000 for 1st ( i get a discount) - and then for 3 cycles prob around 20K or shared risk which is $22K...i'm kinda confused on which to opt for. On one hand, my doc thinks i have a 90% chance in the 1st 3 cycles and thinks we should pay per cycle, but shared risk seems more stress-free. From what i have been reading, it seems like the average # of cycles to conceive is what ? 3-4....any suggestions from others like me? thanks all..

Hello everyone.....I started IVF yesterday 23June....and was wondering if i can join your thread as i'm new to chat forums and IVF...feeling a little lost.
I'm English and DH is Canadian and we are living in Middle East due to work. The fertility clinic's over here don't give you any literature or information..(they're a little rough round the edges)..so everything i'm learning i'm reading on the internet and this forum from you guys. I'm 38yrs and have reserved egg supply....have been seeing a Professor who flys in every other month, he dosen't think IVF is going to work and that we should just go for egg donation..but..i really think we owe it ourselves to try IVF a few times. Egg Donation would be another episode as it's banned where we are living. So Injections started yesterday..Hubby was out the country..just hope i can remember where everything goes this morning.
I am waiting the delivery of $5,000 in medication to start my 2nd round of IVF/ICSI since 2004. I have 1 DS who is 3 and I am scared and excited. We were really lucky that we got it on our first round. My DH had to have TESE back in 2003 and we have limited vials frozen.
Bear and mgpasco - Welcome! You will love being a part of this board...there are some amazing women and LOTS of IVF knowledge on here! mgpasco - We love hearing success stories! So glad that your first IVF worked and now you're going for #2. When do you expect to start your meds? Bear - Kudos to you for giving IVF a try with your own eggs first...there are plenty of women on here that get BFPs at 38 and older...good luck to you!

babyloves - It is a hard decision about getting the shared risk or not. I would definitely read the fine print for shared risk. We were going to get it until we saw they can drop you for any reason. We also thought that because our problem was only tubal we wouldn't have any troubles. Boy were we wrong. I didn't stimulate well the first round. I got canceled before ER and if we had gone with shared risk they would have dropped us from coverage with a 90% refund. So make sure you read everything for your shared risk before.
Welcome Bear and mgpasco!! These boards are great to get support through this crazy roller coaster of IVF. Good luck and just ask if you have questions. Someone hear should have the answers.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have a few questions! here they go:
1. Has anyone's RE told them to double up on Folic Acid? I am and have been taking a PNV and it has 800 mg but my RE Nurse told me to take another 800mg. I guess it couldn't hurt but not sure if anyone else is told this.
2. Is there anything else I should be doing or taking that you guys know of to help things along? You know, like standing on my head or getting pedicures or anything like that. lol
mgpasco - Folic acid is very good to take and is a water-soluble vitamin, so your body will flush out the excess if you consume too much. I would take the extra folic acid at a different time than the prenatal so you absorb it better.
You should try to pamper yourself as much as possible. Stress is not good but hard to avoid during this process. So pedicure, massages, whatever relaxes you Avoid caffeine. Many of the girls get acupuncture done also for stress and to help with IVF.
Good luck!!

I wish I would have paid attention to what I did the first time - how many days were you guys on Gonal F before the retrieval? My DM & DD are coming for a visit because DH doesn't have vacation or personal time at new job to help out.
Hi all,
I am going crazy during my 2ww!! I actually get to go in on day 12 so Tuesday, July 1 can’t get here fast enough. I’m freaking out because I don’t really feel like I have any symptoms…but since this is my first IVF and I’ve never been pregnant before I have nothing to compare it to. I’m trying to resist POAS because I know that whatever the results, they can be inaccurate.
It looks like things are moving along on this board. Turtle, those pics of your embies were awesome! I wish my clinic did something like that.
Congratulations on your transfer wishfull. When do you test?
Rs, I’m so sorry for you…I know things will work out eventually, even when things like this happen it tells your doc something and helps them determine what to do for you in the future.
Sonu, congratulations on your transfer.
AdsGirl, hooray on your retrieval!! 12 is a great number!! Good luck with ET on Saturday.
Kate65, you just need one! Good luck with your transfer.
Jcurlygirl, I have a friend who went through OHSS and said she wouldn’t wish it on her worst enemy. Just hang in there!! Did they tell you that you were pregnant for sure??
Bella, I hope your ER went well today!
Rosario, I’m so sorry for you, but like I said to RS, they learned something from this cycle that they can apply to the next one.
Welcome babyloves.
Welcome bear, this is a great site. Ask any question you like on this board and someone is bound to have an answer.
Welcome mgpasco.
And that’s it, I think I’ve gotten everyone in from the last few pages.
Welcome Bear and mgpasco. Hope you find plenty of useful info on this board.
Hope everyone is doing good. I have to read back on post to catch up.
Rosario - Sorry your cycle was canceled. I am still in the same boat as you. I have to wait another week to see if my cycle will be canceled. Did you have any follicles growing that would be causing your high e2 level?
I went to RE yesterday for B/W and U/S, I have two follies that are growing which shouldn't be because I should be suppressed on the Lupron. I haven't taken any stims yet. My E2 level was 480 so I have to have another week of Lupron. They didn't up my dose which I was surprised but I guess since last cycle I was over suppressed they are being cautious. The RE is hoping that my follicles will drop off and then my E2 level will go down. I have to go in next week for another B/W and U/S to see if anything has changed. I have been on Lupron since June 5th so I am really getting tired of it. Oh well, at least it isn't as expensive as some of the other drugs. So here I am still waiting, and waiting and waiting.
Good luck to everyone with ER, ET and Beta's. We should be getting some Beta's pretty soon.

DE Cycle 2/2011 -BFP Jacob born 11/11/11
Hi, all. ET yesterday went well. On Day 3, we had one 7 cell and three 5 cells. By Day 4 (when we did the transfer), one was mostly turned to a blastocyst and 2 were partly transformed. The doctor said the biggest was probably over 30 cells and the others in the 20-cell range. I don't know anything about it, but that sounded good to me. Anyone else have info?
We transferred all 4, just to be safe, and I'm on day 2 of bed rest.
Welcome, Bear. I think it's pretty gutsy doing this in Dubai! How's the medical care there? Things are such an interesting mix of state-of-the-art and primitive there.
mgpasco, I don't know about your case, but I know they recommend baby aspirin and/or double folic acid for situations where there's an auto-immune concern.
AdsGirl, good luck tomorrow. What are you hearing?
Bella, how do you feel today?
We need to update the list. I can't remember what the status and dates are for everyone. Good luck to all on the 2ww, though.
Kate
6 IUIs
3 pregnancies, all miscarriages
1st IVF - 3/08 canceled
2nd IVF - 6/08 BFN
3rd IVF - BFP, Betas (in DPO) 18:3520; 22:28,776; 25:59,576 -- pregnant with twins!
Thing are pretty quiet today. Hope everyone is doing ok.
Finally off bedrest yesterday after 5 days. I do my preg test on the 1st. Sometimes I feel ok, don't think about it much just try to get through the day but then there are other times when that is all I can think of. It is crazy what your mind will do to you. You start to panic if you sat down funny, or stretched to one side too much. This morning I was driving to a meeting and hit a giant pothole and paniced, wondering if I could have knock things lose.
Then there is the middle of the night pee! I can't seem to go back to sleep after that one because I am thinking what if it doesn't work! We didn't get any frosties so it is scary to think I can do it again but then what. I know I shouldn't borrow trouble but you all know how it is.
I have a hard time keeping track of where everyone is in the process so if you are new Welcome!
If you are getting ready for ER or ET good luck and if you are on bedrest it will end soon.
Best wishes to everyone! Thanks for letting me vent.
