pregnant mummy, a question please about fetal age?

Post by souris »

Hello,

I have a question concerning the foetus age that I was given on my scan and the age according to the transfer date.

Every IVF website tells me that I am 7weeks 2 days as I had my retrieval on 19/05 and transfer on 21/05

but on the scan today, I was told the baby is measuring 6w5 days... It is only 3 days late but I am wondering if there are any mummies with the same.

I know that my embies were not very advanced ( 5 cells, 2 cells and 2 cells) , maybe one of the 2 cells took and that's why he is smaller??

Anyway, nice heartbeat today so that was the most important!

thanks girls for any input!

Souris,

According to my transfer date I should be 8.5 weeks but am 7.5 weeks. My embie is 6 days late. I transfered 3 "non-viable" embies- 3-,3- and 2-cell

I had a meeting with me RE and asked him if I should be concerned about it being 6 days late, and he said exactly what you wrote. It just took longer for my little fighter to develop at first and so it implanted late. AS long as there is a heartbeat, we should not be concerned. And today our little one had a HB of 150bpm :)

Good luck to you. At this point you should not worry but relax.

Hello...I can relate!!!
I went for another sono yearteday and still no heartbeat.
ER 5/26
ET 5/31
1st sono 5/18 saw a small black void which my doc said was going to be the gest sac
2nd sono 6/25 - should be 6w2d saw gest sac and yolk sac and only measured 5w2d
3rd sono 6/30 - should be 7w saw gest sac, yolk sac and fetal pole--no HB an only measured 5w6d
I am growing but a week behind!

What am I going to do??? Has anyone else measured small and saw the heartbeat late??? I am beginning to panic. I go for my next u/s next Monday 7/7...it seems so far away!!!

Hi Ladies, i found if you go by the pregnancy calculators like the one on this site, it always seems to give you a date a couple of days different to your clinic. Most clinics seem to allow for +/- week. i am different to you all as i have measured bigger all the way through my pregnancy, my local hospital sono still has my due date a full week ahead of what i am. But due to IVF my consultant has stuck to my original date.

Souris, did i cycle with you once a couple of years back? were you getting treatment in France? apologies if i am wrong.

Don't stress, all will be fine and good luck to you all, i wish you all healthy pregnancies.

Hi ladies! Try not to worry! You will find often times that the date we think the baby should be at is not where the baby is at for a variety of reasons. Some do implant early, some implant late, some grow faster or slower early on for different reasons. That is why we are better off not even thinking about it and going by what the doc says. Trust me - you will find this is even true later in pregnancy! My baby was measuring at 26 weeks with a head that was 29 1/2 weeks and it freaked me out a little. The doctor laughed and said not o worry about it that everything was normal. Sure enough - yesterday's sono showed everything was now properly proportioned and he is perfect.

Try not to stress as you will see as your pregnancy develops that even if you are let's say 12 weeks and 4 days, your baby may measure 13 weeks and 2 days or 11 weeks and 3 days...you get the picture. It took me some getting used to as I think with IVF moms - we freak out on everything!

Good luck to all of you!

Unexplained, thanks for your reply! I really try to relax and it works for about.... 10 min!!

This baby is such a miracle that I still cannot believe it!!congrats for your pregnancy!

samttison! what a nightmare! My clinic doesnt do early scan (1st one at past 7weeks) to make sure that the heartbeat will be seen on the 1st ultrasound so the parents dont get scared if it is too early!
Your baby is groing, so it sounds good to me! it does feel like a long time until the 7th (only a week to go now) but by then, you will be pretty sure to see the heartbeat!
wishing all the patience in the world!

Hey Beachbaby!
Yeah it seems like we cycled together! Although I dont remember you... sorry  but I do my cycles in France indeed.

I had another cycle after my m/c at 12 weeks, but i wasnt ready emotionnaly . We had only 1 embie to transfer and it did not work.

Then we gave up IVf for good (so we thought) and started the adoption process. We passed the panel after 9 long months and started our documents... but all the countries closed their doors to us (especially after the Arch scandal in france) and also because I am too young and Dh too old!!
This was horrible. I started to see a counsellor to deal with my m/c grieving. She helped me a lot.

We had 4 vials of dh's sperm left and I decided I needed to do a last cycle with all the sperm left so I could close the IVF door for good. My doctor told me that we had to be realistic and not expect any fertilisation (because of bad sperm).
BUT we had 7embies!! not great grades but one made it!!

so this is my story!

i had a new scan today. the baby measures nearly 1.6cm and 150 for the heartbeat!! I am still very confused about the date because she told me I was 6w2d, or i think I should be 8w1d!! and i read everywhere that my baby size is a 8 weeks foetus... so I dont know

all i know is that he is growing well!!
next can in 15 days!

good luck to all
