Kholtan - I'm not sure about nursery yet - I do have some ideas but I dunno i'm really undecissive...

My DD's room is pink and purple with flowers/butterflies and picket fence painted.

Our room is pastel green color so now I am thinking maybe I should do pastel yellow or creme for the twins room but I cannot decide :(

Thanks for the well wishes! I feel better and on the bright side, was able to address the constipation issue I had (sorry TMI )!

sameera - how exciting you will find out in a couple of weeks. I remember for us it was during the 16 week ultrasound when we found ours out. The tech told us baby A is a boy and we were just holding our breath and felt like the drum was rolling while we waited for her to inspect baby B. When she said it was a girl, it was the happiest moment of our lives! I always dreamed of shopping at the cuter section of the clothing shop and now I can! It's fun to day dream and plan your nursery. You will probably get a better idea once you'll find out the sex, I am sure! Have fun!

kimberley and Kim, now that I don't have AC, I really really want one. The city we live in is an expensive city and our house was pretty pricy and we could only afford it because we moved from Calif (thank goodness we sold our Calif house before the bubble bursted). For the price we paid, we should have a central AC! But I guess I have to blame it on global warming, rather!

We bought our carpet shampooer (sp?) from Costco and we use it once in a while. Our cats make hairballs and not to mention the mess three kiddos make, so I am glad we got it. But most of our rooms are hardwood/laminate. Kimberley, I am not a neat freak and I've always wanted to be one. :D

Well, while the babies are napping, I should take shower.

Hope your day is going well!

Kimi

ouch! Broken toes! So sorry to hear that...can't believe how many wonderful parties you host! Good for you...it is inspiring..
I looked at your blog and your babies are GORGEOUS, as are you! wow. YOu look terrific, can't believe you gave birth 10 months ago...and your hubby? DOes he pump iron ??? What a handsome couple...

so sorry to be offboard...babies are 3 months tomorrow. Can't believe it. So big...SO ADORABLE and fun.
I kicked out my entourage of workers at 6 weeks, and now it's just me and a PT college student who is terrific with the babies...she comes for sev hours each day so I can sleep, or get something done  ha ha.

3 months, my babies have a few things they love (uh, mirrors, for my son)...an activity mat (gymini), a wonderful mobile (tiny love music and sound...terrific) and the rain forest bouncer ...
Any other suggestions of what to do at this age? I read to them a lot as well...
They started sleeping through the night this week, but technically they were awhile ago, it's just the hours were wrong (uh, like 7:30 pm to 3 a.m.)...now they go until 5 or 6a.m. yay!
LOVE TO ALL

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the great advice always. I learn so much from reading this thread. It is an endless resource and so appreciated~!
I am almost 17 weeks along and other than my incompetent cervix and the cerclage surgery (yikes), I am hanging in there.
I was wondering if any of the twin mommies remember being very anxious and worried about their preg. It seems there are so many unknown factors and I find myself fearful a lot. I dont worry about the babies being healthy, more about my body handling the preg. I was not fearful at all with my first two preg, and really exercised until the end. My last preg ended at 21 weeks (preterm labor) and I am finding that I am scared alot. My dr's arent really helping, as they are encouraging me to be way on the conservative side.
Am I crazy?

Hey ladies....I am reallllly tired. I am taking a poll to see how many husbands are helping out during the night. I have been asking around and so far I havent heard of one dad that gets up with his kids. It's the "well he has to go to work" excuse. NEWSFLASH...SO DO I!! But I am still up with my kids every 2-3 hours feeding one while my wife has the other.

BTW...The kids are doing great. Garrett is a little constipated (any tips). The doc said to take a q-tip with some vasolene on it. We did that twice and nothing so far.

Take Care

Good morning everyone! It's going to be a hot one here today! 106*!!!! YIKES!

Vickersx3~ Great poll! I am proud to say that my dh would help at night if he could but since I nursed them solely there was very little for him to ever do. Rarely did he have to help me but he always did when I asked. You are a better man than most! Keep it up!
As for the little fella, we did the q-tip thing and it worked great. Try to gently massage in itty bitty circles, sorry TMI! Is he breast or formula fed? Formula, I hear, sometimes really backs them up. Good luck!

Sarahalf~ It sounds like you have had a good reason to be scared. Past sorrow and the cerclage. For me I was probably jsut the opposite to a fault. I felt too great and felt like I could still do it all. Then I had early babies. :( As cleche' as it sounds, just try to stay positive and take it very easy. I think in your case there is no amount too little to do. We will do all we can to keep you smilin' and positive! As for crazy???? Aren't we all!!!!

Woodcliff~ It's official! I'm coming to you for all moral boosting and self-esteme building! Thanks! We do try though to keep our life as close to pre-baby life as we can. We just add them to the mix. Last night we went to the river and BBQ'ed on the beach while we took turns riding the rapids and it was so much fun. The children ate loads of sand and the 100+ weather about killed me! It was a reminder though that I need to do something to rid myself of the recent weight gain I have had! That's what I get for being so arrogant about loosing it all so fast!
Thanks for the compliments though. I HATE pictures of myself and am NOT photogenic at all. I once was convinced to do a modeling shoot when I lived in NYC and even that photographer told me "Wow, you are NOT good on film!" Yep, that's me! As for dh, I think he'll be so happy to hear your compliment since he hasn't seen a gym in about 10 years!
Sounds like you are doing great w/o the help! We knew you could do it! Sleeping babies and busy babies. I think the activities really help them get a better rest. Walks are great or just taking a blanket to the park or outside and hanging out. Anything new and mine loved dancing at that age a lot to different music. This week mine are doing Broadway showtunes and musicals and they both LOVE Sound of Music. Both get all excited to hear the goat herder song! Glad things are going so well for you! HURRAY!

Kimi~ How hot is it going to be today for you? I think we could all have a go in the kiddie pool today!

Tons to do and yet I'm sooooooo tired today! Doesn't look good for the chores!
Better run!

Question to those moms who have already delivered:

When did you deliver and how were your babies health? I just have this feeling that I will not make it past 34 weeks (if that even) since I am having issues with contractions and shortening of the cervix. But, if you did deliver earlier than 34 weeks how are your babies and their development?

Hope everyone had a great 4th!

Hey Sugabeanzs~ My babies were delivered at 34 weeks exactly after a 2 week stay in the hospital on bedrest. First, I would have done ANYTHING to have cooked them a little longer. My babies were in the NICU for 16 days and although mine were basically what they call "Feeders and Growers" they still had IV's stuck in them and gavage tubes in their noses and I had to bond with my babies while tons of strangers were coming in and out. When I look back, I wish I would have done more. The mag was making me so out-of-it and my judgement was impaired from just being so tired. I was never able to get more than 2 hours of sleep because I had the machine dinging like crazy when a baby would get off his/her monitor and they were constantly checking me since my mag was so high.
It was hard to stay in the hospital for that 2 weeks and then to be there 16 more days after delivery. I was SOOOO ready to go home.

They say every day you can keep them in is 3 less days in the NICU. I really think the 34 mark is crutial. Before 34 weeks they most likely will not be able to breathe on their own and when they are intibated(sp) you cannot really even hold them. I'm not trying to scare you. It's just that I think mind over matter needs to get a jump start here. Even if you are so irritated resting. . . keep it up. Relax as much as you can and if you need the meds to stay out of the L&D, well, it's a lot better than visiting the NICU for 16 hours a day. Think positive and try not to entertain the negative. Babies are strong and the girls do better than the boys so do everything you can and just know that they will be fine.

My babies are a little behind or at least slower I should say. Neither one crawls yet but both move around just fine. Mine are also very tiny. My little guy is still only 15.8 lbs. They are both healthy and happy and they had no serious problems from being early. My little guy did have an antibiotic that just made him miserable for so long. He got thrush so bad from it that he had to have a scope and everything. It was heart wrenching. He's jsut fine now though.

Good luck and keep them cooking! We are all here for you if you need us.

My 4th of July weekend completely stunk!!!!! I'll spare you the details but let's just say we came home and dh is still there and the kids don't party! Sometimes the lack of judgement on the part of adults is seriously an issue!

My little guy has just figured out that he can climb around in his crib during nap time. Don't ask me why he never figured this out before since he has been climbing on everything for a while now but it is causing a serious problem. He just walks around his crib the entire time yelling and keeping his sister up as well. He may be living in the office again! Poor guy! He does go to sleep at night thank goodness but it's really breaking up my golden schedule!

Better run!

Hi everyone!

Once again, I wasn't getting notified of posts. I'll try to catch up.

First of all, VICKERS---Yeah for you for helping! Yes, my DH had to help me every night. Because we were supplementing, I just couldn't bf and bottle feed two babies within a reasonable amount of time, so DH would join me to supplement one baby, and I took care of the rest. It was hard, for him, for sure. He had to work too. In fact, it's his own business, so he can't "call in sick". I will say, us mommas are trained for the sleep deprivation during our pregnancies, while the daddies aren't. Luckily, by 10 weeks, we were all sleeping again, so just know that this will pass. eventually. Hang in there! On the constipation note, a thermometer in the behind worked wonders for us. Warm baths too!

woodcliff--HI! sounds like you've got a great system going for you. And wow, the college student sounds like great help! As for activities, I had mine on the floor a lot--with activity mats, bouncy seats that had toys they could bat at, etc. Lots of singing, reading, etc. I would hold them, rock them, etc. Get them outside when you can--the fresh air, sounds, sights will amaze them! ARound 3-4 months, we also started using our exersaucer and bumbo seats. IT depends on how big your babies are, but if they can hold their heads up, they should be ready. Mine loved seeing things from a different view.

sara--I remember being very anxious through the first trimester, but then I felt great. However, you have good reason to be anxious. Like Kimberly said, you've just got to hang in there and stay positive. Rest as much as you can...it's not a sign of weakness by any means. YOur babies need you so much right now. I'm wishing you all the best!

Kholtan--you are so full of it! You are GORGEOUS!!!! ANd yeah, your DH ain't too bad either! Sorry to hear about the 4th....was dh partying too hard? I LOVE the musical ideas! We play lots of music here too--Braeden is a blues fan already...he totally grooves to it, it's so funny! I should try the sound of Music though---at least it'll be a change of pace for us! So Bodie's a climber? Hmmmm....he can join my monkey boy over here! Climbs everywhere. As for napping,, we've been napping in separate rooms for months now. The kids sleep in their nursery at night, but during the day, I had to separate them--they loved to keep each other up. Bodie might just have to nap in the office, huh?

sugabeanz--I delivered a day shy of 37 weeks. Hang in there girl! Just take a week at a time...I ditto Kholtan's advice!

For anyone I missed, I hope you're doing well.

We went to the local pool yesterday since it was pretty hot out, and the kids loved it! I definitely have water babies for sure. I'm looking forward to when they're a little older, and I can take them swimming by myself--DH had to go yesterday--it's still too hard to take them somewhere like that. They both move in OPPOSITE directions! Go figure!

buckeyegal: thank you so much for the words of encouragement! i think the other moms to be would agree, it is an amazing help! it is such an exciting and scary thing to be preg with two babies and everything is new and dift!
i am 17 weeks today and i really have been going one week at a time. i think it really helps to set small goals, and to just rest and care for yourself as much as possible. i have been reading some of the other threads (feb has lots of twin moms to be!) and we all seem to agree the double trouble moms are the best!
so thank you, thank you, thank you all for taking the time to write about your lives with the babies and for encouraging all of us thru the preg!

Well I went in for my 27 week appointment and had to wait an hour and half which I have never had to do nor want to do again! But she did a cervix check and I am starting to funnel (which means it is going to eventually open up here soon) and I am at 2.3cm which is getting into the danger zone. So just bed rest for me. I have my high risk appt. next week and they will check it again. If it gets too short I have to go to the hospital and be admitted till they are born most likely because it is really hard to do strict bed rest at home.

Other than that little happening, I still am sitting at gaining 14 pounds this pregnancy (just baby then and most likely lost weight since preggers) AND I passed my 3 hour glucose test!!! I am excited because I like carbs too much! The test itself was horrible because nothing to eat or drink in that long of a time was horrible. I was so dehydrated by the end of the test they could not find a vein (I have bad veins as it is) and they had to keep poking and I am bruised. The husband says I look like a heroine addict.

So hopefully these babies can stay in there a little longer so that they do not have to be in the NICU for too long of a period of time!

Ok, I survived!!
My DH came home from Ireland last Thursday and everything is back to normal now. My son is happy and so are the babies. Now, he'll be gone again in Aug, but at least now I know that it's manageable.

Hope all your July 4th was good!!

Sugarbeanz, my thoughts are with you. I am sure you are committed to do whatever needed for the babies to stay longer. I hope it doesn't thin out as much by the next appointment. I agree it's hard to do at home. I moved way too much and I should have rested more. Twins, Triplets and Quads by Dr Luke? Oh by the way, I delivered at 34 weeks and 5 days and the babies did not need any breathing assistance. They only needed to be trained to eat and did great. I think it helped that I ate really well during the pregnancy because the babies were pretty big for their gestation. I had two glasses of protein shake per day in addition to protein rich meals.

vickers, I bet you are tired! I completely understand. My DH did not help as much because he went back to work in two weeks, but my Mom was here for two months. What we did was that I stayed up all night and napped during the daytime while my Mom watched my twins. This worked really well for us and I did this for two months. Looking back, I cannot believe we did it for so long but at that time it made sense for us because there was no way I could have gotten enough sleep if I had slept at night. It's a lot of work and I was exhausted, but things got easier from the third month. I did the Q-tip thing as well when my daughter was constipated. It works really well.

Kim, no way you are not photogenic!! Cannot believe anyone would say that to you! My babies loves watching me do silly dance moves, too. Good thing no one's watching me! Is it that hot in Boise? My my... We are planning to go to Boise in a couple of weeks! I just made a reservation at a hotel in Meridian, but I think I will change it to downtown. I think it would be easier to get around if we stayed in the downtown area, considring we only have one van. We have some family there and lots of friends from college.

Woodcliff - your twinies are 3 months already. It's when things start to get more fun for them to be awake more. I am glad you are having fun with them and have a nice helper person coming by. It must be nice to have extra hands!! Things get easier every month and the babies become more interactive and fun, so we all have so much to look forward to. My two-year-old is so much fun to talk to and observe!!

Sarahalf, I was always worried during my twin pregnancy. I read lots of books and they all mention about risks etc... so I think they scared me a lot. But every appointment, I was told that things are going great and that helped me to be positive. My regular OB didn't really get into the details of my pregnancy but my multiple specialist did. Do you see a multiples doctor? I think talking to a specialized person helps to ease your mind. But over all I felt great and had a really nice pregnancy. It's only natural to worry and you are not crazy at all!! Best of luck to you!!

Kim, sounds like you are enjoying summer. I can just imagine Ellie and Braeden wearing cute little swimsuits and busy exploring the pool. My twins use their jumperoo and bumbo seat now. They jump like crazy and it's so much fun watching them bouncing around. I attempted to start solids but they still push out with their tonge. I will try again in a few days. I cannot believe they are starting solids already. They do grow up too fast, don't they?

Oh boy, I think I need to go it's 4pm already!!

Hope all is well with all the rest.

Kimi

Hey Mommies!

Kimi~ Sounds like you did better than you thought you would! Hurray! I'm sure you're still happy to have dh home though!
When you come to Boise let's do a playdate if you have time. Where did you decide to stay? There is a Hilton on the river in Eagle with easy access to the freeway and downtown. It also has a great resteraunt next door and a walking path that leads to the GREAT park for kids. The park has a water feature and everything that is really fun. Mine are too young but Sean would love it! I was just there today with our twin playgroup and I am always taking my kids and dog there since it's so close and on the river. Just an idea. I hope we can meet up for sure. :D PS~ It's HOT here!

Sugabeanzs~ YIKES! Sounds like you are going to be on the fast track to slowing WAY down! It'll all be worth it. I really didn't mind it too much. It gave me a chance to visit with people and I really appreciated the people who came to see me. It was a sweet pre-show of who was just as excited as me to welcome the babies. Keep us posted for sure and take care of yourself. There is no way to rest tooo much!

Sarahalf~I felt the same way you do about the twin mommies. I was SOOOOOO happy to have them for advice and just the simple concerns that pop up everyday. There are so many women on here that are like friends to me now. It's sad when I don't get on for days because I really do wonder how they are doing. There is an odd bond with twin mommies that can't be found anywhere else. I agree that they are GREAT! We are blessed to have you along for this amazing ride!

Kim~ It's so funny how alike our babies sound. I can picture Braeden climbing all over now!!! Bodie has officially become an office napper. It's like he is sent off because Annelise isn't the problem causer. Almost make me fell bad but then they nap for so long I get over it so quickly. :D Another musical favorite of ours in the care is the Disney CD's with a variety of songs on them. We go from Lion King to Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins is my personal favorite! We have been turning kitchen gadgets into musical intruments lately and things can get quite loud around here! Can't wait to see some more pics of your little ones! I found some bows like the ones I always see on Ellie and although Anna is shy the hair we still try them out. Bodie actually makes a BEAUTIFUL little girl!

My little man awoke last night with a fever but nothing else last night. I'm guessing it's his teeth because he was MISERABLE all day today but who knows? Hopefully tomorrow will be better for him. We attended the play date in the park this morning anyway since it was outside and we just kept people away just in case. He did great at the park though. We were a little startled when a nanny of triplets dropped one on his head right in front of my babies. They were a bit frightened by the little guys screams but I felt equally as bad for the nanny. She was doing so well with them too.
Tomorrow we have grocery shopping, costco, and I need to start getting ready for house guests so I better getting something done around here. Procrastination is a killer!

HAve a great night everyone!

Hi there,

Kimberley, we booked the TownePlace Suites on Capital (next to Anne Morrison park) from 18-21. We only have one car and I thought it would be easier to meet with people in downtown. Yeah, I would love to meet you! I am trying to arrange meetings with my friends but will definitely find a way to see you and your little ones. I am really excited about this little vacation because it's been two yrs since we'd gone to Boise. We love Boise and it is our home! Will let you know ASAP.

Gotta run, cause Noah is tired of jumping in jumperoo. (he's crying but still jumping  )
