Hey babyloves: My RE told me to take the baby aspirin through the whole cycle. So you may want to ask because you should probably still be taking it. Just make sure it's baby aspirin, and not regular strength aspirin. As for the Gonal-f, I used the Gonal pen, so I didn't have to draw mine into a syringe. I did with the Lupron though, but the only thing I noticed was we had a harder time getting it to go in the left side of my stomach, but I never had a problem with it on my right side, or in my leg. Try a different location, and maybe that will help. Good luck!

Hello Ladies,

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I had my first AP in 2 weeks yesterday. It is always so relaxing afterwards which is good since I am always so tense before (I am hypersensitive to the needles so it makes me nervous everytime). I will get 2 full months of AP in before my next cycle. I only had about a month of AP before my last cycle so I am hoping to have a good benefit.

JDC- I am on the high amount of meds cause my BMI is 40. Here is hoping I have better absorbtion this time witht he med change.

I hope everyone has a great day!

hi all!

babyloves- i'm not sure about the aspirin, but i used a gonal-f pen during my last stims and found it great- hardly any pain, small needle. it's a red pen that you dial up the dose you want (holds total of 900 ui, i think), then you change the needle tip for later doses. i'm not sure if this is the same as what you've got- if it isn't, ask about it, cause i found it sooo much easier and pain-free than any other injections i'd done before.

i'll send more personals later- off to work, welcome to the newcomers! karen

babyloves- I was on multi dose in my May cycle but don't remember it hurting. You might want to change needles after you draw up your medicine. I know sometimes my Lupron injections were hard to penetrate my stomach. Just make sure you have a quick jab action and that seems to help some. Good luck!! I was only on baby aspirin after my ER.

jharris12 - she never comes when you really want her to :) Try to relax. I know I started last month after I stopped stressing about it. I also heard that parsley tea can help a late AF show. Good luck with your appt. tonight!!

valerie68 - That is great the lady will come to your house!! Glad things worked out for you.

hopinginpa- Glad you get to get started again soon!!

SueQiwi - have no idea what the herbs are. My AP gave me some herbs in pill form and I googled them. They have to do AF.

bell-02 - Good luck with your first AP appt.

Well, I had my first AP appt today and it was o.k. I don't feel any different yet. I will keep it up and see what happens. This lady hooked electric wires to some of the needles to send a pulse through them. Anyone have this kind? My ear still bothers me some, not hurting more that I am constantly aware of it if that makes sense :? I go back in on Thursday. She did give me some herbs in pill form to take.

After that appt I went and got a detox treatment. I had a massage, foot treatment and facial. It was really nice :D Especially since my face has been getting a little scaly in areas

Hope everyone else is doing great!!

Good evening!

Babyloves~I'm sorry you're having a tough time with your meds. Hopefully you got it resolved. I can't help you as I was on Bravelle and Menopur and I had to mix 4 vials before the injection. So I used a different needle for the mixing than changed it to the needle for injection.
In a day or so, you'll have your E2 number checked. I hope it's a good one!

jharris~ I'm sorry she's taking her sweet time. Mine is kind of too! I've been spotting for the past 3 days, heavier today and should be full flow tomorrow. I think we're still kind of messed up from all the previous meds.

Coco~ Sorry to hear about DH. I wish him the best for next week for his surgery! Hang in there...one of those hurdle to get through!

Bell~ Glad everything is on schedule for your FET next month.
I should have ET a few days after you. You'll love AP, you'll be more relaxed for sure and try to meditate while you're laying there, that's what I do and I love it.

Hoping~ I'm so glad you had a wonderful time with your brother :) and I hope DH is doing better now. Wow, 32 is pretty low, I'm sure he was not feeling good at all!
Yeah for starting the stims, that's exciting! You and Babyloves will lead the way!

Sueqiwi~ Sorry I don't know anything about those herbs.

JDC~ How's AP going? Do you feel better already? I know those eggs are getting better and better...Grade A they're going to be!

Turtles~ you won't feel different after the first session, it's gradual. But I think you will start feeling better, calmer, more centered.
I was a mess after the chemical, like I had pms all the time, I didn't recognize myself. This month, I didn't have any pms symptoms. My AP says that's because the hormones are getting balanced.
I never the needles put in my ears but twice I've had pain in my right leg at the same spot. Could be that the needle hit something. I wouldn't worry about it. And I've never had electric wires attached to the needles either, so I can't help you on that.

Babycrazy~ My best friend gave me 'The Secret' when I had my surgery knowing that I was going for IVF afterwards and I loved it. If I find myself not being positive enough, I go back to the book, open it and start reading so I can stay on track.
I do strongly believe in the power of positive thinking and how much it can affect the outcome of a situation. In our situation, I think it's that much more important!

Well ladies, have a wonderful evening and I'll catch you later.

Hugs to all

New here

Post by muggsey24 »

Hello ladies! I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I am 35 and DH is 38. We are getting ready to start our 1st round of IVF. I go on Thursday for my consult. We are very excited but nervous. We have been married for 16 yrs. and have three children but feel our family is still not complete. I had a reversal in 2005 and since then i have had four m/c. The last resulting in the loss of my right tube and ovary due to an ectopic. My left tube is blocked. I am very nervous about all the med's. If you don't mind may I ask what you ladies are paying for an IVF cycle? Is anyone soing the shared risk program? As you can tell I am very new at this. Hoping to get alot of answers on Thursday after my consult:-) Hope you ladies have a great night.

Thanks all for your advice. Jharris...you were right on, the aspirin needs to continue for the whole cycle except right before ER. The nurse said for the injection to make sure the bevel is up and angled slightly. Turtles..I like the idea about the jab, i think i'm too slow and gentle. The nurse said I can put the med into a new syringe and change the needle too, but i think i'll use the other tips first. They just didn't hurt so much with my IUI's (prolly cuz they were less frequent). NEways, gotta do what we gotta do...and we do a lot... thanks again!

Good evening ladies. I went back to see my RE today, and we are doing IVF!! I told him I was 5 days past when I thought AF should arrive, so he did an US, and said everything is quiet and looks like I recently ovulated. So he did vlood work to check my E2 and progesterone, and wrote me a prescription for Provera, when they get the results tomorrow they will tell me if I can start taking it. Apparently the Provera is supposed to get me to start, and when I do, I will go in on Day 2 for US/BW and then get to start stims!! WOW!! So it looks like I will be stimming in the next couple weeks!! I am so excited!! I'm no entirely sure what my schedule will be, but I'm guessing I will find out more tomorrow based on my BW from today.

OK, I will do personals later. Gotta go!

Way to go jharris!! That's wonderful news and your mind is now at ease for this cycle! :D And it looks like you'll be cycling earlier than thought.
I should be stimming towards the end of the first week in Aug.
I'm going in for BW on Thurs as AF is now definitely here. That just feels good.

Welcome Muggsey!! You did not have an easy time after your reversal, I'm sorry to hear that.
When you go see your RE, make sure you have all your questions written down. I do that otherwise I forget some of them as this whole process is a little overwhelming.
As far as price, each clinic is a bit different and depending on what you do or don't do, the price goes up or down. The meds are expensive and according to how you respond to them. It will be probably around $4000 for the meds.
the whole cycle for us was around 12K/ 13K and we did ICSI. That's including the meds. If you freeze embryos, then it's at least another 1K.
Let us know if we can help you with anything.

Later Girls!

Jharris-so glad to hear everything is settled and you have a definate plan now.

Welcome Muggsey, This is my 2nd cycle my first cost 5k for meds (but I was on alot) 6700 for IVF and 1800 for ICSI so i agree that 12-13k is a good price to expect. However when you add in testing and all that it added another 2k on to our cost but we had zero insurance coverage. If you can afford it and have it in your area I highly recommend AP. This process is stressful and AP or massages are so relaxing. And any relaxation you can get thru this process is welcomed. Hoping to see lots of BFPs from this thread)))))

Hi Girls
Still on vacation, & relatives etc. so don't have time for personals today, but wanted to get back to SueQiwi
I don't know what those herbs are. I guess Natropathic ones are named differently in Chinese med & translated into english. Try googling each one..you should be able to find some info. Sorry i couldn't help!

Good morning ladies, and welcome Muggsey! It is understandable that you are anxious about ivf and the meds. I think we all felt the same way. I was so nervous my first cycle that I was going to get the dosage wrong or screw something up with the meds, but after you do it once or twice you really get the hang of it. Also, it is all of the unknown....even though we try and prepare ourselves as much as possible, the whole experience is new and scary. But you will do just fine, and we are here to help! It was an excellent suggestion to write down any questions for your RE.

Jharris - congrats on moving forward....I'm excited for you! We will be stimming approx. at the same time. BFP's here we come!

I wish I could address everyone, but I must get ready for work. Everyone have an exceptional day! And keep up the PMA :P

valerie - thanks. I didn't know how to expect to feel after AP. I am going again tomorrow. I did bruise on one spot on my leg, but I do bruise easily.

babyloves - Oh, you can't be slow and gentle. That hurts!! If you go fast and jab it doesn't usually hurt at all. Some needles do get dull.

muggsey-
Welcome!! I paid 5K for the meds and 10K for ICSI. Don't worry about the meds, once you get started it becomes a routine. I made lots of lists though so I would get the right amount.

jharris- Woo Hoo. Glad you get to start soon. Did he say he was going to change your protocol since you were slow to start last time? They changed me to flare protocol and that made quite a difference for me. Good luck!!

Well, I don't know if it was the AP, the massage or both, but I slept hard last night. I had a really hard time getting up today!! :) Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Good afternoon ladies. Hope you are all having a great day.

Welcome Muggsey: Sounds like you have had a lot going on the past couple years. We didn't do the shared risk thinking that we wouldn't need 3 cycles, but we are now on cycle 2. Our 1st cycle cost about $13000 for IVF/ICSI/meds/etc...Sounds like that is about average. Good luck with your consult tomorrow!

babyloves: Good luck with the shots. Hopefully they will get easier for you.

valerie: Good luck with the BW tomorrow now that AF showed up! Not much longer before stims!

JDC: Thanks! Glad I will be stimming with someone! Can't wait to get this going! Not much longer for us now!! :D

turtles: Yes, he is changing the protocol to a flare protocol for me, too. Hopefully we will get better results this time. Glad the AP and massage helped!

Rinnie: Hope you are enjoying your vacation!

As for me, just waiting to hear from the nurse about my BW results to see if I start my Provera today. Always waiting for something! :? I will check in with you all later.

Thanks ladies for welcoming me into this group! I am very excited about starting the IVF process but nervous at the same time. I am glad that I have you guys to learn from and to answer my many questions. Thanks for recommending writing my questions down before my visit tomorrow. I am sure I will have many more to come. From your consult to your actual ET - how long did it take for you ladies?

MzTia - Thanks for recommending AP or massage. I have a friend that does massage. I may need to give her a call and set up some appt's. I could probably use some stress relief in the coming weeks.

Valerie68 and JDC - I see you will both be starting stims soon.

Jharris12 - My friend is starting provera on Monday. Then her med's to follow.

Turtle - glad your AP is going well.

Thanks again ladies for welcoming me into your group and I am excited about keeping up with each of our cycles.
