Caesarean Section

Post by joanie74 »

Hello,
My doctor has said that it is in my best interest to have a c-section, because I am having twins. He wants me to think of a good time to schedule it four weeks before my due date. Who else has experienced this with their doctor?

Hi
I watched my friend deliver her twin girls naturally without any problems. Do you have a medical condition that he may be concerned with?

Hi Kery -

I to have been told by my RE that a c-section will prob be happening. Now I have not graduated to my OB yet but what my RE said was 1 out of 100 Dr's deliver faternal twins vaginally. I am a bit mad at this as I want a choice. I mean of course if there is a medical prob them what ever is best for the babies and me.

The thing is with faternal twins I guess the first one is normally OK but then the second one gets pulled down and sometime the cord gets to tight or the first one throw the second one out of position. I am going to interview a few OB's to see if I can find one that will at least try until we see a prob.

Good luck to you though.

I'd be very interested to hear what you ladies find out.
It seems from the books that c sections happen more than half the time with twins. I think the OB's like a controlled environment when they are delivering.
I am having twins in Nov (Im "due" Dec 15 but was told to plan for 36 weeks) and have had two previous vaginal deliveries. Im conflicted about having an unncessary surgery yet want to do whats best for the babies..

Thanks for all of the replies. I don't have a medical condition. I just went through IVF and the doctor said since I have been through so much he didn't want me to labor on my own and risk something bad happening. He said that a lot of times both babies are not in the correct position. He has seen one come out fine and the other struggle to come out and they end up doing a c-section after labor.

The twins are fraternal. He also has me on Progesterone shot 1x/week to try to prevent me from going in to preterm labor.

I just thought I would see what others have gone through or are going through. I figure that he has seen a lot more than I have when it comes to giving birth. I trust him but also like to do my research.

Thanks everyone,

Joanie
