heartrates around 6 1/2 weeks??

Post by carisa »

Just found out my gestational carrier is pregnant with twins! We are so excited, yet still cautious. I'm so worried something will go wrong.
Our first ultrasound was a few days ago. Our gestational carrier (surrogate) was 6wks4days at the time. The babies were measuring well, one was measuring 6wks3days, the other 6wks5days. Both had a heartrate of 123 bpm. How does that sound to you? I'm so worried-I can't wait until the first trimester is over! Thanks everyone.

Congrats on the twins, that is fabulous!!!

I am 6w5d today and I just had my first u/s at 6w2d and saw my twins, but unfortunatley we didnt get a BPM, but we did see their heartbeats and they were very strong.

So, what I have been reading, between 6-7 weeks, anything over 100 is very good, some websites say anything over 90, but I think that is 5w6d and up. Then each week there after until 9-10 weeks they will increase 10-20% in BPM.

Looks like you have 2 very strong heartbeats there. Thats great!!!

When do you and your surrogate go back for the next u/s?

Hi Dakota,

Thats great. I bet you are so excited!! Our next ultrasound is next Saturday, the 19th. I'm nervous, just hoping everthing is still ok. They did say the heartbeats were good, I just like reassurance. Thanks for that!

How have you been feeling?

It is hard to wait in between u/s. My next one is the 16th and I am already going crazy!! You think that when you have some cramps it is suppose to be good, but your still worried, is it really the good kind. Then when you have no cramps you freak out. Its crazy!!
How is your surrogate doing?

I'm feeling ok. Very, very tired, but no sickness yet.

Keep me posted on how things are progressing. I'd love to hear how the twins are doing next Sat.

Congratulations!

At my first u/s baby measured 3.81mm and her heartrate was 103bpm. I was concerned b/c even though they said anything over 100 was fine I thought that was cutting it kinda close. My nurse said you can't look at it that way. Over 100 is over 100.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant now w/a very healthy baby girl!

Lots of good wishes to you! Big congrats! :D

DAKOTA-Yes i will keep you posted after my next ultrasound. I would love to hear about your next ultrasound too!! The 16th is coming up right around the corner. Yes, waiting inbetween ultrasounds is complete torture!! My gc is doing ok. She has been really nauseas lately. Yesterday she called and said she wasn't feeling as nauseas and of course I get worried. She's been tired too.

MELLIE1233-Thank you for the reassurance. Congratulations on the healthy baby girl. I bet you are so excited to finally have her.

Congratulations on the twin pregnancy! My first u/s was at 6w6d and our heartbeats were 125 and 130. I am now 22 weeks pregnant with my identical twin girls. Are yours identical or fraternal?

Cornybaby-this is a silly question, but how do you know it they are identical or fraternal?? I just assumed they are fraternal because we transferred to blastocysts from IVF. Congratulations on your twin babies! It's so exciting!!

There's 3 different types of twins, and with IVF it's likely they are fraternal. I transferred 4 embies and much to my surprise 1 split! You can make a good guess by looking at the ultrasound. If they are in 2 separate chorionic sacs, they are fraternal. If it appears they are in one sac, they may be identical. Here's a link to explain the different types.

Mine happen to be monochorionic diamniotic twins, meaning they share the same chorionic sac but are in separate amniotic sacs. If you transferred 2 blasts, I would bet they are fraternal, although I have seen a handful of identicals through IVF too! :D :D

Thanks for the explanation! I did not see the first ultrasound because my gestational carrier is clear across the country in Charlotte, NC. I'm in California. I assume she would have told me if there were any surprised such as identical. I'm hoping for fraternal so I can avoid some extra complications. I know this is going to already be a hard pregnancy on her. Our gestational carrier is a friend of mine.

When did you hear your twins first heartbeats? What were they?
