Thinking of doing IVF (PGD) and scared

Post by keren7 »

I am new in this message board. The last time that I was in a message board I was 4 monthes pregnant.
My name is Keren and I am 26 years-old.
I had to ternimate my pregnancy a week ago for medical reasons (because I found out that my son is sick). Now my options are very limited because I can't take the chance to go through what I went through again. It was hell...
So, today I went to a consultation with a specialist about PGD and IVF and I'm scared.
I saw the needles...

My question is how painful is the procedure? And did anyone else had to do IVF for medical (Genetic) reasons?

I'd appreciate any help.
Thank you.

Oh Keren

I am so sorry you had to do that last week. It must have been so very hard for you. My thoughts really go out to you and your DH.

You will have loads of support from this board. There is nothing scary about IVF as we have all got through it one way or another. Some have had many treatments and others it's been first time. I had to have ICSI as my tubes got blocked and damaged from surgery 15 years ago. I am now 20 weeks PG after 3 attempts.

I think the thought of injecting yourself is worse than actually doing it.

Be positive and take care.

Hi Karen,
I'm so sorry about the hard decision you've had to make - concentrate on yourself for a little while and get yourself 'balanced' again.....
I've had 3 IVF cycles and always found it more emotionally hard than painful, but it's something we all deal with because of the outcome we all want. As for the needles - I hate them too - my dh took charge of that side of things for me and I just shut my eyes!!! I have to say though, they're not that bad and you do get used to them.
Whatever you decide, the girls on this board will be with you every step of the way and provide support that is incredible...
Take care of yourself

I'm sorry for what you have been through, IVF isn't as bad as you think to be honest, I hate needles but got through them because you just think of the reasons why your doing it and it makes it a lot easier.
I am sure that all the girls will be very helpful on here, everyone is so friendly and very welcoming as you probably know by now.

Love
