Hi everyone,

Happy sunday! Adsgirl you are right, board was very quiet this weekend! I have been catching up with some friends as i haven't seen much of them over the last month and a half with the cycle and shots and stuff.

Wishful - Just wanted to tell you good luck tomorrow. I hope the doctor gives you some good news. I wish you the very best and please let us know how you are doing.

Mommak- welcome! I don't know how much advice i can give for the 2ww...haha I went crazy waiting! I didn't have to do the PIO shots, I have the suppositories, better I suppose , but definitely still not by any means fun :)

sonu - how are you feeling this weekend? I went out to lunch with a friend on saturday and had to run to the restroom in the middle of it. I have not felt like that since my college hungover days!! haha I do agree with you though, it was kinda nice to know the embie/s is still holding on.

ndg - i had a ton of follies as well to start with...I think they counted 17 total more on right then left....I remember the pa saying how good that was. Good luck with all the stims :)

tara - how are you doing?

adsgirl - WOW! Great number!!! woo hoo no wonder why you are so tired :) I did ask the nurse on Friday if I could keep taking the probiotic, she said she doesn't see why not but to check with my gyn just to be safe. I have read only positive things about in regards to the baby so hopefully I will have the ok. When is your U/S? are you so excited????

Jude - me and you tomorrow for BW again :) good luck and lets keep the numbers climbing! I can't wait for mine tomorrow since I didn't have one two days after the first....It will be 4 days...I just want to see the numbers climbing :) let us know how it goes!

Kimmy - welcome!

alright ladies, i am out for the night I think. Can't seem to keep my eyes open as long as I used to :) Love to all for a great week!

beta clarification?

Post by MommaKK »

Okay, so, my first round of IVF and I am not clear on the beta calculations - can someone help?

We did our ET on July 3, and are scheduled to go back on July 15th (tomorrow!) for the hcg/p4 test - it's not quite two weeks, but does beta counting begin from them assuming the embryo is growing properly (fingers crossed!!).

I've been calm - mostly, but wake up some mornings freaked that "its not working". We only had one embryo to transfer - so all my eggs are in this basket :D

I'm generally realistically optimistic - as my dr said - it's either 100% good news or not!

thanks to everyone on this site.

Mommak - No need to worry about the beta numbers too much...basically, as long as it isn't 0, there is hope! We had someone on the May/June board that started with a 13, and she is now well along into her pregnancy. Did you do a 3- or 5-day transfer? The beta is actually calculated from days past egg retrieval. But regardless...your first beta you just want to show a positive number...after that, you want it to double every-other day. Hope this helps. Good luck! Your beta is tomorrow!! Are you planning to (or have you already) POAS?

Congratulations Jude on the BFP!!! Im so happy for you. Good luck today with your BETA. Good luck to you Bella on your BETA as well!! C'mon big #s!!!

Ndgo - 32 follies - wow!!!!!!!! That's fantastic! Good luck with the stims!!!

To have fun - So far my follies are growing. I went in on Saturday morning and this morning and they are getting bigger. Yeah. I'm thinking that ER will at the earliest be this weekend, but more likely Monday or Tuesday of next week. I'm just happy I'm responding to the meds at this point and all the docs keep saying everything looks good. Phew.... Thanks for asking.

Adsgirl - That's an AWESOME beta!!! 1387 - wow!!! I am soooooooo happy for you!!!!

Wishful - Definitely keep us updated. Good luck with the RE today.

MommaKK - Welcome! Hang in there during the 2ww. I know it can be difficult. Just try to stay busy. You'll still be thinking about it but at least you'll be a bit distracted. And rest rest rest. I too will probably have to do a couple PIO shots to myself. I haven't figured that one out yet. I'll be out of town for 2 days (assuming I get a BFP) and my DH won't be with me. I have a friend that will be with me who has agreed to do it if necessary. I'll ask the doc when that time comes.

I hope all the preggos are feeling good. Sonu - your story about morning sickness was too cute :) !!!

OMG Jude - that has got to be a multiple with a number like that - remind me how many did you transfer??

Re appointment went ok .. the route for DH and me now though is Egg donor .. we are both ok with this .. just want a baby :D Re said we were basically wasting our money in his opinion if tried again with my eggs due to poor response rates even on max dose of gonal f due to my age

So just need to do some research now as the linic does not do DE there but RE will help us find right clinic and do anything he can tests/scans wise if needed.. said success rate with my eggs and age for IVF is about 20% .. with DE nearer 48% .. just need a donor now

Good luck everyone else with scans/betas and Er/ET - will keep watching you

donor egg ivf

Post by rs »

Hi Wishful27,
I have had 3 IVFs now, one with donor egg and 2 with mine, the two times I tried with mine we never made it to Egg retrieval, I never made more than 4 follicles and they wouldnt continue with less than 4 follicles of good size. When we did donor egg, we completed the cycle and my RE was very hopeful BUt unfortumately it didnt happen for us. I did the donor egg IVF in Bombay. It was very affordable there, the treatment cost 6000 dollars, that includes donor fee and all other fees. We had to pay for our hotel and airfare from Toronto.
I concieved naturally the month after though. that ended in a miscarriage.

Did you think of adoption ever? I am trying to explore as much as possible in that direction.

take care

hanging tight!

Post by MommaKK »

Glad to be back at work today - good distractions.

So yes, I had 1 embryo for a Day 3 transfer, and will have my first beta :) tomorrow. No, I didn't POAS, thinking since I won't be able to count on that response I might as well wait. Might not make it the next 24 hours though!

I'll watch for those numbers to go up - didn't realize that there is a next phase of check ins with the clinic etc.

Jude - thanks for the encouragement - I hope to be following in your beta steps!

ndgo82 - re: the stims burning - have you tried icing the spot before you do the shots? I found it at least a little bit helpful. Plus if you are pinching as you put the needle in, it helped me to pinch more lightly.

Thanks everyone for keeping your fingers crossed for me - as I am for you. Looking forward to good news for all.
