Has any of you talked with your RE about this? I am IR and cant have sugar, I was a Dt Coke adict before all of this but havent had one. I've been wanting like a 1/2 can of soda now and then for something other than the 110 oz of water I drink a day. What do you know about very little dt/caf free soda's in little moderation?
I was told by my ob/gyn at 13 weeks that I could use Splenda in small quantities so I have been having one packet in my Earl Grey tea every morning. Not all artificial sweetners are ok though. Some of the sodas are made with Splends and some not. I was told to only use Splenda and not nutrasweet or any of the others. I would ask your doctor to be sure. I also waited until the second trimester to have them.
I was told to use none of them. There hasn't been enough research done on Splenda so my OB said not to take the chance. He told me to use real sugar if I needed some. HTH!
I did not use any artificial sweeteners this pregnancy, everything was sugar sugar sugar, UNTIL... I developed gestational diabetes. My GD dietitian said most artificial sweeteners are okay. Not sure if that's because I'm so close to the end??? But I have been having artificial sweeteners since week 30. My rationale is, it is more important for my blood sugar to remain stable. Of course, I could still refrain from having the sweeteners, but sometimes I feel I need something more exciting than the taste of water, and bitter coffee. (I can't have fruit juice either). So, my situation is a little different, but the point is my dietitian said it's okay.

I got GD at 13 weeks pregnant...and my dietician and high risk doc said the same thing. Back to Diet 7up (which is what I drink normally anyways) and all sweetners are fine EXCEPT sweet n low.
