I've just had a call from my GP telling me I have got a urine infection - Which is why I have been having very sharp pains in the pelvic region. She is putting me on a course of antibiotics and I was just wondering if anyone else has had to take antibiotics during pregnancy? I have had so many different drugs alread since being PG from being in hospital with hyperemesis etc I don't really want to have any more drugs but I suppose needs must.
I expect there must be safe antibiotics for preggy people and the GP's know what they're doing? I'm just a bit worried.
Not sure if you read my post about a week ago, I had been suffering really bad with back ache. Well I had some swabs done and it come back that I had a water infection and they prescribed me with antibiotics. To be honest I was like yourself I was worried about taking them and they said it was ok to take them because they was ones which was prescribed for pg women. I had to take them for 5 days and I must admit it cleared my water infection and also it cleared my backache. If we wasn't safe to take them they wouldn't give tjhem us but I do understand your concern because I was exactly like you.
I wouldn't worry too much as the doc would never give you anything that wasn't safe for you and the baby and it's better to get rid of any infection before it gets any worse...My friend had to take stuff in both pregnancies and apparently it's quite common.
Do you drink Cranberry juice?? My mum swears by it (as she's got dodgy kidneys) and a couple of times I've had hints of infections and my modwife just said to up water intake and drink Cranberry juice...there must be something in it!
Poor you! I wouldn't worry the girls are right, the antibiotics they prescribe in pregnancy pass the placenta so don't affect the baby. I tested positive last time for urine infection (protein) and they sent it away to be looked at and then I had to do it again and it seems to come back clear, in the meantime I was drinking cranberry juice and water (as Zoe says) like nobody's business and I'm convinced it helped clear it up.
Take your tabs and get some cranberry juice and you'll be back to normal in no time!
Thanks for your replies. I hate taking antibiotics as they don't really agree with me but the pain out ways the drugs so I have to take them.
I will get some cranberry juice too like you suggest.
Yeah, I have started taking them and I am feeling a bit better although they do make me feel really sick. I have never had a reaction to amoxicillin before but other antibiotics have the same affect. It is really rainy and very, very windy here at the mo so I am just pottering around. My step daughter is coming this afternoon after being at a sleep-over. I suspect it will be a 'just watching a film' kind of afternoon.
Hope you are all well. Shell, good luck for tomorrow. I will be thinking about you.
Glad you are feeling a little better - still take the Cranberry juice as well though!
It's very wet here too, and stormy. We went out today and not far up the road the snow was ponding on the hills! Thought we'd seen the last of it...
You're right though - a 'slobby' day if ever there was one...
Have a good one

At least you still have snow. It never lasts long over here, I wish it would. My DH hates the snow during the week but loves it at the weekend - fickle boy!
I went shopping today with the sole intention of getting some cranberry juice and came home £90 poorer and no juice!!!!!!!! What a sap
Still, I did buy 2 lovley outfits for the baby, loads more food and a lovely plant for the living room.
I feel a lot better today and not so sick which is a relief. I have just started to feel the baby kick a lot and my DH even felt it. I just love it.
I am feeling loads better now I have started the course. I am so woolly at the moment I can never remember if I have taken the blasted pill or not. I had to get up at 2am and turn off the house alarm go down stairs and count how many I had left
What a ninny!!!!
My PG brain mixed with antibiotics is not boding well for me at the mo - my DH is worried when I go out in the car!
Not long to go for you now I wonder how Shell is getting on today?
