Help! UT has trouble finding ovaries & follies!

Post by mgpasco »

I just went in for my second US and the tech (not my RE - my RE is 100 miles away) said she only saw 3 follicles on my LT and didn't say anything about my RT. My first scan the UT almost killed me and said she couldn't find my ovaries. My RE nurse (for my very first appt.) had no trouble at all. I am sooooo bummed because I am worried they are going to have to stop this cycle because I am not producing enough. I started my stims on July 10th. Am I being a baby or what?

mgpasco - No, you are not being a baby at all! You have legitimate concerns as would any of us on this board. Don't worry yet - the follicles have a way of just taking off with the stim meds. When you go in for your next u/s, ask them about the other ovary. You have a right to know. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the reassurance. The nurse at my RE office said that my E2 went up to 351 and to not worry because as long as my E2 keeps going up it is ok. I am just freaking out because I just spent $2,500 on my meds and if they cancel this cycle I am going to probably have a coronary.

I am going in to see them on Saturday so hopefully there will be good news. I swear I am acting like a spaz....I think I gave myself 100 more IU of Gonal-F last night.

Is there something in Lupron, Luveris or Gonal-F that makes you spacy and forgetful?

Ha ha.. no, I think it's all the stress that makes us loopy and forgetful :D That's great news with the E2. Good luck tomorrow. Keep your head up. I know this is stressful but PMA really helps. I try to think one hurdle at a time. I go in for ER tomorrow so hopefully we'll both get good news :D

You are doing the right thing by advocating for yourself... especially because none of us want to waste time or money if we can help it! But I'll tell you from personal experience that I've had a tech say, let's say, on day six that i had two on each side... then I go in two days later and another tech says there's nothing. So I say "nothing, i thought they said i had two on each side the other day..." and she says "well, i meant nothing over 12mm." So later that cycle, or maybe it was another cycle, I called my doc to ask what that was all about. And my clinic doesn't consider the follies viable unless they're over 12mm. Actually they won't inseminate unless they're 18mm. Maybe that's what happened. But in any case you should always call your clinic with questions. Good luck, you're doing great!

Thanks for the supportive words! Went in yesterday for my scan at RE office and they found millions of big follies. Ok, not millions but 5 big ones on the LT and 5 decent on the RT.

I did my HcG shot last night and am scheduled for ER on Friday.

Pain with ER

Post by mgpasco »

Thanks for the thoughts! I did have ER on Friday. They only found 3 eggs. But they did say there were big. I am up and down because I know that they have a better chance with more and with my DS, they took out 9 eggs, 5 fertilized and they put back 3. I am feeling very hopeless about the 3 but I guess it's out of my hands now.

I don't remember being in pain after the first ER back 4 years ago, but last night I didn't take my Darvocet within 5 hours and last night you would have thought I was dying. At least I did.

Did anyone else have a ton of pain and bloating? I broke out in a cold sweat and made DH called RE.

Hello mgpasco,

I had to reply because I was in such a similar situation. After ER, that same night, I woke up at 1am in so much pain, I thought it was gas...walked around the house and the pain subsided a little. Went back to bed and woke up an hour later in shear pain. Got up again and the pain grew more and more to the point where I was screaming on the floor, couldn't get up and we called Re at 3:30 am...I was ready for the emergency room. I told me to take a vicodin and called me a 1/2hr later, pain had not changed. He called another 1/2 hr later and finally the pain was going away a little bit. The next day, Sunday, he called me in the office to do an US and make sure the ovary was ok. He thinks that the ovary twisted on itself and then untwisted. The worst pain in my life by far!

They retrieved 2 eggs out of 3 follies and both made it to blast. I got pregnant but I had a chemical. So, don't get discouraged, you can get pregnant and because you had fewer eggs, they are probably better quality.

I look forward to your fertilization report and wish you the best and a BFP in a couple of weeks.
Best of luck

new slew of stuff

Post by mgpasco »

Valerie,
Thanks for your post. I just blew chunks like it was my job. I think I might have thrown up stuff I ate last week!!!

I think my body is going down the list of possible side effects of what I can have after the ER and going Pain- Check; Bloating - Check; etc.
