Hi Beckie-
From what I've heard a lot of first time IVFs are cancelled if the ovaries aren't producing a lot of follies. They will usually convert the cycle to an IUI which is a breeze, rather than go thru anesthesia and not have a lot of eggs to play with. But best of luck - keep us posted!

Thanks for the reply's, good luck beckie, cant wait to see how you get on. I have 15 follicles growing at the moment, is this average? Also I am a bit concerned that they put you to sleep for egg retrieval, is this optional, i am sure i have seen tv ops where they are awake. anyway off to clinic now for u/s. will keep u posted. :)

I, too, have read that general anesthesia is optional. But then again it depends on the clinic. Besides, you're only knocked out for like 10 minutes. I'll let you know how my IVF goes this Fall... right now we still have one round of GonalF with IUI before insurance will allow IVF. Have a good week ladies!

Hi there,

There doesnt seem to be the option here so off to sleep I go.
I went to clinic today and they want me to take 1 more injection with the puregon pen (is this what everyone else uses?) So looks like ET will be delayed for a day. will prob be sat now.

Beckie I know you are meant to rest and not have baths etc for three days but does the bath thing last for the tww, do you know?

I am going on Holiday for a week to France of my tww so hopefully it wont be too bad, I can distract myself with bread and cheese...

Hi Karrie
My name is Brenda. And I've tried 6 mths Clomid with 3 IUIs, failed. And 2 mths GonalF injections with Ovidrel trigger + IUIs, failed. We have one more month of GonalF + Ovi with IUI then we'll move onto IVF. I think the Clomid success rates are like 5-10%. Injectibles get you up to 20%. But IVF is over 40%!!! So I'm ready to try that this Fall. Stay in touch. Fingers crossed for you! Have a great trip during 2ww.
