Hey everyone!!!! I just took my trigger shot and ER is scheduled for Friday 7/25 at 7:30 am. Went for bloodwork and ultrasound this morning and still had 12 follicles but two of the larger ones were no longer there (or shrank). When I asked the nurse, she gave me some lame answer that somtimes the larger ones slow in growth as the smaller ones use more of the estradiol. However, she didn't answer why they would shrink. Her answer was everyone measures the follicles differently. I wish my RE or atlest the same nurse would perform each ultrasound. My estradiol only increased from 1180 to 1350 from yesterday to today but I guess my other levels were starting to change and afraid that I would start ovulating and screw everything up. So, triggered tonight.

I don't really know what to expect on Friday but hoping for the best. Hopefully, I will have good news to report on Friday.

Hi ladies! Quick update... 6 of the 12 have fertilized. Right now I am scheduled for a 3 day transfer on Friday. I am a little confused as my clinic boasts that they mostly do 5 day blast transfers so I was surprised they scheduled me for 3-day. The nurse did say to call in that morning to make sure we were sticking with the 3-day and not pushing out to 5-day. I am going to ask them for clarification tomorrow. So many questions. At what point can you ask what grade the embies are? Can they not give an answer until day 3? I know there are many people who have had successful 3 day transfers but everything I read says 5 day blasts are better. Anyone have thoughts on this?

dcdiva:
This is such a complex question...3 day or 5 day transfer. I have researched it until I am blue in the face.
There is so many success stories with both.
However, there is so many different factors that goes into the decision. If your RE is pushing for a 3 day there must be a reason.
My RE really wanted me to do a 3 day transfer a couple of years ago....voila a wonderful, healthy boy.
I am now doing a FET and want them to culture them to 5 days, but again they are pushing for 3 day....
In my heart, it makes more sense that a blast will make it...However, I have to let my RE make the decision...after all he is the expert.
Good luck either way!
Kim

Thanks for the feedback Kim. I do feel like I have gotten excellent care thus far so I am going to go with whatever they say. The type A in me just need to understand what their reasoning is and know that I have done everything in my power to make this a success. I will keep the faith!

Hi ladies,
Dun think I can make it to ER :( . Tday they only be able to scan 5 eggs and the largest only make it to size 14.5mm. The nurse asked me to continue with the medication and will scan again on saturday. My DH called up the doc and discussed about his opinion. The doc surprised of my poor response to stimulation and since I was considered young, he prescribed me with lower dosage. Sigh....same mistake as my previous doc but at least with my previous one Im not too late to increase the dosage and he managed to retrieve 10. So the doc suggested on aborting the IVF if the saturday scan still show 5 eggs and changed it to IUI instead.
Been very upset when the nurse told me the result of the scan and my DH knew it and so he called up the doc. Well Im calming down now. No doubt I feel disappointed, well may be its God's will. Whatever happen there must be a reason. May be its just not my time yet. Well I will just have to accept it.
To those going for ET and in 2ww, keep on going and stay positive always and don't give up. One day you will hold your baby in your arms. :D

hommy - i am so sorry to hear that. I wouldnt give up yet - my levels doubled every day - wait till tommorow - just prepare yourself. They say the avg person takes 3 ivf cycles so give it another shot. They will get your meds right. Im healthy and 34 and my dose is high.

Nicky - good luck today!!! 12 follies is great!

DCdiva - ya i had the conversation with my doc about 3 versus 5 - see my post from a few days ago - at my clinic 3 day transfer if you are under 35 sucess is like 50% - 5 day is like 60% - i had 2 perfect grade embryos on day 5 and it didnt work so i am actually wondering if they will do better in me rather than a dish on day 3. I find out what fert today so i guess well see. My guess is we will have less eggs than last time so we may be doing a day 3. Well see. Last time we lost a few in the beginning and by day 3 - we had 12 tied so they pushed it to day 5 - then we had two implanted - only 1 left for freezing - on day 7 - so i guess the rest didnt make it to blasts and died in the dish :-( Either that or they forgot about them - who knows what goes on back there - you just have to trust them

As for me , i am so anxious for my fertilization report. My guess is they wont call till this afternoon. i am so sore after er that i dont know how you guys go back to work the next day!!

Hi there,

Well, I am so ready for the weekend, I can't stand it. I went back to work the day after ER and by the end of the day felt totally wiped out! So, i definitely suggest taking it a bit easy the next day. I think I just wanted to get my mind off of things. My fert report came back that of the 9 gotten, 7 were mature and fertilized. Now we are waiting to hear today how they are dividing and what the plan is for day 3 or 5 ET.

DCDiva: I ditto exactly what Kim says. Last cycle I had 2 "perfect" Grade 1AA blasts and although I initially established pregnancy, by week 6 my beta had dropped and it ended in a loss. So for those of you waivering on whether to test or not to test during the 2ww, I would suggest either not testing or testing just the night before your official Beta. For us, I tested very early, got a postive HPT and continued to get positive HPT's. I was obsessed and must have taken at least 12 tests during the wait. They all were positive, so hearing that my beta was "too low to last" was totally awful. But, I don't want to focus on the negative. My point is that we had totally perfect conditions and it didn't happen with our day 5 ET, so maybe a day 3 will completely work as so many positives have happened with day 3's. Whatever your clinic decides, I am hoping that you end up with a terrific BFP!!!

Hommy: I am so sorry that you are a slow stimmer this cycle. I imagine that this is very tiring and disappointing. But, the cycle is not over, so keep your chin up and recognize that just a few days of meds can make a big difference, so you still have a really good chance for success! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Nicky: I hope that your ER goes really smoothly and that they are able to get all 12!

Venus: 3 embies! WOW!! How wonderful is that! You may end up with twins! Which I think would be fabulous!

Jharris: great news on 9 fertilizing! I hope you will have some to freeze!

RBJean: Yeah! 12 is terrific! Have you gotten a fert report yet? Are you doing a day 5?

Off to work! Hope everyone's spirits are good and lots of Positive thoughts and prayers to you all!

Good morning ladies. I'm still waiting to hear how my little embies are doing, and find out if we are transferring tomorrow or Sunday!

rn2205: I'm glad you are feeling better. Best of luck at ER today! Can't wait to hear from you!!

babyloves: I am sure focus on anything other than those little embies is tough right now. Not too much longer now! You are leading the way for us!

kim14: 3 day didn't work for me last time, so I'm not sure if 3 or 5 day transfers are better. I was sore the day afte rmy ER as well, but I couldn't afford to take another day off. Luckily I have a desk job, so I didn't have to move around a whole lot. Hopefully you will get the call soon. Can't wait to hear that fert report!

anj: I am so glad to hear your ER went well! And I can't wait to hear your fert report later today!!

venus: Best of luck with those 3 embies. I am sure they are snuggling in as we speak! :D

nickyb: Congrats on getting to trigger! Best of luck on your ER Friday!

dcdiva: Congrats on the 6 fertilized embies!! I wouldn't worry too much about 3 day vs. 5 day. I have seen it work both ways. They will be able to tell you the grades when you go in tomorrow for ET. Best of luck to you!

hommy: I am so sorry to hear your news. Give it time, and hopefully the meds will kick your follies in gear and you will get to move ahead! I think several of us were surprise poor responders, so the RE's changed the protocol. It is hard to tell what works best. Best of luck to you!

elisabeth: I am with you! I felt drained last night, too. Congrats on your 7 fertilized embies! That is great news! Can't wait to hear when you get to transfer!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I will let you know when I hear more about my embies and my ET date! Thinking about you all!!

I finally got the call from one of the embryoligists (well actually, they called my house instead of my cell and left a message again!! ) Anyway, of the 9 that fertlized yesterday, they have 8 left today. 4 are 4-cell, 3 are 3-cell, and 1 is 2-cell. He said the 4 that are 4-cell are doing really well. We will be doing a 3 day transfer tomorrow, but I'm not sure how many we will be transferring yet. I guess I will make that decision when I get there and find out how they are doing. I have to go in for BW in the morning, then go back for transfer at 12:30. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well tomorrow, then I begin that 2ww again!!

Hi again girls,
DCDiva, Anj, Elisabeth, RBJean, Jharris, and Kimmy - good luck on all of your transfers. We will all soon be waiting together.

Hommy - Try to keep your chin up...you can do this.

Kim14- send your eggies lots of love...as long as you have one there is hope

Venus and Babylove - on my pre-retrieval instructions, the nurse said my pregnancy test should be on 8/4 which is 15 dpER. When I went to make the appointment, the receptionist said it should be 2 weeks past transfer, so I made the appt. for 8/6. What has your experience been? Should I call to double check? I am trying to read lots of books and make as many dates with friends as possible for the upcoming week. Hopefully we will be getting great news soon!!

Hi ladies!

Well, I waited all day for a call and finally called myself in the late afternoon for an update. Apparently, they left a message on my home phone. Anyway, all 7 are continuing to grow. I have 2-4 cells, 2- 5 cells, 1- 6 cell and 2- 7 cells. She said all of them have slight irregularities which may correct themselves with the exception of the 2- 4 cells which are perfect. So, they are confused as to whether I should do a day 3 or 5 transfer. They have me booked for 12:30 arrival and 1pm transfer tomorrow, but may call in the early morning and move it to a day 5 transfer depending on how things go through the night. Have you all heard of these "irregularities" before? If they do transfer, do you think they would be more likely to transfer the 4 cells which are perfect or the 7 cells which have some irregularities? Do irregularities mean chromosomal defects?? All these questions came to my mind after I hung up the phone (of course!)

Jharris: we are going in for transfer at almost the same time!! I'll be thinking of you! Are you required to have 24 hours of bedrest? That is what my clinic wants. They don't even like me going upstairs!

RN: how did the ER go? How are you feeling? and, how many did you get?

DCdiva: When do you go in tomorrow? What is your protocol after ET?

Antoak: my instructions were 14 days post ET, which seemed really LONG to me! So I'd be up for going in early and then having them continue to monitor the beta!

Kim: So glad that you have 6 great looking embies! I told my DH that I thought they would be doing a day 3 because we weren't high up in the double digits like last time. Have Faith! I bet this is your time!!

Lots of Love and Baby dust to you alll!
