When do I stop?

Post by babygurlsolages »

My first IVF cycle I only produced 4 eggs, 2 good quality and 2 didnt fertilize. Chemical pregnancy. Second cycle was the same 4 eggs, only 1 fertilized to only 5 cells by day 3. BFN. I never have anything left over to freeze to do a FET. I dont want to do DE, I dont think I could afford it, and ins pays for only 3 lifetime cycles. I have 1 left. What, if anything will make me produce more eggs?

I'm sorry to hear that it's not working well.... have you been using the same doc and same clinic?

I also had only 4 mature eggs and only 2 fertilized normally at grade b- and c.

I'm not sure what area you're in, but maybe a change in doc will do some good?

What kind of stims were you using for both tries?

How about accupuncture...I've heard people have had a lot of luck with it

I agree with Annie. Acupunture with herbs(maybe). Some clinics really frown on herbs but I think they just have you stop them during stims. I know my AP likes a good 3 cycles before IVF. Another young lady on the forums..Rinnie , I think she is the poster child for AP. She is doing AP with HErbs she would be a great one to ask. I have read great sutdies about the positive affectsof AP and I have read some that say they have no affect but more say they do.

Good Luck.

I agree with the ladies about the accupuncture and herbs. I would actually suggest taking 6 months off - get rid off the hormones in ur body and let your body get off the "BFN" kick and allow it to get back into balance, doing two cylces of herbs and maybe asked your doctor if the "flare" protoco will be be good for you. It uses Microdose Lupron in additonal to the gonal F and Menapur and it is meant to produce better wuality eggs.

I know this may sound stupid but sometimes is important that blood goes to your ovaries and help them produce more follies. And yoga helps for that, some positions helps. Do you do yoga?

I have a very slow response to meds (mi follies don´t grow) but since yoga my response has improved a lot.

I know it doesn´t solve the problem but believe me, it help (for your mind too).

If you want more information, please feel free to ask.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and warm wishes. I am looking into accupunture and a different doctor. Someone is upset he has to "produce" in a cup again. Oh well! I cried all day today. Leftover hormones??? Taking a break Doing a master cleanse and looking forward to IVF #3 in 2-3 months.

Taking a break is probably a good thing. I've been at different clinics and I know that redoing all the testing can be a pain in the neck, especially if the others are fairly recent. But it would be worth it if you like the new clinic and you get the result you wanted.

I finished up my 6th and final IVF in Feb.--my insurance covers 6 so I took advantage of all 6. I was always a poor responder and never got more than about 3 or 4 eggs retreived. At the 2nd clinic I usually got less--anywhere from 1-3 retrieved. I did acupuncture for #5 & #6. I was told by my clinic not to do herbs because they can be toxic to the embryos, but I also heard elsewhere that sometimes the herbs can interfere w/ the stims. But I think that if you try herbs to help regulate your body, etc while you are taking a break, then I don't see why you couldn't do it. As for the acupuncture, I found it quite relaxing and calming. I know for #5, it was the best cycle I had in terms of any type of success--I had an etopic pregnancy--but #1 & #2 were BFN and #3 & #4 didn't even get to get et. I know my nurse at clinic #2, which I really just hated, said that there's no proof that acupuncture works, but if you think it does, then it probably would. But when I said something to my RE, she definately said to do it. (I used to wonder if my nurse even ran stuff by the RE) I ended up just doing acupuncture and herbs after I maxed out my insurance to see if that helped me get pregnant (no ivf cycle) which it didn't but it was worth a try. I've tried all sorts of protocals, including flares, using bcp for some and not others. I always did about 300 IUI of either gonal-f or follistom. I've done it w/ lupron, w/o lupron, etc. so it could be just a different protocal that you need.

I am on another board about traditional chinese medicine and a person on that site--Rinnie is very knowledgable about it.

If there are certain questions you have about your next cycle, I would definately write them down so you remember to ask them when you go see your new doctor. Sometime you forget to ask.

Good luck to you.
